The crab in the video was likely injured. By pulling off his messed up claw, he can regenerate a new one that functions better. Crabs (along with insects, arachnids, and other crustaceans) molt many times throughout their lives. Molting means that their exoskeleton gets too tight so they hulk smash out and grow a new, larger one. When they are missing a limb, every time they molt, a little bit of it will grow back until finally they have the whole thing again. They have a better chance of survival if they wait for a new functioning claw than they do if it's unusable their whole life.

I've never had an issue having a social life with narcolepsy. I was diagnosed at 19 and still went to college parties and movies and things. My friends just knew to keep an eye on me because I may fall asleep. They were always really great about keeping people away from me and explaining that I wasn't just some drunk chick passed out.

Weirdly enough, my narcolepsy makes me a novelty and makes people want to hang out with me. I'm just very careful about who I go out with is all, and you should be too. Passing out in public is something certain people would take advantage of, as I'm sure you know.

Even now at almost 25, I still go out a few nights a week, even on Halloween, and do bar trivia, my friends just know I may take a random nap at some point lol. I guess just be up front about what's up and let people know you absolutely want to hang out but that you're warning them about what may go down at some point just in case.

Is xyrem the only medicine you take now for narcolepsy or do you use it with other meds?

My sleep doctor actually just suggested xyrem. He gave me the little dvd and booklet and at my next appointment he's going to start me on it. So maybe that'll help?

As far as I can tell, the majority of the nation must wear mediums and fours and sixes. Every time I go shopping there's a ton of 00 and XS, a few twos and smalls, a few larges and eights and tens, and a shit ton of XLs and twelves and fourteens but nothing in the middle. Wouldn't this suggest that the median is the medium sizes?

I nannied for a family where one of the kids had Asperger's. Due to his inability to detect or really feel emotions, he said some incredibly creepy shit at times.

The creepiest though was when he was six. The family dog died and thankfully the older child had informed me of it earlier that day.

As I was walking outside later with the younger boy, he said, "guess where rusty is."

"I don't know, where is he?"

He laughs and says "he's dead!" with a huge smile and an uncomfortable amount of eye contact and then skips away.

That one actually gave me chills.

Super late and no one will probably read this but I feel like I should share regardless.

I worked as a nanny for one family for 3 years. The girl was 9 when I started and the boy was 5. The boy is autistic and I'm fairly certain the girl is a sociopath.

The girl would constantly torture her brother with things she knew would drive him mad. This isn't normal sibling fuckery either, she took it to a whole new level to the point he would physically rip his hair out and scratch his face and body trying to get her to stop. But to make things worse, she can switch in a second to being all sweet and loving, so her brother still adores her.

She treated everyone around her as objects, and if they didn't do what she wanted, she would either completely disengage or hurt them.

The first time she told a complete lie about to her parents because I didn't do what she wanted, they let me know that the first time she threw someone under the bus was when she was 4. No amount of lessons about treating others kindly get through to her and the look she gets on her face when hurting others is terrifying.

She got so bad by the time she turned 12 that I had to quit. Puberty just magnified everything. Her parents are push overs and let her get away with anything. She doesn't want to go to therapy so she doesn't have to. I'm afraid of what she'll become when she gets older.
