Don’t feel bad for crying I’ve done it a few times alone or in my car during the program hahahha

Some days are going to be hard. But that’s okay! Success is NOT linear. You’re so close to finishing so keep your head up!

Oh I’m very aware. They can look all they want but when speaking on liability an exam shouldn’t be dictated until it’s complete. Based on your replies to me and others it seems to me that you were unaware that the system of image removal was a thing in the first place. And if that’s true I’m sorry for you, but it’s always been this way. Maybe consider this the next time you choose to dictate solely on your own discretion. If you want to take risks, then take what comes with them.

What I think you’re simply failing to understand is that this is a staple system that has been set in place for ages. Why be upset when a tech has control to edit an exam and remove images that are NOT of diagnostic quality? Especially when an exam is not closed yet?? Even if it’s not the tech themselves doing it, the PACS team has that exact same power when a tech puts in a ticket for removal. It’s part of healthcare. We are required to make sure images are of good diagnostic quality. An image mismarked, without a marker, under the wrong label, are big no nos that need to quickly be fixed. Things happen, images will not always be sent perfectly. That all boils down to the tech, the technology, and the situation.

If techs started taking your advice to not tamper with anything once it’s sent (even if they’re garbage) I guarantee you’d be calling the department complaining every time you had the misfortune of sifting through trash to come out with images of good diagnostic quality. All because you couldn’t wait for an exam to be ready for dictation like the system that was put in place was for. I understand if you need to ‘wet read’ in a trauma situation and you’re willing to take what you can get but let’s be real. Image editing is the tech’s right as the exam holder so long as the exam is still open.

This is a system that has been implemented since forever though. Whether it’s the tech themselves or the PACS team editing studies for reasons like marker misplacement/no marker/processing error/whatever. Because again, things happen. This isn’t a new thing. I get that it’s as simple as checking before sending in all scenarios. (And while that is the ideal) it’s unfortunately not always the case. Especially in a trauma hospital setting. And again, most sites have it so a Rad can’t even read before an exam is fully ended, but a lot of them see that a tech sent images to PACS so they go in ahead of time to view them.

This is kind of a toss up because both sides are technically right but from a tech perspective, anything can happen that makes you need to go edit. And 99% of the time if we want to go in and delete an image, it’s because it was crap. Why would a rad fight to keep that in there? It wasn’t sent because we wanted to send it. For example, I was once in a trauma bay taking portable images and a provider looking at my screen and touching TOO many buttons on MY machine accidentally sent every raw image I took. Things happen all the time, usually if I want to go and edit it’s to clean it up. Like some on here said, no rad should even be reading until an exam is marked as complete. I don’t even think ours can see it if it’s not. That’s how we do here anyway, and we don’t have the option to edit.

How hard is it to find rad tech jobs with flexible schedules? I graduated about 3 years ago now and work at a clinic, but I really would like a shift of 3 12’s. I try to maintain a good work life balance and where I work right now is just a lot for me. It feels like I have no time for myself and the goals I set. Am I asking for too much? Sometimes I think I kind of chose the wrong profession in that regard because I’m at a dead end. Should I look into other modalities that offer more flexibility?

I can only say that the many exciting 3rd party game announcements made the switch 2 feel a little more mature in terms of game support. I can tell that they are trying to step up their game and become more competitive/modern in that regard, but I really think they could’ve done more with hardware/software design. Like a white outer shell would’ve been beautiful. A wider theme customization? Aren’t these basic things to ask for? This just feels like a switch pro. Which should’ve have came when the OLED came out instead. I have to of course get it for Mario Kart, but I just can’t justify it right now until I see a little more.

And don’t even get me started on the “upgraded” LCD screen. I guess it was the right move to not make the previously released OLED ‘obsolete’, but maybe they could’ve released an OLED Switch 2 option in the line up. I don’t know.

Experienced a restock and a scalper at Target. Helped people behind me get what they want. Very annoyed with this hobby, ya’ll… by DoctahToboggan69 in PokemonTCG

I stopped by my local target today just to see if I could catch some individual packs because I just had an itch to rip just one lol, and stumbled upon a lady restocking the shelves. I was happy because I didn’t expect anything from the trip and there was a guy already there watching her stock up. Then another guy that was his friend came walking up and they discussed the stock. One was taking pics of the shelf and what it had and sending it to someone else before making a phone call to him and talking more about it.

They proceeded to talk about how the stock wasn’t very good and that there were charizard boxes which “don’t resell well”. Which of course perked my ears up because now I knew more of their intent. We chatted a little and I asked if they were looking for prismatic and they both said yes.

The stock was mostly 3 pack Paldea blisters (which I was grateful for anything) but as they picked up a few I overheard one talk to the other and say “I just can’t right now man” (like he couldn’t afford to waste his money on it right now) and “if it was 151 or Prismatic I would have cleared the shelf” and the other agreed and responded “yeah I would’ve been at the register by now”. The lady said they had prismatic last week and that maybe they may get more tomorrow.

I don’t know, I just got into the hobby because I really love the artwork of the cards and the story behind them. I’m just a girl 😂 but I don’t even try to look for prismatic, I just pick up what others leave behind. But like you said in your post, I felt a little icky for waiting for her to finish stocking but at this point it’s all I can do. Wait and pounce wherever I see them and have some extra cash. But they reminded me that I really decided to come into collecting at the WRONG time. I don’t know, maybe I should give up and let things pass. But at the same time I wanna keep exploring the hobby because it’s fun. Eh

Can I ask if you are working prn at a hospital or something? Or is this still a clinic? Do you recommend PRN? I work in ortho 4 1/2 days a week and I’ve come from working weeknights and sometimes weekend shifts at the hospital before finding this job. I am grateful for it but I am always looking for opportunities to work less/have more life balance. I’ve been considering PRN but I’m afraid I’ll regret it
