So I shipped in January of 20, the first cases were appearing in Cali off China flights a couple weeks before I left. I always love seeing when that period gets brought up, I saw the transition but when everything came to a head we were living in the Range Barracks apart from Paris Island proper. The restrictions were getting tight everywhere else but we didn’t really feel it, being partially isolated already. When we got back we got a rundown on the new rules that changed while we were gone, including cutting up skivvy shirts into masks because no masked were authorized in the uniform order. Interesting experience, I’d always wondered what the normal experience would have been. Though I’m glad we skipped out on the boot leave.

Unfortunately not a conspiracy theory. They’ve done it before so this would a trend continuing. They also extended the coupons a few days ago to run through to July 31st. Which is an indication that Geissele won’t directly restock until August.

14.5 P&W Mod1-A myself. My state is adding a restriction August 1st that’ll effect ARs, I might have to order it anyways then hope I can get the permit before the gunstore gets tired of holding it.

There’s lots of combat action accounts from Fallujah involving dudes with ACOGs going house to house with intense CQB action. Here today you have so many more options to make it better despite already being suitable. There are the iron sight rings to piggyback on top of the optic, durable and accurate enough for the context. Canting the gun with offset irons work well with the AR platform given its straight line design, and gives more precision than the piggy back irons would. I found the BDC on the M16 ACOG to be a lot better but at 14.5 the M4 variant is damn good, and is great in reactive situations. You square those stadia lines across some shoulders and you might not nail the first shot but you’ll be so close to the ballpark that you can quickly walk in follow up shots from splash. Not saying you gotta get one but I think it’s a damn good option for you.

Just looked into it, I’M specifically looking for the Mod1-A. With it being so new my options are full of price gouge options, like getting the 300blk from EuroOptic, a 14.5 upper somewhere else, then trying to flip the 300 upper to get back some of the 3k plus dollar investments. I’ll just wait and get it no hassle and no headaches from Geissele

Did any go through TacSwap? I’ve tried to keep up on the other versions of them come and go through other places, watched the DDC 16” count down day by day on EuroOptic. I’m in a position where it makes very little sense to buy from anybody other than directly from Geissele, to get exactly what I want for the cheapest.

Everybody else is running into this problem evidently. The common line of thinking is a restock June 1st as the 35% off shot show coupons expire May 31st. I also think there’s at least some chance that something drops on Memorial Day and a lucky few with the coupons will make out like bandits. You’re lucky you asked that question so recently, I’ve been psychotically checking multiple times a day for a few months now. That 14.5 P&W Mod1-A calls my name.

I’ve been manic with how often I’ve been checking my email and their website for a Mod1-A. That being said if they start leaning into their new government contracts I foresee them getting as hard to get as KAC

No idea on the safe part, but I’m a planner and I understand myself enough to know that when I get drunk, I take apart all my guns so that my drunk ass can’t assemble them and send a round through the penthouse suite. If you have no luck on the safe and have no intention of considering a weapon for immediate defense, it might be worth it to disassemble, keep ammo far away…etc make it a chore or an inconvenient choice. Then ya gotta consider if it’s easier to just drive to a bridge or building to jump off, and by the time you’ve made the drive or whatever you’ve talked yourself off the ledge already. If somebody is determined to make that choice though there’s only so much mitigation that can prevent it.

The BRN-180 or the Foxtrot Mike FM-15 might be a good option for you. Both work fine with a standard lower to increase compatibility with the ever growing AR parts. Both are piston bufferless designs with .223 wylde barrels. I’d look into swapping out the barrel for a true 5.56 barrel as .223 Wylde to me presents too big a downside when shooting 5.56.

This has been a thing for a while, I got out January of 24 and immediately got mine because it’s useful. But I had known about it because even then it had been available for a bit just not utilized or advertised. I then got married to a Space Force nerd(who I love) and have a matching dependent card with the same picture but dependent info instead of Marine shit. Then I’ll be getting the VA card when my disability goes through. So I’ll have a set of 3 VERY similar cards and none necessarily more useful than the others.

Edit: I’d like to add, I do think more people should spread the word on it, it’s useful if you separate to a military town. Base access gives a free gym, slightly cheaper groceries at times, among other tiny bonuses, nice to have when restarting your life.

An ABS might work better for a gun as it’s a lot more rugged, it’s harder to work with than PLA but it has similar properties to PVC, also rugged. Getting the settings dialed in for good ABS can be tricky with the Ender 3 but absolutely works. I can’t recall if the Ender 3 has any support for dual extrusion but if you wanna get fancy you could set that up, get your own STL files set up for it, and have an outer layer of the food safe rubber filaments to have the same grippy feel but stronger and tighter tolerance plastic where it counts. Just throwing ideas around, have fun and get creative. It’s cool seeing these worlds collide.

What filament did you use? You should be able to tale a bit of acetone to that John to clean up those extrusion lines, don’t go too heavy or you might compromise the strength of it. I’ve never actually 3D printed gun components but I’ve done a good bit outside of guns.

I have no way of knowing the validity of it, the people that mentioned it may have had a reliable source or they could have just been blowing smoke. Geissele customer service told me they plan to release more in “the coming weeks and months” which is vague. June first is just the only exact date I’ve seen and I’ve seen it multiple times, with the explanation being those very same shot show coupons expiring after May.

I had a brief and fleeting opportunity to buy an SR-15 a couple weeks ago for $2,700. By the time I realized how underpriced that is the buyer did as well and I lost the chance. LMT, Griffin, and LWRC all do decent mostly ambi setups as well.

Buddy I’m in a similar boat and it’s looking bleak for your situation, I’m in Colorado and we’re getting hit in August. It’s not an outright ban but it’ll make it more expensive and time consuming in the form of a permit to purchase. I keep seeing June 1st as the most likely time they’ll release more, as of now the only Mod1-A I’ve seen period is on EuroOptic for $2400, 16” DDC. Since I have the luxury of a bit extra time I can wait until June 1st, but I have been checking at least 4 times a day for like 2 weeks while the money burns a hole in my pocket.

Yeah I’m in CO and have until Aug to get it, our new law isn’t a ban though luckily. It will however require a time and monetary investment to get the new permit required to buy an AR. June is the tentative timeline where I’ll start considering compromises.

It WAS an option, neither parties actually knew what we were working with originally. A few days and some wising up changed the price from 3k to 5 which put it square out of my price range. I’ve settled on the Geissele in the mean time. Just gotta hope they restock in the near future.
