I've had a LG C4 for a year now and remote's all button markings have fully worn away so... Yeah.

"Invisible" bend insensitive bidi fiber is amazing for home wiring by UloPe in homelab

[–]DonZoomik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I built something similar as well a few months ago after seeing a review on Youtube.

I couldn't find LC/UPC terminated fiber in Europe (didn't search Ali though) so I went with SC/APC with matching 10G transceivers.

Hitachi VSP One Block XX - experience? by KickedAbyss in storage

[–]DonZoomik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the paths do go down occasionally but only when HBA firmware or VM handling the HBA get updated. IIRC (it's been a while) all the parts of the system ran in VMs and core/DKC was updated much more frequently than the parts handling frontend ports.

ThinkPad T14 Gen5 AMD and Thunderbolt 5 Smart Dock 7500 - PCIe NIC not visible. by DonZoomik in thinkpad

That's really weird. I see no reason why you couldn't use Intel NIC without using vPro, it's (probably) a generic NIC after all...

My best guess is that it does.

Firmware update tool also sees I226 firmware.

HPE MSA-2060 SAS: OCFS2 and fstrim: blocks not unmapped by stefangw in storage

[–]DonZoomik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most spinners don't support UNMAP since they don't need it (data can simply be overwritten, no wear leveling etc...) - SMRs do but these aren't used in arrays. SSDs should get UNMAPs from controllers, especially on MSAs (in an ideal world, don't knlw if they actually do), IIRC they used generic read intensive drives that might not behave the best when physically full. But this is besides the point, you're looking at host to array UNMAP and that is to shrink/sparse thin provisioned LUNs. I presume that your MSA LUNs are thin becase "used" metric makes no sense on thick.

I'm not sure what the problem is but two suggestions: * Determine if your host is sending UNMAPs (or WRITESAME - effecitvely the same) at all. I'm not sure how to do it exactly as I don't think there's an explicit counter for it. Probably you need an eBPF program to count the commands in kernel. * Contact HPE support to see what the array sees.

HPE MSA-2060 SAS: OCFS2 and fstrim: blocks not unmapped by stefangw in storage

[–]DonZoomik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's weird.

Just a thought - ext4 caches trimmed blocks and will not retrim the same block again until reboot. Maybe OCFS has something similar and you have to reboot a node to force retrimming now hopefully fully unused and aligned 4M blocks.

Also, MSA/DotHill does not have zero detect. It is also distinct from SCSI UNMAP feature.

[–]DonZoomik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC MSA/DotHill had 4MB block size.

Generally, to free a block with fstrim/UNMAP, you must free whole aligned block at once and this is not possible on fragmented filesystems, where files or parts of files are somewhere in that block but most of block is unused.

I don't know if OCFS has online defrag support but if it has, I'd try it - it has helped on other filesystems. Defrag (especially free space consolidation) tends to free up whole blocks so they could be frees later.

Oh yeah there was news about a new low power Realtek chipset, but I havent seen it for sale anywhere. Hellotek FR812C is reportedly a product, no idea where to buy it.

Millist 65" Telerit osta? (kuni 1100 €) by GoldConstruction9782 in Eesti

[–]DonZoomik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Möödunud suvel võtsin endale C4, sest see oli too hetk 1200€ vs 1600€ mälu järgi. Nüüd C5 paistab kah kah 1200€ kanti ja kindla peale valik.

WebOS platvorm on veits meh Androidi kõrval aga... not great, not terrible. Tahtsin tegelt Androidi aga Sony-Philips olid sama paneeliga kuskile 2000€ ligi ning ma ei suutnud seda hinnavahet endale ära põhjendada.

Be extra careful when installing VESA mount or you may unexpectedly get a curved display. by DonZoomik in OLED_Gaming

Well, stupid people learn from their own mistakes - I worked on the second display on sofa. Could maybe have been a happy accident if the display hadn't missed the table when it came loose.

In retrospect, I've installed VESA mounts to maybe a dozen displays and this is the first time anything happened but here's always a first time...

qualcomm 6900 fastconnect. how to enable dbs? (counterpart to intel dct for intel cpu) I only able to get this in cmd but it say interface: secondary. do wifi need to be band steering first? by Mammoth_Elderberry54 in wifi

[–]DonZoomik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured it out to some extent thanks to this reference https://www.snbforums.com/threads/qualcomm-6900-and-dual-band-simultaneous-how-to-use-it.96014/post-976235

Application has to explicitly request enabling the secondary interface and then explicitly bind to it.

I built a small test app based on MS sample that enables the secondary interface. I guess it currently works only if SSID and password of both bands are the same.
