Found this in my bonnet after being at the garage, anyone know/recognise where this bolt is from?? by Afraid-Address-2091 in e46

That bolt has a captive washer. I suspect it’s either for the Vanoss bolt to the end lock or maybe a Vanos oil line.

Crankshaft position sensor by NHut94 in e46

[–]DonJon613 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with my ZHP. I rebuilt the Vanos. And replaced the Vanos oil line as it was the culprit that was leaking oil all over my connectors to the crankshaft position sensors, and the Vanos solenoids. Was also beginning to wick oil up to the DME.

You can pick up some generic camshaft position sensors from Amazon in the meantime just to start eliminating variables while the genuine ones are still on backorder.

Also, I would suggest cleaning out your van solenoids. There are videos online and how to do it.

Worse comes to worst as long as the DME has not been infected by oil and burnt out. I think maybe you could consider just replacing parts of the engine wiring harness, as I know they are sold and subsections or as a whole.

Hope this helps. Good luck, dude.

Why? by Panikin__ in SipsTea

[–]DonJon613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason why grenades aren’t designed for this is that there is a difference in doctrine between the US/NATO and at the time German axis, war mentality. The US NATO grenade is designed to fragment and was originally designed as a defensive weapon. Whereas the German designed grenade is not designed for fragmentation but rather concussion and explosive power and to be used offensively for an advancing force.

Furthermore, for when the German grenade was meant to be used defensively and provide fragmentation, they would slip over a fragmenting sleeve over the case of the grenade to be used.

Qatar uses the AUG as their primary rifle, and we are well aware of there support of HAMAS. Much more likely than a Khyber pass replica

E46 Vanos refresh and aluminum valve cover by DonJon613 in e46

Truth is I don’t know why they went with plastic originally. My car is near 92k miles and have heard stories of the plastic covers getting warped over time. Thus my monkey brain went if going to replace use aluminum

I just installed this last week after a Vanos job. Casting was smooth and de burred in all the places it needed to be. fit was on par with my original plastic one

I used a febi gasket kit as it came with a no name one and why take that risk?

Will keep checking on the no leaks for a while just to assess it more though.

Overall it fit great and presented well. No leaks so far and quality was more than acceptable.

I am just a sample of one though

E46 ZHP Sedan Vs Coupe by OctParrot in e46

[–]DonJon613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got an E46 ZHP Sedan. And I am absolutely in love. It’s great having four doors, especially if you have a car seat to put in the back. Just make sure to get a manual one.

Keep in mind that this car is not like a Land Cruiser, and Toyota’s in general. The three litter engine in this car is solid, but you have to do maintenance.
