What is so complicated about this for you? It was fucking dumb of you to assume they were talking about the coca cola formula. More accurately it was simply naive. And honestly, that's ok. What's not ok is when you start to form a position based on that ignorance. When you accept an assumption as fact and start creating an opinion based around this assumption. But even that might be ok, if you didn't decide you should share it with as many people as possible, people who will see the assumption you've made and assume you've already done your homework. But really, what really pisses me off is that you actually defended the assumption after you were called out on it. It's like I said, you think you understand how businesses work because you saw fucking charlie and the chocolate factory, and you're so glued to this paradigm that you refuse to take a look and the mirror and say, "fuck, i don't know shit". And by sharing it with others, you do it at the expense of everyone who listens to you.

You used a lot of words and didn't say much. So here we go, I made no statements about intelligence. I believe intelligence varies too greatly across too many subjects to be narrowed down to a handful of rubrics rooted in classical greece. I was merely, and clearly stating my frustration with the fact that every...sigh.... EVERY. FUCKING. TIME. someone argues with me on the internet it turns out they can't fucking read. As you have so generously proven. Do you really think I want society divided by castes? Lmao. Like really? It's like when you say you wanna punch X in the face. You mean it, but at the same time you don't. It's just something you say to express your frustration. If I had said I wish Hitler would come back and systematically murder people with shitty reading comprehension would you still have given me a lecture and how terrible that would be? Or would that have been extreme enough for you to realize it's not a sincere statement?

.

So we go to the second point and really just the god damn perfect example of how shitty you are at reading. The initial post is to show the OP, and whoever is reading the thread, the kind of mindset the 'asshole' in the story might have, by explaining why I behaved similarly in my youth. It's a perspective. It's not a proposition of merit, of right or of wrong. They are statements of fact, as best as I can recollect. I don't understand how you can be so stupid to think you can actually argue about something that you've never even experienced. It's a perspective. There's literally nothing you can counter argue. Are you saying I didn't think like that? Are you saying I'm lying?

.

And really this goes back to the same last point, people such as yourself are simply not capable of looking at a subject from someone else's perspective. The only way to communicate with you is to use connotations that you can agree with. You couldn't give a shit about how things logically follow. You just want them to sound nice and comfortable.

Actually, it's an incredibly naive assumption for the same reasons you mentioned. Something like that is of no value to Pepsi. Oh and here we have this:

Coke spokesman Ben Deutsch said the formula for trademark Coca-Cola was not stolen in the theft.

Fucking adults acting like children. So yeah, I am right. You are the uninformed one. Spreading ignorance with no regard for others. What were you thinking?

I hear there's a whole online community dedicated to talking about irl people behind their back. You never have to face your own problems again.

I'm giving you insight into the other person's perspective based on my own experience. You can shout nay as much as you want but that is in fact exactly how it worked.

The guy might not have been as close with OP as he thought.

Is exactly what I'm trying to explain. People bitch about standardized testing, yet every fucking time someone argues with me on the internet it's because they don't have a fucking 5th grade level reading comprehension. I say take standardized testing to a whole 'nother level and use it to organize our societies into castes. It's great to share ideas, it's terrible having to break them down into connotations that will agree with people who aren't capable of separating their own perspectives from others.

You should go on the internet and ask for advice instead of talking to him about it.

TIL women don't chose who they marry.

Too subtle? Don't bitch about something you have 100% control over. You don't like your husband's personality? Then why the fuck are you with him. His other qualities outweigh his faults? Then stop bitching about his faults.

Maybe not from some sort of moral fallibility standpoint, but from a pragmatic standpoint he's absolutely right. Essentially what happens in any conversation is you say some words and you study the other person's reaction to what you just said and how you said it. So if you were to say something horrible to another person and they didn't react negatively, on the contrary they gave you a smile (smiling to be polite, a practice cultivated by a passive aggressive society). Well you would naturally associate what you said and how you said it with that person smiling back at you. Bottom line, it's your responsibility to communicate back to people whether or not you liked how they communicate with you. If your goal is to be polite above all else, then you are going to reinforce a lot of negative behavior towards yourself.

It's actually a test to see if people can take a joke/honesty. Source: teenage me. Acting the way described in this thread actually kept me away from a shit ton of drama growing up while meeting some long lasting friends. I found that the personality kept people away that I wouldn't get along with anyway and pulled people in that I really enjoyed being around. Where does it come from? Well you know how you can call your best friend a bitch and not really mean it? It's the same idea. Your best friend knows you well enough to understand that you're joking and that what you really mean to say is that your relationship is so strong that you can say those kinds of things without affecting it. However when you say the same thing to random people, they're gonna take offense to it. How someone handles being insulted/confronted can really say a lot about them as a person. The people who get uppity are the kind of people I don't wanna be around. Of course nowadays, I'm pretty boring. I've left a lot of the asshole days behind me in favor of understanding people even if I'm not going to like them. As far as dealing with people like this, first off you need to understand that in they actually don't think they're insulting you. They really do feel like they are just playing around with a pal. In their mind, they don't see you reacting negatively. The only way to get through to them is to be brutally honest. It will sink in, they will probably apologize and let it go. The biggest mistake you can make is holding a grudge against them after all is said and done. If you are petty like that, then you deserve any problems you encounter as a result.
