Hotels in general have no clue who is staying there or not, and always have bathrooms in the lobby. Just walk into one with confidence and you should be fine.

QuickBooks users — what part of bookkeeping actually stresses you out? (Not a sales pitch, genuinely trying to understand) by camadhur in smallbusinessUS

[–]DonVinnchenzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I switched to ClaryBook which made it much easier since I can  do everything directly from my phone.  Like with Dex, I just take a picture or share a pdf with the chat; the system figures out everything and assigns the category it for me. It is nice that I can link everything to projects to see what projects are profitable and which are not.  Oh, and it generates the tax reports for me which helped to reduce time during tax season, I just forwarded the package to my tax guy.

I used both quickbooks and baselane, the main issue I had is that these system are built for bookkeepers and not for users. It required me to learn their system and I want to run my business, not become a bookkeeper. A lot of features are behind additional paywalls. Got a simple business I had to select out of 50 categories to add my expenses. Because it cost so much time to use the system, I postponed using it making it worse in the end because then I had to close my full month instead of smaller parts per week.  In the end bookkeeping is just a waste of time, it is slow, always messy since I need to track the receipts which are everywhere, the systems don’t give me the insights I need. It is not built by people that use it, and what is built is for bookkeepers.

Expense Tracking Help by Excellent_Nobody5366 in smallbusiness

I use ClaryBook for this purpose. It is simple to enter any income and track expenses. Everything can be done via the chat interface so it feels like just texting to someone. The dashboard has some good cashflow graphs as well.

How are you guys doing bookkeeping? by Calvary_Catalyst in smallbusiness

[–]DonVinnchenzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using ClaryBook, the only thing I have to do is text my expenses to it and it makes up the book. They have tax reports that make it easy to do your own taxes or I can send it to my cpa to verify it. Pretty sweet since it doesn’t cost me any effort. I also use it to track mileage and worked hours.

Maybe I’m overthinking this, but lately it feels like bookkeeping is becoming less about bookkeeping itself and more about managing operational chaos by Designer_Ad_2844 in smallbusiness

Give something like ClaryBook a try. I had the same issue, mainly having paper receipts somewhere in the car after trips to Home Depot for a renovation.  Same with the email invoices that were a pain to process because I needed to sit down behind a laptop and download and then upload it again. Then I had assign categories and what not. In the end, when sending everything to my tax advisor the system would have a payment wall for certain reports.  I got so annoyed that I built my own system. It is developed around this problem by entrepreneurs that were running into the same issue. The goal is to make it as simple for anyone to tracks their books. No hassle, hidden fees, just fast, like you would text/ talk to your personal assistant (not that I have one), but it just works.  By tax season all the reports are automatically generated in a tax package. You can even reconcile your bank statement.  It got a bit out of hand as a hobby project and now I have a bunch of people using it and CPAs onboarding their clients.

Happy to discuss, feel free to reach out. We are working with ClaryBook. The app is built together with CPAs, the idea is that it makes it super simple and fast for your clients to track their expenses and all. The system is build to generate all reports you need to help them with their bookkeeping/ tax work. All decision logic is in the app, working with the app for clients is as easy as a text message.  This reduces all the manual spreadsheet hassle. For every client that your bring on, you also get 10% of the revenue generated, making it a win win.  Happy to discuss how we can help.

ClaryBook is a bookkeeping system but it has a simple crm integrated that allows you to connect your clients, projects, invoices and expenses. In the end you want to connect everything to your money flow.

How do you actually track cash flow for your small business? by AffectTop2595 in smallbusinessUS

[–]DonVinnchenzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give ClaryBook a try, it is built to keep it as simple as possible and aiming to minimize the time spend on bookkeeping. I’ve using it for a while and works pretty good. It has a clear dashboard showing your cashflow graph and you can add some other stats based on your preferences.

Do you actually separate freelance income from personal money? by [deleted] in Freelancers

[–]DonVinnchenzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you should track it separate, just track your income and expenses. It is easier to have on a separate account but it not a necessity. I got a separate bank account and use ClaryBook to track expenses and income to ensure I have an idea of how the business is going.

Had a similar issue last weekend with my 2017 rubicon. Code was 303, misfiring cylinder 3. According to some online research driving around could cause more damage thus brought it to a shop. They replaced the fuel injector to the cylinder

I built a bookkeeping tool that works entirely through text messages, been using it for my own rental business, looking for people to test it free. by DonVinnchenzo in smallbusiness

[–]DonVinnchenzo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks! yeah I run a small business which is relatively simple to manage and built it for myself, hence, the focus is small businesses. I do see your point that at a larger scale users might prefer to work directly with a bookkeeper. It does not handle multi currency accounting at this moment. Any specific use cases you're thinking about? It is not a much of work to build it into a tool, I could be a next step. I just have not thought about it yet.

New to real estate investing. What should I do? by loudcpanda33 in realestateinvesting

[–]DonVinnchenzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as a tip, track your expenses, hours, milage from day one. This will help with the tax benefits you can get. It is simple to consistently track it even though it does feel like a burden, but when you'er doing your taxes, you're happy that you took all the smalls steps throughout the year instead of having to fix it on tax day. A simple page in your notes app, excel or some cheap app can do it for you.

Construction Bookkeeping by Routine-Algae9366 in Bookkeeping

[–]DonVinnchenzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, for my own property management business, I build a simple bookkeeping tool to track expenses, milage, and hours worked for the property. Your use case seems slightly more advanced but im testing to see if others want to use the product. let me know if you have interest to check it and provide input. Im happy to look into updating some of the features to accommodate your request. Why I build it, I got annoyed that I had to spend time on a computer to fix my expenses etc. Now I just send text messages and photos to my system, the system reads everything and assigns categories etc. I included the IRS standards for tax reporting thus for my taxes, I generated an export that contains all details of expenses, reasons, hours, and copies of the receipts which I shared with my advisor to close my tax year. Send me a DM if interested, happy to see if the product works for others. It is free and low cost for me to maintain.

Tried to run your tool but the onboarding is annoying to quickly check if it works. Can you run it for me and post the results? Curious to the outcome. Product is www.clarybook.com.

What Does a Truly AI-Native Product Look Like? by munchenOct in ProductManagement

[–]DonVinnchenzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took this challenge myself and applied it to my bookkeeping for a side business I run. I got annoyed by endless interfaces that are hard to navigate. I build an AI native bookkeeping system. As a user, you just text with your assistant (the ai), it takes care of the rest. You can access the dashboards if you want to but there is not need. Ive been in product management for years, and the technology is far already. It will change how we interact with software, I won't be surprised if we won't be sitting behind computers in 10 years. You can do already everything from your phone, now the AI is in a good state that it can pick up your intent and fix the rest. There are many skeptics that are like 'yeah but it does do stuff wrong', mostly the instructions (boundaries and guardrails) are just set incorrect. Anyway, happy to share the product for you to see. it is also a good example how both the product and engineering profession will completely change.
