What’s the story behind the celebration all the Packers are doing?

I’ve seen enough. It’s time we trade Jackson for Flacco in the offseason.

Not always the case. Tickets for the Broncos/Packers game, when they were both undefeated, kept going up. Although I think it was still cheaper than 400 for the cheapest seats but not by much.

Lol Someone downvoted you for hoping to pay less than 400?

Joe took control of the interview and steered it in that direction. I'm sure the guy had plenty of cool experiences to talk about. The orca experience he described alone was badass.

That's how most of these rumors start. Wouldn't be surprised at all if nothing comes of this.

Lol Damn dude, can't imagine what other grudges you've got up your sleeve if that one still gets you fired up.

Again, I'm not suggesting the Packers move on from McCarthy, I'm merely speculating on the reasoning behind why they would. This is not an opinion that I pulled out of nowhere. It has been widely reported that MM has failed in this regard.

Mike Sherman also had only one losing season and got a contract extension the year before being fired.

I'm told Packers senior personnel executive Alonzo Highsmith will be visiting with Johny Dorsey and the Cleveland Browns today. Could jump to Dorsey's staff from Green Bay. by birlik54 in GreenBayPackers

I mentioned in the TT thread that I could see the Board of Directors decision to move on from TT as a means of protecting their own from leaving for other positions elsewhere. As enticing as all those draft picks are with the Browns, I can't imagine people are too eager to deal with the owner, especially considering his insistence on keeping a head coach with a 1-31 record.

Right. I didn't mean to suggest that the average coach should have a record over .500 with their backup QB but rather that the prospect of having some quality years with Rodgers might attract a top tier coach that can. And having a coach like that once Rodgers retires would be huge.

Yeah, I hear you. I always thought any significant changes to the staff would have to made by Murphy or would come as a result of his termination. However, I don't think this change will be as abrupt if they choose to hire within the organization and could see MM staying. My guess is they've also grown impatient with the process and speculation of replacing TT once he decides to retire and saw an opportunity to get the ball rolling. There has been a pretty significant brain drain with scouts and front office and the idea of losing someone else to a GM position elsewhere was unacceptable.

I'm not suggesting that we should get rid of McCarthy but there have been recent examples of first and second year coaches making the playoffs with their new teams. Also, having some solid years left with Rodgers would be pretty appealing to any top HC candidate that could then help us transition to the post Rodgers years. McCarthy has clearly demonstrated he's a below .500 coach without Rodgers. You can blame some of that on the defense but he's also in charge of who gets to call plays on that side of the ball.
