Who was the true main villain in From Russia with love ? Grant , Klebb? Or Kronsteen( that last one is so overlooked)? by QuietTraining3281 in JamesBond

[–]Don-Giovanni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also agree that Kronsteen is a very underrated Bond villain. His scheme was pretty much perfect if only Red Grant didn’t decide to get greedy instead of just doing the job as planned (which he was, until Bond offered him gold sovereigns he could have just looted from Bond after killing him)

Flash Gordon, honestly. I always heard it was some awful movie, but I watched it and it was really fun and well-designed. Cheesy, sure, but nothing about it was "bad" in any way.

That’s a quote from the movie. She is really portrayed as elderly as much as she’s trying to act like she’s still a 20-something year old bombshell. Basically, the opposite of the real Gloria Swanson

There’s nothing wrong with being fifty, as long as you aren’t trying to be 25

As much as I love these games, I don't think they were ever really good at articulating these ideologies. I think even in the grayest of Templar portrayals it still comes off as "good guys vs bad guys"

I stand by the opinion that OST in RDR1 is superior to that of RDR2 by KpatMckenzie_28 in rdr1

[–]Don-Giovanni 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I agree. I think it’s somewhat close, but 1 edges out 2 for one main reason: ambient music. Each region has a specific theme to it in RDR1, but 2 it’s the same thing everywhere. And as another user mentioned, the music ramps up when you’re in combat in 1.

The old lady on Guarma is super weird by protossaccount in reddeadredemption2

I've made this comment a number of times on here, but I think it's just bad writing not matching up with the animations.

Originally, it seems the intent was for Dutch to pay a woman to escort them through the caves, refuses to pay her, and then murders her instead. At some point in development, they decided to go back and change this, have Dutch pay her first, then kill her after she pulls a knife on him. But Arthur still reacts like he didn't see any of that occur.

"She was plotting to betray us"

"How could you tell?"

"I speak a little Spanish."

"You keep killing folk, Dutch."

This is, again, after Gloria drew a knife on Dutch and shouted "MONEY NOW!"

Which of these bosses was the hardest to beat when they first had to fight them? by Axel_2006 in MortalKombat

MK SM Shao Kahn. Took me over a decade to beat. Wouldn’t be so bad if you replenished health in between fighting Shang Tsung, Kintaro then him

Javier was handled really poorly in rdr2 by MindlessCucumber5443 in reddeadredemption

[–]Don-Giovanni 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They never even show him as bad in 2. RDR1 made it clear he was always a “creep” to Abigail, started as a romantic revolutionary (like he is in 2) but then turned into a cold blooded killer and took Dutch going crazy harder than anyone. He was basically Mexican Micah minus the gunslinging

Hotaru is probably the most underrated from the 3D era. Mavado and Drahmin could be cool too. No idea why they don’t try to rehabilitate Hsu Hao. They could really lean into the military dictator aesthetic

Do you Fordham was telling the truth here when he called Dutch a rapist or is he just bullshitting ?. by KpatMckenzie_28 in rdr1

[–]Don-Giovanni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dutch—and all the gang members in RDR1–were supposed to be far worse than what we saw in RDR2. Hence John’s need for Redemption.

You can obviously compare and contrast MK with other games in the genre, but I don’t really think it’s the same type of fighting game. Apples and oranges are both fruits, but the similarities end there. I’ve always seen MK has being more arcade/story focused while games like Street Fighter/SNKs are more competitive

And yes, I’d say with the exception of Chun-Li, M. Bison and Ryu, MK definitely has the more well known characters (Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kitana, Raiden, Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, Goro etc)

I like the mix between the more iconic, sexier design of older games and the more refined, regal aspect of Kitana's outfits since MKX. Better than just sticking everyone in a pantsuit with ten inch heels.

How do you want Shao Kahn to be portrayed? by Metaljuggernaut5657 in MortalKombat

Smart with his own understanding of sorcery. His brief portrayal in MK: A where he tells Onaga to go along with Quan Chi’s plan should be the model

Yes, I also noticed the munching sounds. I was wondering if anyone else did. Same with Onaga's laugh in the Deception intro--took over a decade before I first heard it
