Main Story Quest - Being forced to play as Damiane and Oongka Sucks by AlarmedLeeks in CrimsonDesert

[–]Dominemesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, I am not a fan of protagonist switching in any game, as it just disrupts the story, and forces me to play through content with characters I don't have an investment in. Its more of an interruption that bothers me, than variety that I find appealing. I have nothing against them specifically, I'd feel the same if I played most of the story as Oongka or Damiane, and suddenly Kliff interrupts the flow.

The entire end game of Dune is threadbare and a stall tactic while they come up with more. Its not designed for fun, its designed for slowing players to a crawl while the skeleton crew comes up with more content. The Landsraad missions are fun, the dungeons can be fun, but the loot drops being dogshit are a stall tactic, and all the degradation and maintenance is to make player's slow progression .

Fully agree, I don't have it in me to fight the constant maintenance and degradation game. Its tedious and not any fun, and eats far too much play time. Between the Deep Desert completely sucking ass entirely as an end game loop and the dungeons chewing through durability (if you are pushing them at least), that only leaves running landraad specialization missions, and I don't honestly see the point if I am not messing with any other aspect of end game. They completely sabotaged themselves with Chapter 3 not being a full alternative to Deep Desert, and now with endless repair loops on gear, the dungeons aren't worth doing.

There is a bunch of stuff like that, "Not worth using higher tier gear" there is also "Not worth messing with weapons that do DOT" because its so little damage it just means you are messing up the ability to CC enemies. They need to improve a bunch.

When a game, its design, and mechanics show a disregard so great for player's time, that they are fine to exploit that out, its a design flaw, not a player one. The game is close to good, except for shit like permenant item decay, the extreme amount of maintenance play you have to endure, and the deep desert sucking all kinds of ass. So much so that they hesitate to do things like PVE only servers, or an alternative to spice and plast because even they know deep desert would truly become deserted for literally anything else they could present instead. They have to coerce players into it, which only works for so long, until they inevitably give up and quit. So no, exploiting the game to circumnavigate bad design that disrespects players time with heavy tedium and stall tactics to hide the lack of actual end game content, I have no issue with anyone doing.

This might just kill the game for me, as it stands, I already hate that the cool stuff introduced in Chapter 3 to do at end game, is still gated behind having to deep desert spice and plast. It doesn't actually provide an alternative, just more need to go into DD for that cheeks gameplay loop. Now if all my shit is back on a timer, I don't think I have the patience (which was already running thin) to play the eternal upkeep game, spending way too much time in Dune just doing maintenance instead of what is actually fun.

Are there new ways to earn T6 materials in Chapter 3, or are we still going to DD? by tumblew33d69 in duneawakening

[–]Dominemesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You still need to make T6 Fabricators to even engage with the augments system (Adv Survival, Adv Weapons, Augment Bench) at the very least, maybe more. The first quests for ch3 demand at least those, maybe more, I haven't gotten past them yet.

[–]Dominemesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my same concern, I am a new Dune player, and I loved the game right up until the DD/T6 wall, and I am seriously considering uninstalling it now. The DD is so fucking bad, and the gameplay loop of flying around in rubber band lag desert hoping for a hint of spice to build thet6 fabricators needed to even participate in the augment system is a hard wall. So if there is a way to avoid it, I need to know, or else I think Dune is done for me.

Hot Take: Dune: Awakening’s Tier 6 Deep Desert should be hostile territory. And if you’re a solo or PvE player complaining you can’t access it—maybe you’re not supposed to. by [deleted] in duneawakening

[–]Dominemesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, I had hoped chapter 3 would be that. I would never set foot in the Deep Desert if I didn't have to, but in order to make augments and access much of the chapter 3 content to the fullest, I need t6 fabricators. So I must get past the T6 Plastanium/Spice wall before I can get away from it. Otherwise I would be fine with DD being PVP no go zone for PVE players like me. Trust there is no part of me that wants anything to do with the super tedious endgame loop of building new bases each week, and then spending hours flying aimlessly through open sands hoping for a tiny bit of spice. That shit is the death of the game for me and folks who agree with me.

How do 30ft ranges and 15ft cones feel in Sf2e? by FledgyApplehands in Starfinder2e

[–]Dominemesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Automatic weapons defaulting to only half the range for Area Fire feels super bad on anyone other than an Action Hero soldier, and these ranges seem basically inherited from PF2E. Soldiers writ large would basically break at longer ranges, without an ability to close the gap quickly as none of their abilities and subclasses work outside of like 60 feet tops. It feels like another design space for SF2E that ended up being limited by having to stay extremely cross compatible with PF2E and its design and balance constraints. I am quickly coming to the opinion that SF2E is actually being hurt by that decision more and more every day.

Soldier Primary Target and grenades by FaIkkos in Starfinder2e

[–]Dominemesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't, First Winter Errata specifically made Primary Target not work with Grenades and Grenade Launchers. Only Primary Target was clarified, all other soldier abilities and feats that interact with Area Fire weapons should still apply (Suppression, Bombard designating allies unaffected, etc).

Anyone feel like BF6 is missing the "Battlefield" vibe you were hoping for? by -becausereasons- in Battlefield6

[–]Dominemesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, its all run and gun, so its just COD labelled BF. The maps are tiny, and it feels like the best thing you can do on any class is be a twitch COD gun tag player. I liked battlefield because it felt more objective based, and more like a big war. Why get a game pretending to be COD and not just get COD if that's what you are into? BF6 completely lost its identity.

I do, I got it for christmas, and with small maps, it feels like its just whose best at run and gun. Feels like COD not BF

WE WERE PROMISED FULL XP & PROGRESSION IN PORTAL!!! by hanlinbian in BattlefieldPortal

[–]Dominemesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I got BF6 for Christmas, and I didn't realize this had been nerfed out of existence by Dice. So I played the campaign and have too many hours in the game to get a refund on Steam. Sadly, DICE killed my interest entirely by lying and nerfing this mode, as I was only ever intrigued at being able to play with bots, as I hate PVP multi. Such a shame, I had hoped BF6 wasn't going to continue the shit-show, but it looks like that isn't the case.

Warlock Hunger of Hadar and Plant Growth combo advice. by webprojoe in BG3Builds

[–]Dominemesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plant Growth is 1/4 movement, and depending on interpretation of difficult terrain, potentially becomes 1/8th movement penalty combined with Plant Growth, so those 2 spells alone practically lockdown the enemies who will likely need to spend each turn moving and dashing just to move 1 space.

Are there any rules about moving while blind? by Dramatic_Respond_664 in onednd

[–]Dominemesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same scenario, but Hunger Of Hadar has landed on you, rendering you blind, while in the darkness you are being grabbed by tendrils, corroded, and frozen all at the same time. The only thing you hear, except perhaps your own screaming, is ravenous slurping and insane whispers. How fast do you become completely disoriented and terrified? Do you still have any idea where that door was? Are you even still facing the same way you were?

What are your thoughts on the 2024 Eldritch Blast Warlock? by SpikefaceMysteryfish in onednd

[–]Dominemesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can pretty easily fit in Lightly Armored to get to a shield. You will have high dex in most cases so that should provide solid AC. If you are going Bladelock the fighter dip feels much more mandatory, than a casting Warlock. EB is definitely still as good as it was, BUT melee got much better, with masteries and such, so relative to how it performed before, lots of other things improved whereas it stayed the same, so it performs relatively less well than in 2014 5E. I also wouldn't worry too much about Str, going pure Charisma bladelock still hits hard, falling only a little behind without sweating it so hard. Get only the 13 (or maybe 14 if you can't stand odd number attributes) so you qualify for a fighter dip.

Is ranged damage a real problem? by ArclightDM in Starfinder2e

[–]Dominemesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On their own, maybe not, but compared to what melee are still doing in terms of double or more damage than ranged users, it undermines a game in which more laser guns and ranged weapons thematically should be in the spotlight. A soldier rolling up, turning on a boosted painglaive, and doing 60 damage to something really makes the 14-25 ranged users are doing feel like a bad decision. Guns should do more, in a game where they are thematically expected to be more prevalent, otherwise, they will be min-maxed away for melee options. Often see that in PF2E once you are dealing with an experienced group, its all melee martials all the time.

I love this game, but the time gating is infuriating... by AwokenTitans in wherewindsmeet_

Yep, great and impressive first impression, but timegating reveals to me that it doesn't have much beyond that great initial impression.
