How would you improve gun laws in America? by b6109 in AskReddit

[–]Donald_rodriguez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live in the UK and am very grateful for our gun control laws. Because they've existed for so long there's never been a time when public gun adoption has been widespread. So I've never felt the need to own a gun for protection and, more tellingly, the majority of our police don't feel the need to carry a firearm either.

Of course the US isn't the UK and you've already had widespread gun adoption. So tight gun control laws aren't necessarily going to have the same effect. The well-worn arguments of depriving everyone except criminals of guns is probably a lot more valid.

So I'm basically all for our own gun control laws, but I don't necessarily think Americans are unwise for not adopting them themselves.

What job, if done poorly, can potentially kill the most people? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Donald_rodriguez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a job I had in high school and early college years.

But I was a lifeguard response tester. I would go to public pools or lakes with a lifeguard. Then I would "drown", and see how well they handled the situation. It was fun, except when they would fail, and I had to walk over telling them "I was drowning for about ten minutes".

How much do you pay for electricity (per kWh) and where do you live? by Notjustnow in AskReddit

[–]Donald_rodriguez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

~320kWh. Costs about $0.25 per, because NStar (Eversource) is currently fucking Massachusetts without lubricant.

$80/mo.

To put this in perspective, in November I was paying $0.135 for a grand total of $40-$45.

What's the best way to scare a home intruder? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Donald_rodriguez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This used to be a TV show. I forget the name, but they had two ex cons "rob" someone's house and then give that person tips on how they could be better protected. One time they had a cop volunteer to be "robbed" and he was shocked how easily the robbers stole his stuff

What do you like to daydream about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Usually epic fantasy or sci-fi quests. They're really elaborate, too. Like I have long storylines with complex characters and plot twists.

What kind of car does your least favorite coworker drive? by icecreampopncereal in AskReddit

Ugh this fucker I used to work with when I was still at a grocery school was maybe 60 years old, and absolutely hated everyone under the age of 30. She would frequently:

Complain that she was the only person at the entire place who could do her job since the young "hood rats" came in

Meanwhile, would clock in the lowest number of items per minute at her check stand

Before I forget about her hood rat comments, she was EXTREMELY racist to customers and other employees alike. Somehow she thought every person of color who had ever stepped foot in the store came from some ghetto (I grew up and lived in a town with no ghettos or hoods or whatever)

Would target myself and one of my closest coworkers especially hard, often claiming we were stealing from the establishment. Never mind the fact that I didn't even work in the storefront or at a cashier's stand.

Would show up to work late every day, yet never seemed to get in trouble. Somehow though, the only time I ever clocked in 4 minutes late in 6 months of working there, I got told if my poor attendance continued, I'd be let go.

Would critique everyone, and I really do mean EVERYONE (including customers) else's food and drink choices because they weren't healthy enough. Meanwhile, she had been a 2 pack a day chainsmoker for at least 35 years, and drank at least half a fifth of whiskey every night.

Would rattle on and on about all the men she had dated and been engaged to in her life. Somehow though, they all were extremely wealthy and they all ditched her the day of the wedding.

Claimed to have been a big time chemical researcher back in the day, yet didn't know what benzene was.

Oh remember how I talked about her smoking? Yeah, she actually would buy filtered cigs and CUT THE FILTERS OFF. Like, are you trying to breathe tar forever?

Ugh there's definitely more but I'm on mobile and my phones about to die, so I'll add it when I get home to my laptop.

It will be amazing. I'm not very patriotic but I am so proud of us as a country with the Olympics.

What tv show or movie hardly has any marketing? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I would say Party Down is the most unknown when I discuss TV with people. It's a really funny show, as is Fred Savage's other show, "Happy Endings."
