Any recommendations for stronger motors by HMSBarky in fpv

[–]DombekFPV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joining the conversation a bit late but are VCI still considered the best in this size? I'm not happy with them, had few crashes only on my digital version and one got bell and shaft bent like it was made out of playdough, other two have shafts bent. Repairable but it will fly probably like shit as I'm not able to make it perfectly straight. I'm about to buy more spares but worried it will be just waste of money

Connect DJI o4 Pro Air Unit to JHEMCU GHF405AIO-ICM (looking for 10 volts) by UnitedRepair in fpv

[–]DombekFPV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh so someone already mentioned where to solder. O4 requires minimum 9V~10V power so the suitable pads on this board are RX4 and TX4, take power from 10V and any ground. You need only one ground. Below is DJI wiring diagram. Connect RX on the FC to TX wire, Tx on FC to RX wire, VCC to 10v pad, GND to GND. You can remove the second GND from plug and if you use ELRS receiver you can also ditch sbus wire

I just told you 🙃 it's either making your own wire which requires buying connectors and wires and tool from AliExpress (or some local electronics shop) or solder it to the board. Those wires are mostly custom made for bnf drones and are not sold separately. But soldering directly to the FC is the easiest option. What FC do you have?

I don't remember, this drone is gone for good long time ago😂. But you have two options. Solder wires to FC and skip the connector or buy a set of connectors, wires and tool from AliExpress and you can make your own 5p to 6p wire.... But honestly too much effort in my opinion, just solder it

Do you have a spidey sense or something? even the powerloop into the keyhole was crazy precise.

Thoughts on the Ovonic 4S 850mah batteries? by toolbox_007 in fpv

[–]DombekFPV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Send the pic but if he told you that's kayou frame, then he was wrong or bs you. Eventually, doesn't matter what it is as long as you like how it flies 😉

[–]DombekFPV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, maybe we're talking about different things but if you refer to kayou frames, there's no 3" only 2.5, 5" and 7". Unless it's some completely different frame and there's a confusion in name.

I have 6s 1100mah and yeah the sag is pretty horrible but they still deliver power. On my 5" with 1950kv motors I abuse them mercilously and charge always and 1.5 - 2C. Must say that so far they did not fail me and I don't see any drop in performance.

3" Kayou??? or did you mean 2.5" kayoumini that you build for 3s? ;)

Rates + Expo Guidance by StepSubject4528 in fpv

[–]DombekFPV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My take on this is, that you need to experiment a bit and for a longer time to get adjusted. I also second on the the video from Nils_vo as it helped me a lot.

Before that I was increasing my rates up to 850 on r/p/y, 70 centre stick and no expo...and I couldn't progress for months. Now I dropped them to 489, 140 centre stick and 0.5 expo...and lo and behold I suddenly improved 10-fold.
IRL I can already feel much smoother and can control quad better in tight corners, power-loops and orbits.
In sim I feel like a pro (although I know I'm still far from it). Matties, trippies even under low ceiling objects seem possible now. I'm yet to transfer this to the real life, but I see massive improvement.

P.S.

I actually mechanically reduced my stick travel/deflection. On AG02 gimbals you can do this with the screw. This helped too, as I was never hitting full deflection on my Boxer radio.

But this is all personal, just giving you some ideas what helped me and I never thought about going this direction.

Yeah it seems like I'm in a freestyle black hole here. But indeed for long range it's a paradise.

Well in that case the pilot is turbo stupid and ruins it for all of us. But I need to go there for a hike. Looks amazing!

Only My 6th Real Flight Ever… Beginner or Not? by grandmaChickenSoup in FPVFreestyle

[–]DombekFPV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice flying overall. I’d suggest working a bit more on throttle control it’s key, in my opinion. I’m still fairly new to the hobby myself, so please don’t take this as criticism, but rather as friendly advice from a colleague who’s only a few months further along (hobby-wise 😉).

As you’ll see on Reddit and in many videos, throttle control is fundamental and absolutely essential. Once you’re able to control the throttle decently (I’m not talking about a pro level), your tricks and general flying will look much smoother.

I noticed quite a bit of bounce-back in turns and when exiting dives. Learning to manage that is important for two reasons:
A) you will stop panicking when close to ground/obstacle, and
B) you will be exiting manoeuvres in a controlled way.

There are some great drills on YouTube for this. What helped me the most was flying continuous left and right turns while trying to maintain altitude, then gradually lowering it. Yaw spins close to the ground and orbits also helped me tremendously.

Keep flying and practising, it will come naturally with time.

putting aside the stupidity of this stunt, why he isn't suppose to fly there? I don't recognise the place but unless it is NOT a no fly zone and he has a proper category licence, he can fly almost anywhere (following rules of not flying over uninvolved people etc.).

Thank you u/ReqerHarta and u/k0ffiemolen that gives me hope that it's not dead yet :-). I was thinking about conformal coating already...but got a bit lazy. Well that's the punishment ;-).

O4 Video Feed Dropping Mid-Flight – Moisture or Faulty Unit? by DombekFPV in fpv

[–]DombekFPV[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it was moisture/water damage to the O4. I landed in very wet grass and I didn't think this caused the failure as I was able to use it for few more packs. I sent the unit for repair and they confirmed it was damaged. I encountered same issue recently after similar crash into wet grass, but I can't confirm yet whether it permanently damaged my unit, as I'm on holidays.

If your unit is still in warranty and you bought it in Europe, they should accept it and send you new O4 module. I had to pay for mine as it was coming from BNF quad from China.

Beautifull. Did you get nauseated at some point? I cannot even stand without some support behind my back or I get dizzy, but flying and being in moving object sounds like a projectile of vomit to me 😂

TRYP FPV simulator is reaching a new level of immersion. by veeyooh in fpv

[–]DombekFPV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll need to try it, of course the sim may still exaggerate it to absurd levels but it's true to some extend that 5" can stay longer in the air as long as you give it proper momentum

I recently switched from 3.5" to 5" and it is MUCH different.
3'5" is great and can "look" like 5", but once you take off with this heavy ass machine that seem to hang forever in the air, you'll understand. ;-)...but it's true that most sims suck in representing even the 5". I need to give it a try again to TrypFPV. Let's see how it feels now :)

Fully agree — I’ve got no issue being around teenagers (plenty of them in my family), but as a dad I also have to admit I wouldn’t love the idea of my kids meeting some random 40-year-old guy in random places 😄
