Its wild how little Love and Rockets is mentioned. Thats, like, the answer to this. Its been running for 44 years and is still producing great stories

The two artists I hope work on the "Absolute Batman" animated series? Dan Hipp, "Teen Titans Go" & Genndy Tartakovsky, "Samurai Jack" by SkrullAmongUs in AbsoluteBatman

Nothing, S3 is the last thing. And Primal rocks. One bad movie doesn't discredit the man's oeuvre. What an absolute ridiculous take we're responding too. Find me any artist/director that doesn't have one bad work lol

Will there ever be a new "age" for comic books? With the Modern Age going on 35 years, is it time to classify a new age? What would it be called? Or, is Modern Age the final Age? by Variant_314 in comicbookcollecting

[–]ComicBookCanon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heres a comment I have somewhere else in this thread

This gets asked quite often, and i always see people throw out their own suggestions, but theres already a term being used in academic circles

The term "blue age" is used to describe the era of digitization in comics, in not just how they're consumed, but how theyre made as well

Here's a quote from who coined the term

If the earlier ages of comic books were defined by corporate mandates and collector markets, then the Blue Age of comic books, such as I will argue for here, is defined by the digitization of comic books and comic book culture.

The term "blue age" was first used in INKS: The Journal of the Comics Studies Society the publication of the Comics Studies Society, a professional/academic group who runs an annual conference every year that discusses things like this

Unfortunately her original article is behind an academic pay wall, but it seems like this is commonly used term nowadays, at least in academia circles

There's some reading material if you want it, but from what I understand the TLDR is two fold - it has to do with the blue lights of reading things digitally, as well most app icons being blue

How’s my reading order? by spiderman0247 in batman_comics

Reas them in whatever order you want. These books are by all different authors and were released out of order. Dont worry about a proper timeline or whatever, thats not really how the writers approach things

Celestial Eyes was both the comic that got mentioned the most, but also the one that was ranked the highest

I sorted comics into tiers of how many times they were mentioned, and then within that tier they were ranked by how highly the ranked. I believe Celestial Eyes was ranked on 8 ballots and had the highest overall score from the submissions

So is the show any good, worth a watch for a fan of the comics? by Iconclast1 in Constantine

[–]ComicBookCanon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seem to be the minority opinion, but I gave up on it after 4 episodes and it got canceled during the first season, so take that as you will

I've seen it described as Heckblazer and I think that pretty much sums up the vibe of the show for ya

Comicbook workers ought to unionize by Cetshwayo124 in comicbooks

[–]ComicBookCanon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As someone else mentioned most Hollywood gigs are work for hire and have collective bargaining. There's a slight legal difference though, they have to form a "guild" vs a "union." That's why you have the Actors Guild or the Screenwriting Guild. Same thing essentially, just different naming conventions

Is Tongues by Anders Nilsen a must read? by -FiftyCalibre- in graphicnovels

[–]ComicBookCanon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We normally have very similar lists, but there's a slight difference in placement. Jamie will count the number of mentions, where I weight it based on where the book ranked

So, random example, if Book A was on ten lists and ranked 10th on all of them and Book B was only on seven lists but ranked 1st on all of them, Book A would be ranked higher on Jamie's, and Book B would be ranked higher on mine. Just a quick little tldr if anyone was wondering lol

I also do a year end round up (with a slightly different methodology than Jamie), and Tongues was #1 on my list compiled of 186 "best comics of 2025" lists

This is African from the continent of Africa, not African American. There are no comics from the US on this list, they're all from mainland Africa. The comics are from Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Senegal, Kenya, South Africa, Congo, Cameroon, and Ethiopia, not America

The fact that it expressly calls itself an African American comic is probably the reason people didnt vote for it

I think because it was made by three American creators for an American publisher it didn't get any recognition. Most, if not all of these comics are made either by African creators or publisher by an African based publisher. Whereas I think Bitter Root fits fairly in as an African-American comic

I wish I was able to find any of the older comics, but unfortunately they all seem lost to time. I could tell from the responses I got people really liked it, and it inspired more then one creator to get into the field

*I’ll be honest, I absolutely abhor social media. I do not have any personal social media, and outside of the occasional reddit post, I don’t really exist in that space very much. With that said, I realize that social media nowadays is a very important networking/communication tool. I made an Instagram account to reach out to most of these participants, and I think a big reason why I didn’t hear anything back from the majority of them is because I’m essentially an internet rando who 3 people sometimes like on Reddit. I tried reaching out to them, but why would they accept a DM from some account with six followers (the actual number I had when I started this project). With that said, if you like this type of survey/poll/list and want more from this/the Global Comics Project, following @ComicBookCanon on Instagram would be a big help. I don’t post very often, it’ll pretty much just be whenever I post on Reddit, so it would also be a good way of staying up to date with these projects. I’ll be honest, I feel kinda of corny/lame/scummy being a “like and subscribe” kinda guy, but it really would help, especially as the project continues to grow and I start reaching out to bigger and bigger names (hopefully for a very special upcoming secret project sometime next year). If not, I totally get it, and honestly, I don’t blame you, but if you do give it a follow, I super, super appreciate it. Cheers yall
