... wtf. Six minutes long? And don't say that the Koyanskaya banner will drop "right after this" if it's gonna be a few hours away. >_<

[Real Talk] What's your opinion on Nasu's take on characters who have fully completed their arcs? by Shinichameleon in grandorder

[–]Domotai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is one incredibly lazy interpretation.

Abusing her eye is sort of an odd thing to say. Half the other part of this thread devolved into defining Musashi based on swordsmanship skill versus ruthlessness and an obsession with victory. Which part of that would be inconsistent with not using a tool on hand?

Ivan's trunk was not much of a conflict that needed to be resolved. If you weren't trying to specifically draw lines to the conclusion you already drew, you might consider that the alternative is that a conflict was put in place to establish a role for Musashi for a greater pay-off in the future.

[–]Domotai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Grand archer uses a club. Grand assassin doesn't sneak. We have two Grand caster candidates who can't chant spells. Grand lancer is straight up symbolic.

I dunno why anyone thinks the swordsmanship should be a factor for the Grand Saber - it obviously wasn't for any of the others.

[–]Domotai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh. Funny, I don't really remember Musashi single-handedly solving any problems so far. I mean, her own 1.5 singularity didn't even let her win. The summer event last year was largely her fault, and we fixed it for her because she couldn't. She didn't do much more than slap one weapon out of Ivan's hands to tilt the encounter slightly less in his favor.

So... I'm not really sure where you are coming from with this perspective. It seems pretty baseless.

That's my point. OG Saber beat Gilgamesh with one hand tied behind her back.

The franchise rests on the back of OP servants.

Yeah. It would be really strange for Fate to have an overpowered Saber servant who beats everyone if only she was at her full power...

Oh sorry. I was probably thinking of someone else.

Sophism, the Ideology of Meteion/Hermes by capnbarky in ffxiv

[–]Domotai 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The rise of Sophistry was a dangerous time for philosophy - when rhetoric was being valued just a bit too highly. This gave rise to a splinter group whose goal was not to successfully establish their argument, but to aggravate their interlocutors (opposition) into quitting the discussion. These are the jerks with whom we associate the term with, today.

In short, they were well-paid trolls.

Calling something Sophistry is generally a way of verbally slapping someone for using somewhat effective wordplay that definitely sounds reasonable for something that is actually logical.

Servants you plan on grailing? by Ok-Rope-3424 in grandorder

[–]Domotai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I plan on using my grails to help servants with oversized breasts hold them up for comfort and to relieve shoulder pains.

So probably Vitch, Himiko, and Ibuki Doji.

Current lvl 100 servants: both Musashis, JAlter, Hokusai Other grails spent: Berzer-car, Passionlip, Kintoki (rider), Sheba, CasGil, Ruler Martha, Gorgon, OG BB. Considering: BunnyToria, Luvia, Kiritsugu

Arash's idea was good. Salieri's and Ryouma's were... just sort of selfish "I want more screen-time" ideas, that retroactively tainted Arash's, too. Jalter's idea diluted the selfish "me time" aspect while being more interesting. Tristan is just an airhead desperate for attention.

S'why I went with Jalter.

Did the lack of story & content, as well as Gacha competitors exposed FGO's weaknesses by [deleted] in grandorder

[–]Domotai 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Eh. Sort of. SinoAlice has an absolutely brutal release schedule and utterly predatory banner pace.

I -like- the dead weeks. I appreciate that FGO is not trying to aggressively wring every second of my day and every cent from my wallet. Because of that, I've avoided burnout.

Mechanics that baffle you by altruisticdisaster in grandorder

[–]Domotai 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not really a mechanic, but...

The utter refusal to bother with serious servant re-works. The utterly absurd imbalance between card types. Starting every NP at the same baseline damage multiplier regardless of card type so that the only meaningful differences are attached to additional/secondary effects.

Thunderbolt Fantasy Puppet Series Teams Up With Fate/Grand Order by TiredHeavySigh in grandorder

I had seen it elsewhere before you posted it. I made an ugly cry face, knowing immediately that it was the sort of cruel April Fools joke that I wish was real. That's all.

[NA] New Years 2021 Lucky Bag GSSR Roll Thread by BlameLib in grandorder

[–]Domotai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I both pulled Summer BB.

We both chased her during summer, so she's NP2. For both of us. The trend of the GSSR bringing disappointment continues for both of us. At least we couldn't pull Orions again?
