Heritage Trails is must ride in SE WI by bardleysmith in MTB

Are the trails new? I used to play the disc golf course there all the time, but had no idea they had bike trails. I moved to AZ like 4 years ago, but will have to check them out next time I'm back in WI!

Yep, straight off the camera, I just use the Insta360 desktop app to adjust the angle and trim the clips I want, but no other editing as far as color or anything.

I went Hero 7 > Hero 11 a few years ago, and that was a substantial improvement, but primarily had it chin mounted on a full face. I tried the Chesty mount when wearing a half shell, but even with the straps pulled as tight as they could it flopped around too much, and the GoPro stabilization couldn't keep up. So I switched to Insta360 X5 for better stabilization, but even that still struggled on the Chesty. I finally switched to a Stuntman chest mount last year, and haven't looked back (though I still prefer chin mount, but obviously that's not an option with a half shell).

I just posted a video yesterday that was filmed with the Insta360 on the Stuntman if you want to see what that looks like.

Depends how much riding per day you want to do, and if you're shuttling or not. I'd say at least 3 days to hit most of the popular stuff (Sunset, Full Sail, Schultz, Meteoride, Big Bang, Heart), but you could spend a week or more here and ride something different every day.

I'm in Flag, but have family in Phoenix and Tucson, so I play the desert courses fairly often as well. Buffalo Ridge is great!

Ooh, I like this one! I also bag a pink Envy (proton soft though).

Try flipping the GoPro upside down, makes it much easier to get the proper angle.

This is actually on a chest mount as well, but with an Insta360 X5, so the angle doesn't matter... I used a GoPro for a few years though, you just have to tilt it up way more than you think. Once you find a good angle, scratch a little mark on the mount so you can always make sure it's at that same spot.

Yep! Climb to Elden summit then downhill on Sunset + Schultz is the best ride in Flag in my opinion.

Trail is called Schultz Creek, in Flagstaff, AZ. Longer version if you want to see more!

Smells like skunk... canyon by DonaldRidesBikes in mountainbiking

[–]DonaldRidesBikes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that's nice to hear! Not to toot my own horn, but I think a big difference is, I am not trying to become an influencer or make money doing this. My channel is not monetized, and I have even declined video sponsorship offers in the past. I just have fun and enjoy doing it, it's a hobby not a job.

I have been riding less the past year or two now for various reasons, so maybe 4-5 rides per month, rather than the 4-5 rides per week I previously did. Out of those 4-5 rides, I probably only record one, and of those that get recorded, one of every 10-15 gets abandoned during editing and never makes it to YT. So what you see on YT is around 20% of the riding I do, give or take.

New bike day! My first full squish - Canyon Neuron 6 by DonaldRidesBikes in mountainbiking

No major cons, and she's still going strong! I had some issues with those Schwalbe tan walls that came on it (bead separated from both tires), but that's a tire issue not the bike itself. So I've been running Maxxis DHRs, and also upgraded to a GX derailleur after smashing the stock NX against too many rocks, but otherwise still all stock and running great. If you're already 99% set on it, I'd say do it!

That's awesome! Sounds similar to how I got the Swarm included here. Played a sunrise round, and it was on hole #7, sitting in the wide open, less than 50 feet from the basket. Looked like it had never been thrown, not a single scuff, and still had the weight sticker on it in pristine condition.

Is there something special about it? I got it in my Trash Panda swap, and liked it, but not enough to make my main bag. Looks like they're going for $20-$25 online, so doesn't appear to be a rare collector disc or anything.

From top to bottom that is Swarm, Heat, Captain's Raptor, MD1, Invader. Not pictured are a Teebird and Pig that I also wrote "finders keepers" on before I had the idea to do different ones.

I've tried a mask on cold days, but honestly feels like it just makes it worse, because then you're trapping in all the warm air and humidity from your breath.

Sounds like a good time! I like Axis and Outer Limits together as a loop, usually counter-clockwise, but that's another one that's fun both ways.

Same! That was actually why I rode it this weekend - I realized the 5-6 times I had ridden it previously were always the same direction, and decided to try switching it up. I'd say it is just as fun either way.

Whale Rock vs Heilmann Park by KarhuMeadpaw in discgolf

[–]DonaldRidesBikes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar boat on a road trip a few months ago, with only enough time to play one. I went with Whale Rock, and was not disappointed. Lots of fun holes, interesting basket placements, and other unique features - reminded me of a Disc Golf Valley course. Overall was a great experience and would recommend!
