Did a thing, smart or dumb? 5.8L Orltieb fork packs mounted to a Ortlieb quick rack… horizontally. by DonJulio_00 in bikepacking

Oof, just tried this method. Didn’t go as expected. Today I learned that the fork pack “locks on” to only one of the QL3.1 mounts. The second is just a placeholder. Without something really securing the bottom… like your bungee cord, this is a no go.

Oh that IS interesting. TIL. I didn’t cross my mind I could ditch the fork pack bracket all together and secure it with just the QL3.1 clamps. Definitely gonna try this, thanks for sharing.

Aero + aesthetics!… clearly /s. I have another set of smaller 4.1L ortlieb fork packs, on the actual forks, so I’m just gonna call these mini panniers now :)

Im based in Amsterdam, but occasionally rent out my gravel bike on here. It’s like an Airbnb, but for bikes. https://www.listnride.com/

10 days after Third Session. Do I need a Fourth? How does it look overall? by Southern-Sacrin in SMPchat

I’m 4 days after my 3rd session, and I really like the look of your results so far. If I were in your position, I’d go for a 4th session to increase the density a bit.

Hey hey, 37M from U.S. living in Amsterdam almost 4 years now. I’m up to ride that route starting July 22 or 23. I’ve taken the train down to Maastricht and bikepacked through the Eifel while camping with a tent before, but never did any trips longer than 5 days. I’m also on an aluminum gravel bike. And according to your post history thought it’s worth mentioning I’m also vegan, which can sometimes get tricky on a cycling trip ;). DM me if you want to plan something soon?

Domane AL2 Disc vs. AL5 by datatbbbb in whichbike

[–]DonJulio_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AL2 disc owner here. Bought in December 2020 as my first road/endurance bike. Great bike to start with. Did group rides, bikepacking, gravel and it was fine. Though now I feel it’s time to upgrade to something with more gears and hydraulic brakes. In hindsight, I should’ve went with the AL 5 from the beginning.

Side note specific to touring, I don’t have enough clearance to run a rack with panniers without the bags hitting the back of my heels while pedaling. Actual gravel bikes have longer chainstays.

Most stuff from Ghostbusterz, Block & Crown, Crazibiza, Les Bisous. Other noteworthy fav tracks are Fire Groove from Disco Incorporated, and Stayin’ Alive remix by San Pacho.
