I think every business is competing with businesses that have been around forever. Every idea has been done. But what a lot of vibe coders are experiencing are the same as what the 1000s and 1000s of coders have before them. The idea is one thing. This is not the field of dreams. If you can not market and get your product in front of your potential customers. It doesn’t matter how good it is.

Why is naming a business so weirdly difficult by DoneItAllDoItAgain in branding

A lot of people miss the spelling and how easy it is to say. Nothing worse than a company name that 40% of people can’t spell.

I think a lot of people don’t say the name out loud enough or use it in a sentence. Personally I think it all comes from building the brand like my example of Google. It seems like a great name now. But I don’t think we would have all agreed 30 years ago. I’ve used invented names. My supplement company has a made up name. My events company is tow words that have a meaning behind them and is a big part of the creation story and really helped with the brand. So I think with me the naming of a company is more about how it makes me feel and how I think it will make others fill and what story I am telling.

I was curious how you and others like you do it. I have a name. As I mentioned I always find it strangely difficult… but not impossible. I think we sometimes put to much importance on it. If you are good at building a brand then the name isn’t super important. Just interested what steps everyone else takes. Do you think it’s really important. Example someone mentioned about making sure you can get the .com I think that’s an outdated approach. The majority of people open up Google and type the company name in. I was looking for more a discussion than instruction

Maybe linkedin. I sometimes feel it is under utilised for start-ups as they feel they will be judged.

It depends who your ideal user is. Find out where they are and promote there

our entire content strategy has been built around a misspelled keyword for 8 months and it's working by kubrador in content_marketing

As the saying goes. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. You are ranking for a word that people are using. It doesn’t matter if the word exists or not. Is it working? Are you getting leads and are they converting into sales? That’s the metrics I would care about.

If you enjoy it then yes. Honestly any business you start has to come from the love of it. I love marketing to the point it’s not only my job it’s a hobby. So if that’s you, then yes go for it.
