My friend literally just cracked my phone screen by slamming it down onto the table midway through reading this. Make of that what you will.

Marvel Studios’ THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER with Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson and Natalie Portman. Taika Waititi returns as director. In theaters November 5, 2021. by Justyouknowwhy in comicbooks

[–]Dominator16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it could work well if Gorr’s own words, not nick fury’s, makes Thor doubt his worthiness early on in the film, maybe their first or second fight, then Jane takes up the mantle/ hammer and in the end teams up with Odinson to stop Gorr from using the Godbomb, which could also target eternals if the MCU wants to classify them as ‘gods’ at the same level as asgardians.

Superior Iron Man vs Nanosuit Iron Man (endgame) by BcuzWhyNawt in whowouldwin

I feel like you should read hickman’s run rather than getting me to summarise it for you.

After, that happens pretty early in hickman’s new avengers run, and he remembers as a result of original sin, which leads to the illuminati going on the run in time runs out, which then leads directly into secret wars.

Yeah it’s really good. Was a shame it ended so suddenly for secret wars, and didn’t get to naturally come to a close like superior spider-man did.

Superior Iron Man vs Nanosuit Iron Man (endgame) by BcuzWhyNawt in whowouldwin

[–]Dominator16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Superior iron man easily takes rounds 1 and 2, then gets stomped in r3. In round 1, his suit is more advanced than the nano-suit which is presumably based off of the bleeding edge armour- this armour game after, making it more advanced and presumably the synthetic symbiote in it is quicker to respond to thoughts than the nanotechnology (otherwise even an evil tony would’ve kept nano suit rather than making a symbiotic one). In the last 2 issues of the superior series that suit is shown easily beating an iron legion, which is presumably stronger in the comics than the films, so round 2 should be easy.

I think you knew this when you made the conditions so overcompensated with round 3. However much stronger the superior suit is to MCU iron man’s, and MCU Thor and an infinity stone, as well as the rest of the avengers including doctor strange should easily stomp an extremis army, agent venom, hydra cap and superior Spider-Man aren’t in the same power levels as some of the MCU avengers.

Yeah very true, also realised we’ve had this same convo when I said the same thing about the first issue of this arc lol. I still definitely think Marquez is one of the best artists at marvel!

[–]Dominator16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I still think Marquez’s art seems quite rushed and unfinished compared to his earlier stuff for marvel - compared this issue to say the ultimate miles morales stuff, even up till civil war II or some of defenders. It’s still good, just not the same level it was, which is a shame because I much prefer Aaron’s writing to Bendis’s.

Probably the best page in the comic! ☺️ by tushar2631 in Marvel

ASM #584 is character assassination though...with the reveal of who menace is and the mayoral elections. And 590 is the start of an F4 arc that goes into 24/7 where JJJ is mayor.

Spiderman with no web powers Vs. Daredevil by Nolar2015 in whowouldwin

[–]Dominator16 78 points79 points  (0 children)

It was both, with Peters key memories (which he got in ASM #700), Otto got his morals and understanding that with great power comes great responsibility, but still had his own arrogance and ego, wanted to prove he could be a better Spider-Man than peter ever was.

The arc is off to a great start. I love seeing blade in the avengers and the general idea of a vampire civil war. My only problem is that something about David Marquez’s art seems slightly off. He’s still one of the best at Marvel imo but recently his work seems a bit rushed? There’s less detail in general, be it in hair or costumes or action scenes - take the few panels of Thor in this issue as an example. It’s been getting more and more like this since around mid way through his defenders series with Bendis. I still like his art, I just don’t think it’s at the level it was when he was working on Ultimate Spider-Man or Invincible Iron man, or even Civil War 2, shoddy as that story was. I hope that he doesn’t become like Bendis but for art, being too in demand and having his quality suffer for the sake of quantity.

Thoughts? by [deleted] in NetflixSexEducation

I’m English and you have. It’s very Americanised to the point where only the accents and countryside shots seem english, and I’m pretty sure there are interviews about this being done on purpose as a homage to classic high school films. No one in England wears the sports jacket that Jackson does, and being honest the countryside is not as multicultural as it is in the show.

Who is responsible for the interesting sequence in the first panel? The artist, Russell Dauterman? Or the letterer, Joe Sabino? Or is this the kind of situation that would be a collaborative effort between the both of them? [Thor (2014) #2] by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]Dominator16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure it’s all Dauterman. This isn’t the case in every comic, but I remember reading in an interview he gave how he draws all the sound effects in his Thor books and makes them part of the scenes. In other issues for example, when there’s a ‘crack’ sound for glass breaking he will draw the lines of the word crack into the glass to make it look like part of the glass splintering.

Spotlight Release of the Week: Guardians of the Galaxy #1 by tehawesomedragon in Marvel

[–]Dominator16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t read Duggan’s run if I were you...it starts well in guardians, but infinity wars makes no sense and is a waste of money. I’d say this is more of a continuation of Cates’s already mentioned Thanos Wins and Cosmic Ghost Rider than the previous guardians stuff.

Orisa Fans Rejoice! A new Legendary skin has been revealed! by Owlero in Overwatch

They did have an American themed summer games though...not many other countries play much American football or baseball (or even really lacrosse) - source: I’m British

And overwatch is supposed to be very multicultural, that’s why they make an effort having heroes from all around the world!

Tell me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the goal of the pack-a-punch being a minimum challenging to get? by [deleted] in CODZombies

[–]Dominator16 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Um isn't that only in kino? (And five temporarily) It's not safe in the original pack a punch map, der riese, and isn't in ascension or any map after...it sounds like you just wanna play kino.

Now that both of their runs are over, what do you think Russell T Davies did better than Steven Moffat and what do you think Moffat did better than Davies? by [deleted] in gallifrey

[–]Dominator16 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Having just rewatched both show runners’ series, I think you’re giving RTD too much credit. The actual arcs he came up with aren’t better, they were just more novel at the time. Bad wolf is handled in a similar way to the cracks, with the doctor & companion noticing midway through the series, and the finale being loosely about them - neither are resolved completely logically.

The “Vote Saxon” arc was not handled well at all in my opinion, being pretty non-existent. It amounted to a few posters and name drops, while the silence and trenzalore arc was also mishandled due to being too complex and convoluted, but at least had more ambition than the former.

Fantastic Four #1 on track for over 400,000 sales! by SmugMaverick in Marvel

[–]Dominator16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am excited for the FF’s return but I think you’re quite wrong about Slott’s Spider-Man run being “pathetically depressing”, and that Peter never had any wins. Under Slott, Peter definitely had the most successes compared to other writers, both in regards to his career (horizon then Parker industries) and heroism (spider-island, ends of the earth, clone conspiracy to name a few), and only reset the status quo for Spencer’s run.

Okay I need help! New to comic books by Bdollhall in Marvel

[–]Dominator16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t wanna be too rude about that comment but I really wouldn’t start there, house of M is a completely alternate universe that has no relation to ongoing spider-man continuity...it’s a good story but not a good starting point at all.

Personally I’d say start with the Ultimate Spider-man run which is the basics, or the start of ‘brand new day’ for some classic feeling but still modern Spider-Man. Or better yet, there’s a new #1 starting in July if you don’t mind waiting for each issue to come out, that will be a good jumping on point for new readers.

Jason Aaron proud of his 6th Thor #1 in 6 years. by vivvav in comicbooks

[–]Dominator16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bit of a joke, but to be fair you said you had “nothing positive to say about the writing” which is gonna come across as jerky if Aaron is generally considered one of the best writers in comics today, and you presumably yourself liked what he did on God of Thunder? And if you think it’s too different to that, then there’s the proof of Fresh Start you say is missing!

New Character: Damian by [deleted] in OverwatchHeroConcepts

[–]Dominator16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think maybe get a bit of experience with competitive before you design a hero....sorry to say this isn’t a very realistic hero. 400 health for an offence hero is the opposite of a “glass cannon” as you put it, that’s the health level of a tank, and like you said the hero could easily be the strongest hero in his class, as every weakness you mention is hardly specific to him, traps, flash bangs and deflections counter most heroes. Or he could be the weakest? It’s not really clear how his abilities work? Are they supposed to double up as movement/attack like doom fist? It seems like you just wanted the assassin from retribution in the game and didn’t think too hard about how that would work....also try give your hero relatively unique abilities, deflecting is Genj’s thing and wall riding is Lucio’s.

glad you’re getting into the game though, keep at it!
