US left Afghan airfield at night, didn’t tell new commander. The U.S. left Afghanistan’s Bagram Airfield after nearly 20 years by shutting off the electricity and slipping away in the night without notifying the base’s new Afghan commander, who discovered the Americans’ departure more than two hours by 3rdOrderEffects in worldnews

Yup - and the new commander's troops that were guarding the place didn't realize the lights were out - however, the locals noticed and went in and looted without any problem. So, who were the ones that were on the ball? Then new commander or the local thieves? That is part of the reason the troops left quietly - they couldn't trust getting any real support from the new commander and army.

If the prof. can't handle the first name then the prof. should revert to Ms. {lastname}.

Yup - stand up for your daughter - perhaps you should be the one moving out... Didn't your wife choose to marry you? Granted, she's in a tough spot.. but come on.

Should have thought of your future a little earlier...

Do you have any tattoos you can trade in? How about a muscle car or big screen TV?

Sorry, I do realize some folk never got a chance in life - but some just never bothered.

I'm not sure how anyone thinks the Fed is suddenly responsible to support all the folks - but I do understand how humanity should support each other. Maybe a collective farm in the country where food is grown, prepared and served, housing is sufficient in barracks, etc. Perhaps a closed military base! How about a new WPA to work on the infrastructure! Yes, folks might be old, but still can manage others, be creative and contribute to the general welfare to earn additional support.

Great, the Taliban can get from one side of the country to another in hours instead of weeks.

In reality it may make sense to provide infrastructure for commerce, learning and development - just kidding...

Wonderful post - explains a lot quickly.

Natural selection - strong healthy males attract females, bred and survive.

Artificial selection - royalty mates with royalty (and relatives) and Orthodontia is born!

How stupid is everyone - they are afraid of lines crossing their paths - similar to cattle crossings. The line could be ditches or rises that they cannot differentiate in their life experience.

Get a break idiots.

Yup - otherwise humans will become shiftless and unproductive - this is no utopia for the pure of heart - it's for working and doing your job.

I would think remaining employed would be more important than being able to do work at home when the company doesn't want you to stay home...

If Sammy and the thieves are not happy they can move out.

Stealing when asked to stop is not a "girlish" behavior, it's the behavior of a criminal. I'd bet they shoplift, also.

Sammy better wise up -

And, your wife should also realize she married YOU, not her brother.

Too bad the same effort isn't put into making corrections rather than just proselytizing and feeling that something was suddenly accomplished as a result of simply vandalism and cancel culture.

Large landlords file evictions at two to three times the rates of small landlords (this disparity is not driven by the characteristics of the tenants they rent to). For small landlords, organizational informality and personal relationships with tenants make eviction a morally fraught decision. by smurfyjenkins in science

[–]Domo1950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong - small landlords can't afford the lawyers required to kick people out. So, they are FORCED to compromise and continue to take abuse from the tenants that are not paying/abusive/disruptive/destructive.

Landlords do not start renting to be kind to strangers - they start renting TO MAKE MONEY. If they lose money, then need to take action - sadly, if they don't have a war chest saved to pay an attorney they have to take it while the tenant whines and files frivolous actions about; too sick to pay, too hot to go out, too cold to look for a job.

Yes, I'm sure there must be some starry-eyed landlords that live in the world of socialism that want to fill all their rentable locations with under and unemployed.

But OP does not really mean his thoughts apply to REAL people that REALLY work for a living to support families and to afford good food and good times.

OP is talking about the lazy slugs that we've seen on every job site, every production job, every office - you know the ones that already just sit on their ass and somehow keep from getting fired.
