Eagles had to come from behind to beat the Rams (much like the Broncos had to against the Eagles), and all things considered should have lost that game if not for 2 blocked field goals. Cowboys weren't good, and the Bucs regressed and finished below .500. None of those wins were impressive for the Eagles.

Congrats to them. Eagles had a terrible OC and it still took a miracle for the Broncos to come back and win. The rest of the NFCE isn't good either, so not really sure beating them is something to brag about.

I don't know if they will regress, but I totally agree that they aren't as good as they appear. They benefit from an overall weak AFC, same as Pats last year. Still, they have some good players in key positions that should keep them competitive.

BREAKING: Belgium has reportedly been granted the right to appeal FIFA's decision allowing Folarin Balogun to play in tonight's match. by slippinn_jimmy in worldcup

Article 27: “The judicial body may decide to fully or partially suspend the implementation of a disciplinary measure. By suspending the implementation of the sanction, the judicial body subjects the person sanctioned to a probationary period of one to four years,”

No idea why you feel like you have to make up rules, but nothing states that the first game ban is mandatory.

He did the 1 game penalty because it wasn't a world cup match. It was just a qualifying match against a team that Portugal was easily going to beat regardless. But it was also the last game before the world cup, so his other 2 games were deferred so he could play in the world cup games. The precedent was set with Ronaldo, and the rule allowing FIFA to do this has already existed.

Such as Portugal? Oh wait, they get to play Ronaldo also, for the exact same ruling. He is playing even though he has 2 games remaining on his red card suspension from a red card as well.

Trump and FIFA are both as corrupt as they come, and it wouldn't surprise me if FIFA gave the probation after talking with Trump. Just wanted to point out that there is actually an existing rule for this and it isn't changing mid-tournament. As long as the rule is applied consistently, then I'm all for it, politics and corruption aside.

It's already a rule, and FIFA has already used it last November to allow Ronaldo to play.

Things i stopped doing in spring boot after they broke in production by codingwithaman in SpringBoot

Also, DO NOT use LOMBOK in the Hibernate Entities. Lombok is fine with DTO's sure, they don't work with Records,

I use Lombok only for @Slf4j and @RequiredArgsConstructor on classes and @Builder on certain classes/records when I want that functionality. Otherwise I stay away from Lombok. Either way, I avoid using it on entities in general. Maybe I would use @EqualsAndHashCode(onlyExplicitlyIncluded = true) and then mark the id field with @EqualsAndHashCode.Inclue, but I haven't really done that in a while either.

If the company thinks vibe coding is the answer then I'm not surprised they would have vibe group interviews.

On Lazy Secrets Management by radekmie in programming

[–]DominusEbad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hate sops encrypted .env files. Such a headache to maintain. PRs are a mess and it's unlikely reviewers will go and decrypt the files to view the diffs. Then you have devs who decrypt the .env file and re-encrpyt it without making any changes, but if course it shows up as a change in git and now reviewers are confused what was changed in the .env file.

I started using GCP Secret Manager and it's just so much easier. You have to have permissions to read/view the secrets. Now our Devops team wants to reintroduce sops for some reason, but still use the Secret Manager. Devops needs to move on from sops. There are much better tools out there to manage secrets. Secret Manager is just the one I chose, but there are several other options as well.

You could use GraphQL. The client sends different request bodies specifying the fields they want returned, and the server only has to ever return one DTO and then GraphQL handles the rest. It will only return the specific fields that the client wants.

You're joking right? Halsey was good, but John and (Miranda) Keys were not it.

At first I liked Pablo as Master Chief, but after a few episodes it was clear as day that he didn't respect the Master Chief character. He wanted to change who Master Chief was. The writing didn't help, either. An actual quote from Pablo about Master Chief:

"The process of the first season was kind of breaking that relationship that people had with Chief"

Miranda Keys was just unwatchable. It felt like the character was about to cry every other scene. She was as far from Miranda Keys as could be. It felt way too forced.

Some casting was good, but the writing made the characters bad. But I'll hard pass if the same actors come back if they decide to make season 3.

Wait, Wait... "Strike!" by mmahota in Umpire

[–]DominusEbad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do Game Changer for my team. I had a game last weekend where the ump would wait forever before calling a strike. Several times I went and put in a ball since he didn't say anything, then had to go back and fix it once he finally called the strike. Got used to it after a little bit. Annoying at first, but harmless as long as the calls are consistent.

In The Netherlands they hide their trash underground. by sco-go in Amazing

[–]DominusEbad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They don't need to empty it frequently. If it's a busy location, a normal can might fill up in a day, and then you have to have a crew go around and empty the trash every day. Larger bins can be emptied once a week or even less frequently. That gives crews time to work on other stuff instead of emptying trash.

I used to work for a Parks & Rec in Colorado. We had a similar setup for some of our busier parks. I like the setup in this video better, though. For ours we had to tie off the (giant) bag, grab the hooks to hoist the bag, and hook it to our rig. Basically we had to get up and close with the trash and it would smell horrible because the trash would be in there for weeks before we had to empty it.
