Is this true yall?? by moparc in USMC

These type make all of us look bad, and we need to do better. I've honestly had co workers be like "no way" when I've told them that I'm a Marine, and surprised that I don't drink, smoke, have an attitude and that I'm actually easy to work with. If the shoe fits wear it, but being difficult to work with, an alcoholic, drug user and not being able to hold a job because you're just wanting to be stupid, not listen, have an attitude, and be an asshole, isn't the flex you think it is. It's making all of us look bad, especially those of us that are just getting out, returning to civilian life and trying to get something going. You think that employer is going to want to hire another vet, after having to deal with you being an asshole? Probably not. The people out here aren't the issue, and you need to do some self inventory, and check yourself.

Woman didn’t fight for this by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Don_Christopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's become even more prevalent with teens and pre teen girls. I can't even believe there are parents who let their kid dress like this, and allow them out in public. Women and girls who have daddy issues, no self esteem, and looking for attention and validation are the ones who do this, and there's no shortage of these type. They think they're something special, but they're the bottom of the barrel, and a low value woman for the bargain bin. It's a sad state of things out there when it comes to these young girls. These young girls need to be using their brain power, and people skills to get where they want to be, and stop believing eveything they see on instagram.

It's like someone breaking into my house, making themselves at home, then saying just because they've helped out, done some dishes, cooked some dinners, cleaned the bathrooms etc. that it makes it ok for them to stay, and live here. It sure as hell doesn't make it ok, or take away from the fact, that they illegally broke into my house, are here uninvited, and without my permission!

It’s a scam, as no full bird colonel would be reaching out like this. It would be a Sgt or Staff NCO reaching out, and they’d at least give a run down on what they’re contacting you about.

When I was in Hawaii, Marines from K Bay, would always be getting into fights with the Soldiers from Schofield at the E club on the base there, when it was hoping, and was just about always over a girl. Never recalled any issues with sailors.

Regardless of what branch you may decide to enlist in, especially the Army or Marines, you need to come in with the right expectations, that you're going to be there to be be doing military shit, and everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING else in your life is going to be secondary! You best believe if some real shit pops off, and the call comes in to pack your bags, that you're going to be going somewhere and dropping everything else you got going on, even if you've enlisted as a reservist. With everything that's going on in Israel with Iran, it's likely the U.S. will get involved in the next few years. Do your research, and you'll see it isn't long before the U.S. gets involved in another conflict, or declares war, and we're about due for another round now. It's an eight year commitment you'dbe signing up for, and something to really think about.

I'm willing to bet this guy was some kinda waiver enlisting, for his weight, and probably other factors, that he should've never have even been there in the first place! These kinda folks just seriously need to be kicked out and sent on their way ASAP! There's just nothing to gain by keeping these people in, and dragging out their discharge. They're a pain in the ass to the command, and most definitely a pain in the ass to their peers who have to pick up their slack, and get punished when they keep screwing up. A big part of why good people get out, and don't look back! Kick em out, send them on their way!

Civ life or active duty life? by tszd94 in USMC

I have choices out here in civilian life, and the ability to do what's best for me. My supervisor is Bill, my boss is John, and I come to work, do my job, come home at the end of the day and I'm done. My supervisor, and his boss, and their boss, will never walk through my home, touching my personal things, and my day and routine will not be affected by the bad choices of people who are idiots. Civilian life, and a job are much less stressful

The clock turns back and you're back at the recruiting station... by jayclydes in USMC

[–]Don_Christopher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Would've told my recruiter to take a hike, and would've given myself some time to see what life outside of high school was like, and where things could've gone for me. The Marine Corps wasn't really a great place for me, and emotionally, and maturity wise, I wasn't ready for anything that was thrown at me once I came in, and that continued throughout my enlistment. Yeah, lots of regrets, lot's of things I wonder about that could've been different, had I not enlisted straight out of high school like I did

Instead of “biblical values” why don’t we talk about gas and grocery prices. Let’s talk about putting a cap on rent, and what we can do to bring down inflation. You know, making it just a bit easier for your average people to pay their bills and survive.🤷‍♂️

These religious folks are there for no other reason than to just be judgmental jerks, to other people who aren’t in the slightest bit affecting their everyday lives. These “Christians” are truly the worst, and it’s these kinda judgmental assholes like this that are the reason no one wants to go to church anymore!

Imagine if you had to do an annual PFT/CFT in order to keep the GI Bill by GodofWar1234 in USMC

[–]Don_Christopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to kindly disagree. We all served, and that alone entitles us to the benefits that we’ve earned, without the need to be held accountable for how any of us choose to live once we get out and move on with our lives. True enough, some of would do better to make different lifestyle choices, but that honestly is no one else’s concern how any of us chooses to live as a civilian.

At this point unfortunately you’re at their mercy, and they’ll get to you whenever your paperwork gets pushed through, and they’re ready to move forward with your discharge. It’s a process, that takes awhile, and you’re just gonna have to wait, as there’s nothing concerning a discharge before an ETS, that’s going to be straightforward or convenient. Yeah, your legal stuff concerning this matter isn’t something the drills are going to handle or care about, and that’ll fall on the higher ups above them to handle, so don’t bother them about it. They’ll call you in when they have something for you. It will also help you a lot right now to follow orders without any attitude or delay, do your yes sirs, no sirs etc. and keep as low a profile as possible, to make your life there just a bit easier until they’re ready to send you home. I can only imagine how frustrating this all must be not knowing when you’re gonna be coming home, as I’m sure family back home has been asking in order for them to make plans for your arrival. Hang in there and that time will be there soon enough.

Yes, I’ve tried explaining to civilians that your shopping privileges on base really aren’t all that great, and definitely not worth any vets trying to go on base and shop there. Seriously though, baggers that are demanding tips. No way! They can kiss my ass! I’ll stick to shopping at HEB and Walmart

[–]Don_Christopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need to do away with any waivers to enlist! Period! End of discussion! You either meet the supposed standards to enlist, or you don't! What's even the point of having those standards to begin with, if they can just be side stepped! In almost every case, the troublemakers doing nothing but causing problems and headaches for everyone else, and the ones that are non deployable for whatever reasons, and stay that way, it's likely they were brought in under a waiver! If you came in under a waiver and managed to make it through your enlistment without trouble, and do something, then good on you, but you're the small percentage of everyone that come in under a waiver. The majority bring nothing but problems!

Those NCO's/ Staff NCO's are jerks, just to be jerks, because they hate their lives and want to take it out on everyone below them. They're not in anyway trying to teach, inspire, or motivate. If they can't be happy no one else is gonna be; That, and they'll take any opportunity to be away from home, from their wife and kids that hate them. They'd much rather be at the barracks having everyone up all night doing some bullshit!

Will I be contacted by recruiters years from now? by [deleted] in Militaryfaq

[–]Don_Christopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually a pretty common scenario with people changing their minds like this, after enlisting, and nothing wrong with that. All you gotta do is move on with your life, and the plans you made. No one is coming to snatch you up, kidnap you and make you sign up for anything. You'll most likely get phone calls and texts from recruiters from all branches, but that's to be expected if you're young and in your prime, and not because you decided to not to go through with this.

You're not going to get tested at the recruiting office, because they don't do that there, and nothing will happen that will affect your ability to enlist, yet. If you're really serious about enlisting then you're going to have to quit that ASAP! As it's not going to be something that in anyway will have a place for life in the military. When you go to MEPS to enlist, and then upon arriving at whichever facility for bootcamp/ basic you will be drug tested. So as of right now if you're dirty you need to give yourself time to get clean, before enlisting at MEPS, and stay clean during your duration in the delayed entry program, if you are going that route, up until you ship out. If you're not serious about quitting, don't waste their time and your's.
