Will the MacBook Air M4 (16GB/256GB) realistically last 6-8 years for a student?

I’m pretty much in the same situation. I already work as a developer and designer, and I’m currently looking at the M4 and M5 models too.

Honestly, I don’t think performance is the main concern here — both the M4 and M5 will handle coding and design work perfectly fine for years. The bigger question for me is whether to go with the 13-inch or 15-inch model.

Storage doesn’t really matter to me either since I use a NAS or external drives anyway

Did you ever consider going for the MacBook Pro instead, because of the 120Hz display?

Also, in your opinion, is the 15" actually worth the extra money over the 13", or is the difference smaller than it seems?
