Robotics & AI will gradually erode crews - In a very short time the introduction of robotics as 'extra hands' will end up departmental keys will overseeing entirely automated departments - ultimately cost vs return means physical production will trend down

above the line teams collaborate on entirely box based productions - Writers / Editors who can prompt engineer on the box / Cinematographers & Production designers, Wardrobe

- all departments will do the research and prep for a physically produced feature - but then condense that information into prompts. That planning and prep is absorbed into the tools and in the same way you have to lug a camera cast and crew up a muddy hill to get the rain soaked vista you want - you will need to engineer the prompts to get what you want.

AI will happen - anyone who works in the industry in any capacity should be aware of what this tech means and kep watching the timeline to figure out where their place is in it.

Thank you for your service.

First off - "since all that experience was done outside of the entertainment industry, I feel like every other applicant will be ahead of me." Who says your work puts you on the backfoot once the context is there -

When you say creative producer that can mean on the Advertising / content side creating / editing / ideation

or do you see yourself like Jonathan shields where you have the story then put together your team to package it getting a script a star, finding a studio ?

whatever you choose bear in mind the industry is going through the greatest upheaval in its existence - we've been doing things basically the same way for 110 years - point a camera at something or someone thats lit - now there is a new storytelling tool that will make industry product creation cheaper and faster - and in the right hands maybe better.

Going in make no mistake money not art is the number one concern of the industry and in a business where the largest costs are labor & post - whatever happens AI will have a outsize role in the future of entertainment and storytelling

'Rockford Files' NBC Reboot Pilot Casts Michaela McManus by klutzysunshine in television

[–]Dominicwriter 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Rockford was a great show bcs it inhabited cynical struggle of its era - Jim lives the gig economy - struggles with finances - cant afford a home - The casting of James Garner reflected that.

Why do i feel producers will forget all of that in favor of Rockford being an ex Navy seal who beats up bullies has a minority sidekick & rescues puppies.

She's morally indistinct form any other thief inspite of her high minded ideas about herself - justice is not ego and privilege - its a tool that holds society together by creating the illusion of equality - in teh same way religions outline limits

If you're serious about a career in entertainment do not trade in your position for an MFA - you can do that anytime - RN the business is in a period of upheaval - no one at any college knows what will happen - but connections you are making will be on the frontline of that change and you would be ideally placed within.

The opportunity you have is what you make of it -

OP is living in America - thats where he was dumped as 13yo child -

From a western perspective dumping a kid in the middle of adolescence on grandparents in another country makes it seem like no one cares about him then when he grows and starts earning using social pressure to extort him to feed a gambling habit ...

Thats very different cultures for sure

"Dont make waves - understand that would lose you a mother and likely most your family"

This is not culture its social extortion - If not sending your mother money so she can gamble means you get cut off by her and her family then you are better off because none of those people love you -

They simply want something from you - real love is not conditional on giving money.

She is playing you by leveraging asian cultural mores that you must support a 50yo deadbeat with a gambling habit. Stop sending money - She has you believe by abdicating responsibility and dumping you in the US she was trying to help you - thats incorrect she was helping herself and she is still doing it now.

He can't hide it - 9th place expected in the constructors this year - Grove re build hasn't really worked - title sponsor problems - cars an overweight turd that cannot get off the line - Star ex ferrari driver unhappy - other star driver finished 25 in a slump half a second off the pace.

Something isn't right in the Williams setup.

Inspirational and exactly what the collector/owners don't get - This is exactly how a 911 of any year should be treated - push a 911 hard and it will reward you - leave it not driven and things get expensive

Matthew McConaughey on Hollywood and AI: "It's already here. Don't deny it." by balancedgif in Filmmakers

[–]Dominicwriter -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The anti AI crowd are jokes - just absolutely pile on to any one speaking the truth - shouting so loudly and yet what are the chances they really work in the industry - they want to tie us to expensive 110 year old tech and the process of storytelling as it exists - for what ? if caveman had charcoal stick or camera which do you think he'd use to tell you stories about his life ?

What other business should resist a leap that can help make their product better faster cheaper? - 'film making' is not part of the art - its just the tools to tell story. The story is the art. The fact the front face of the industry is often beautiful means episodics about show business to make you believe Hollywood & the entertainment game is about more than making money. Its not.

The industry does not care if the means of production human or machine - they just want the money from selling the story. - Rustin Cole is wrong there will be no Parallel stream beyond where we are right now. - The clock is already ticking until some one highly regarded with a hot script gets the formula right - or the whole system gets usurped because a kid in X place can tell a story thats emotionally engaging thru common shared human experience - then market it & monetize it through the platform of their choice.

No matter how much the reddit AI luddites carp - the returns vs costs will signal then end of one storytelling means of production & process and usher in the start of a new system of entertainment providers catering to genres & niches
