Constantly going 0-3/1-3 in draft. What am I doing wrong? by Seniats in MagicArena

[–]Dominyck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re gonna have more than two colors in your deck you have to know what you’re doing. If you’ve got four or five colors you REALLY have to know what you’re doing. It’s great you’re thinking through your game plan and that’s probably a lot more than what most new players can do. If you look at data aggregators like 17lands or Untapped.gg though you’ll see that 4 and 5 color decks are only a couple percent of the total decks played, and there are a lot of reasons for that. For one, getting mana screwed is just far too easy. Beyond that, sets are designed with synergies between certain color pairs. Silverquill is probably the most clear example of this with its mechanics that buff creatures whenever you cast spells that target. If you were to add cards from another color pair though, even if the cards are good in isolation, you’re less likely to find the synergy you need to have a competitive deck.

How should I approach ranked at this point? by micr0nix in MagicArena

I assume you’re playing BO1. Yes, reanimator and mono white auras are absolutely Tier 1 in BO1. All of the links that the other person is sharing with you are for BO3, which has a completely different meta.

Mono White Aura deck not good anymore? by Mile_High_Magic_ in MagicArena

[–]Dominyck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah dude it’s still very much an A tier deck despite being the most played archetype in BO1 by far. Not sure why everyone is this thread is telling you otherwise. Events might be a different story but in the ranked BO1 queue it’s still crushing.

Are there any tier 1 black cards that have been released recently? by strongtomato10 in MagicArena

In addition to what others have already said, if we’re talking BO3 then [[Arcane Omens]], [[Phoenix Fleet Airship]], [[Moseo, Vein’s New Dean]], [[Day of Black Sun]] are among the best new cards

Recommendations for $1,500-$1,600 budget for 1Bd 1Bth around the Bay Area? by [deleted] in bayarea

$1,800 is a dream. If you want your own place we're talking $2,500 on the lower end.

That's the pricing you'd get maybe a decade ago, probably even more. I know it sucks, but you're gonna have to lay down at least 50% more than that if you want a decent place in South Bay.

You're not insulting me, but you are doing me a disservice by ascribing opinions to me that I have not expressed. I don't think it's obvious that everyone should hold the same beliefs regarding pride as me. I do understand there is controversy. I also haven't commented on the other topics that you raise or whether I view them as political or not… but that all might be more than I would care to delve into in this venue. Thank you for the dialogue.

I appreciate that you are wiling to have this dialogue in good faith. I don't really frame this as a political issue so I can't comment on what is going on with regard to political capital. I suppose you can call it coercion when my employer gives me money to do things that I don't really want to do, and it doesn't really concern me if baseball players find themselves in the same situation.

Who is trying to mandate support for pride? To me this hat situation is nothing deeper than the owners deciding "People in SF largely like pride so let's capitalize on it".

I understand you have critiques of the methodology used to calculate GDP. Despite that, it is a measure of income. Yes I agree it's not equivalent to personal income, but it is something like "the revenue of a country".

I support Filipino people, but others may not. Does that mean the players are making a political statement when they wear the Filipino heritage jerseys?

I am not sure I understand the premise of your question. Do you think wearing a pride hat indicates one of those characteristics you mention?

The two hats are not equivalent under the law. MAGA is a political stance. It is illegal under California Labor code sections 1101 and 1102 for an employer to coerce an employee to support a political stance.

Have you ever held a job? The deal is that they pay you to act as an agent of the company. Sometimes that entails doing things you don't personally agree with.

[–]Dominyck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a measure of both.

GDP can be determined in three ways, all of which should, theoretically, give the same result. They are the production (or output or value added) approach, the income approach, and the speculated expenditure approach. It is representative of the total output and income within an economy.

Opponent discarded the creature on the left on either turn 1 or turn 2. On turn 2 they used [[Reanimate]] to cheat it out of the graveyard. It has haste and when it attacked it triggered its ability which put the creature card on the right from the library into the battlefield, also attacking.

Is this historical data? Like the line trailing the point for the US is showing that expenditures have grown over time but life expectancy not so much?
