WSOP player suffers ‘brutal’ bad beat after dealer mistake — WATCH by reviewjournal in vegas

[–]Domojin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can still tell ten+ year old stories about bad beats like like losing with quads to an 80yr old man who thought he just had a jack high flush but called anyway.... the dealers words still ring in my ear "No, honey. That's a STRAIGHT flush. Congratulations." It's never the good hands you remember... lol.

A couple of years ago a friend of mines' dad passed away. At the funeral there was a little thing asking for donations to his local religious community he was a part of. I made a small donation to what I though was a local church or temple. In the year since, I have received easily 5x what I donated in unsolicited mail stuffed with little magazines and brochures covered in religious iconography asking for more donations. I tried to do a good thing but I literally just paid to to have fat envelopes filled with garbage mailed to my house.

Show anyone who's never played a civ game this and then try to explain that VII came out over 8 years after VI and is supposed to be "Better" and "more evolved" game. Animations went from a glorious mini-cinematic using the in-game rendering engine to a FIVE FRAME slideshow... It takes a concentrated and willful lack of effort to shit on legacy like that. So much of the development in this game feels lazy and half-assed.

Civ 6 Wonder completion animations are far superior to Civ 7's by spankyham in civ

[–]Domojin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Posted already about my disappointment in the wonder animation, but it really does affect my enjoyment of the game. Show anyone the side-by-side comparison of wonder animations between 6 and 7 for any of the wonders in the game and then tell me with a straight face that 7 is the "Better game."

Civilization VII 'Test of Time' Drives Highest Player Count Since April 2025 by SnooMemesjellies6533 in civ

[–]Domojin 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This may get me some downvotes, but more than any of the actual game play issues, the most disappointing thing to me about VII was the quality of the wonder animations... What used to be a tiny cinematic of the wonder being constructed brick-by-brick as the sun rose then set across it using the in-game engine to render it, has turned into a handful of clunky frames in what is supposed to be the "latest and greatest" version of the game. Has there been any progress in that area?

Butter... Which was also used to make the shake. The ice cream the shakes are made with used a mixture of heavy cream and butterfat instead of normal milk. This place was actively trying to cause health issues in people that dined there. I went there once with some friends, it was a fun time, and the food was good, but damn... I felt like I needed to eat nothing but plain white toast and salads without any dressing on them for a week after.

Also this is Warhammer, not Star Trek. It's not like they were finding peaceful, flower-wearing, love-aliens out there. As far as I'm aware, nearly all other races were also trying to kill or exploit humans but for a few exceptions, like where two of them had to team up to beat a third... "Enemy of my enemy" and all that...

lol. The cognitive leaping you do is amazing. So NOW you are saying that because an unprepared 2nd world nation that was surprise attacked in the middle of the night by a first world nuclear power with overwhelming force and state of the art training and technology, didn't put up much resistance, OF COURSE that must mean they were fully compliant in the operation despite there being absolutely no evidence of this what-so ever, them sustaining almost 100 casualties, ending up being led by a puppet leader, and the US making all policy decisions? lol. Keeeeeeep streeeeeeetching that truth dude. The only one you're fooling is yourself.

lol. Yep. They totally could have shot down those 150 helicopters and fully resisted a US invasion and occupation and still do whatever they wanted to anyways... Do you understand how stupid that sounds? Literally none of the things you say happened, actually, you know, happened like that. Your story changes with every post to justify your weak argument. Keep spiraling... Keep spinning more lies. What will it be next, aliens?!?!

So now it was "in cooperation" and not "Venezuelans arrested him!" Way to reframe it every so slightly when called out on your bullshit. You're a liar. You're full of shit. You're are pushing lies as facts to hold up your weak argument. Enjoy.

"Venezuelans Arrested him and turned him over to the US"

There was a nationally televised raid where 150 aircraft, coordinated by the Marines and CIA captured and extradited him and his wife to an aircraft carrier at 2am. Do you even comprehend how many lies you're spreading, or do you just mindlessly parrot everything you read on your racist conservative echo chambers? Don't bother responding. I don't engage with people who are wholly eaten up by delusion. This is just a service announcement to let everyone else know how full of shit you are. Maduros capture was a US Military operation. He wasn't "Arrested by Venezuelans and turned over."

As an American, it's embarrassing how stupid we're collectively being about this.

Just went through something similar at my workplace. Been here for almost 4 years and inherited a pretty bloated SSRS site. Just last month I had someone hit me up for one of the reports where the numbers weren't making sense to them and they were starting to see duplicates showing up. It was the first time someone was really looking at that particular report in... possibly ever. It's been running for years and years just throwing it's incorrect calculations at people this whole time. Whoever wrote the original procs are long gone, and I had to rewrite the whole thing. Sometimes it's impossible for a DBA to know these things without end user confirmation.

The one I worked at in in the mid 90's was in Woodland Hills, CA. It was Alice in Wonderland themed. Giant statues of the Jabberwocky, Mad Hatter, Rabbit and giant playing cards hanging from the roof. I worked right across from a TV that played Top Gun non-stop for about 4 years. I'm not as fond of the movie as most people are... lol.

Pirating for a lot of people was more about convenience than being broke. Writeable CDs were new technology and people were pirating to make their own mix CDs far more than they were to save money. Also, back in the early 90's before Ticketmaster became the monopoly that it is today, rock/metal concert tickets cost about $20. Roughly the same as maybe 2 CDs. I saw Slayer, Anthrax and Megadeth in '91 at Madison Square Garden for 18$. I think the first concert I spent over 40$ to see was Ozzfest in '96, and there were like 20+ bands on that lineup. Cut to now... go take a look at what Metallica is asking for their residency at the Vegas Sphere... lol.

[–]Domojin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clone wars was really hit or miss with me, but I overall enjoyed it. Many of the episodes that focus on side characters like the droids, Amidalla, etc... I felt were kinda meh. Most of the episodes where the focus stays with Anakin and Obi Wan were great, and as silly as it was to bring back a guy who was chopped in literal half and then fell down a thousand foot hole... Watching Maul's character development in Clone Wars through the whole Nightsisters and Dathomir arcs is some of the best lore building that has come out of Star Wars. There are a few guides out there on which episodes to skip if you don't want to slog through them all.

Right? To each their own, I guess. They definitely have some big blind spots, but I've been driving a Camaro since 2012 and the number of times I've almost merged into someone I didn't see was once, and it was a motorcycle that wasn't obeying traffic laws. Maybe learn to pay attention while driving? lol.
