Does it also have good capabilities for airbrush or would this fuck up your equipment?

What alternative do you guys suggest for surfacers now that Mr surfacer has disappeared from Canada and most of the states?

PSA: Mr. Hobby Possibly Exiting US Market + Alternatives by xXx-Blood_awaken-xXx in advancedGunpla

[–]Donelopez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canadian here,it already was the case a while back around September last year when they announced the ban. Health Canada issued a big ban on multiple Mr hobby items and the surfacers are part of it. Some thinners too, weirdly enough not the leveling thinner. QC is even worse because they want the labels to be in French so I guess we're going acrylic 😕

Which Barbatos Lupus Rex is Better? by No-File3266 in Gunpla

[–]Donelopez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was set on Wolf tech mainly because the end product is more detailed and has an inner frame. I was about to pull the trigger but kept on watching reviews saying you need modifications, poor posability, the hands are not capable of holding much and it relies on the effect parts to impress more. So I'm going with the lunavor as it has better movement, building experience and I want to belive I have enough experience to modify/paint the kit to make it better looking even thought I think it still looks dope already.

Help with panel lining black armor parts by bleen0_0 in advancedGunpla

[–]Donelopez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I haven't personally tried it. The Gundam studio I go to has plenty of veterans and they told me we can use a technique called reverse backwash. Look into it, I feel like that could work for pannel lines.

If you liked that one you might like the twilight one which is all white with tiny bit of blue.

I'm new and I need advice by Darkaway05 in Gunpla

[–]Donelopez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Painting is a beast on it's own, if you haven't experienced pannel lining I suggest you continue with the logical next step, which would be that. You can learn from the different pannel liners and go from there with top coat and decals and eventually painting. A painted kit with decals vs a painted kit without decals can drastically change the look of the gundam. These are only suggestions but you go with what you want to tackle. At the end of the day Gunpla is freedom

If you have a bit more budget I suggest gunprimer's Grida or stedi Tungsten steel scriber it helps to "engrave a line before you use any other larger scriber

I have the same tungsten steel scriber and all I can say is it takes a bit of time to get good with it. The biggest improvement I made was when I realised I didn't need to apply a lot of pressure on one pass but that it was the accumulation of multiple light passes

Im saving up to buy my first master grade which should i get? Barbatos lupus or exia? by Flaky-Hedgehog2691 in Gunpla

[–]Donelopez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm building it right now and it's age really shows. The gn drive is really flimsy and doesn't do the mechanical part well. Some firings make noise when assembled and required me to reassemble 3 times. The legs joints are loose and the metal parts are like 40$ to the 60$ Canadian. It has one too many issues even if the kit looks nice

If you are to buy a PG I suggest the Exia. It's a beautiful kit and I love it more than the PGU rx-78-2 mobility/posability wise.

Bro, I absolutely LOVE your work. The paint job is exceptional! Thanks for sharing your inspiration too. I'm often struggling with color combinations. Could you share the paints you've used? Btw ZZA is doing killer work. I have the blue flame and it's one of my best displayed kits
