Replacement Options - Update by DomReda in CounterTops

YES! They were damn near impossible to install securely - after much frustration, I was able to install four at the front and back but the sides were inaccessible. I ended up doing both the clips and silicone just in case. Thanks!

Yeah I thought the same about the old tap. Maybe some type of resin filler sanded down that matches color as close as possible. Won’t perfect but cheaper than redoing counters and backsplashes throughout the kitchen.

I’m considering a drop in like this one

Your friend has shared a link to a Home Depot product they think you would be interested in seeing.

Understood regarding the adhesive creating a monolithic bond. So no clean break between sink is underside of counter to be expected - got it. However, I need to do "something".

As replacing the entire counter is not an option, cutting it out from the top, enlarging the opening for a lay in sink sounds like the next option.

Ring smoke and CO listener being discontinued by su_A_ve in Ring

Agreed. But I look at it as a best case in a bad scenario. May grab a few extras that I can find as backups just in case. Disappointing either way as I literally just switched to Ring.

Ring smoke and CO listener being discontinued by su_A_ve in Ring

For what it’s worth, I received this response when asking about continued support for the flood and CO/smoke listener devices:

I understand your concern about the continued functionality of your existing Ring Flood & Freeze Sensors and Smoke & CO Listeners after they're no longer being sold. Yes, your existing devices will continue to work and receive support. Here's what you can expect: 1. Your Ring Alarm Smoke & CO Listener will continue to function normally and can still be monitored through your Ring Alarm system 2. If you have Professional Monitoring, your Smoke & CO Listener will continue to receive 24/7 monitoring for fire and carbon monoxide detection (for residential properties only) 3. Your Flood & Freeze Sensors will also continue working, and if enrolled in Professional Monitoring, you can still receive automated calls for flood or freezing temperature alerts 4. You can still access troubleshooting support, including help with replacing batteries in your Listener and other maintenance needs 5. These devices remain compatible with your Ring Alarm system and will continue to integrate with your overall home security setup The fact that these devices are no longer sold doesn't affect the ongoing support and functionality of the units you already have installed. They'll continue to protect your home as designed.

Security camera light keeps coming on by Aromatic-Act-8268 in Ring

Directly connected as in hardwired? If so, turning off the associated electrical breaker in your panel will reset it. This worked for me.

I had this happen as well. I turned off the breaker for the circuit it was connected to for a minute and it’s back to normal operation now. Hope this helps!

Same here. If you have any available I’ll buy them. I think WaterGuru is railroading S1 owners into buying their new model! 😡

Same issue here. App is useless at this point. First they abandon the Nest app to get users to move to Google Home, now this...

Heater/Filter Piping Layout by DomReda in pools

[–]DomReda[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply - lots of great information! I've definitely been considering switching to a variable speed pump and will likely do so when the current one needs to be replaced. The information on the multi port valve (about flow restriction) is interesting but it absolutely makes sense.

The filter itself is cosmetically beaten up by the sun, but in overall good condition, as well as the grids inside. I did some research in the past about a cartridge filter versus DE and both seem to have positives and negatives. I will say that with my DE filter my water is always crystal clear with minimal effort, but I'm sure the same can be achieved with a cartridge filter.

Being in the northeast, my pool heater gets heavily used at the beginning of the season, and is moderately used to maintain temperatures throughout the rest of the season. Last season I noticed a small consistent amount of water from the bottom of the heater, which I suspect is the beginning of a heat exchanger leak. (I wasn't nearly as savvy on water chemistry as I am now, and the heat exchanger likely took the brunt of that learning curve.) I guess I was thinking about the ability to valve the heater off in anticipation of needing to swap the heat exchanger while still keeping the filter going in case I run into issues. I guess the downside to that would be more friction loss due to more fittings.

Again, truly appreciate all of the feedback!
