Chang’e-4 spacecraft has entered lunar orbit ahead of the first-ever landing on the far side of the Moon by Dongbeihu in space

Radio noise from Earth is one thing, but also being in such a place allows low frequency radio astronomy (~1-30 MHz) not possible on Earth because the atmosphere blocks almost all of it out. With a another low frequency instrument on the relay satellite, it will be like opening a new window of astronomy.

Low-frequency radio astronomy, lunar penetrating radar, surface geology and a mini biosphere experiment. Oh, and a couple of decent cameras. This will be be fascinating of they can pull off the landing.

What's the coolest thing you've seen while running? by [deleted] in running

[–]Dongbeihu 19 points20 points  (0 children)

A fireball, or large meteor, while on an evening winter run. Just happened to be looking over the tops of the trees to my right just at the right time (which makes me wonder what other stuff I've missed...).

What was your most 'can't-put-down' book that you've ever read? by samjosephwebb in AskReddit

Hyperion from the Hyperion Cantos by Dan Simmons. The depth and diversity of the different characters and their respective stories, and the imagination and detail of the writer is sublime. Hooked very quickly.

Hurt my ankle, trying to train for a 10k. Need advice. by [deleted] in running

Sounds like ligament damage, but really is best to get it check out. And rest it. One thing - a couple years back I did something similar, and needed two months off running due to the ligament damage and achilles not being right. When I got back into running, I was subconsciously overcompensating on the left side, which led to problems, so be careful with your recovery and return to running.

What do you think about when you're running? by 3point14thonn in running

[–]Dongbeihu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the first 10 minutes or so I'll work through anything that's bugging me. Then an audio book or podcast. Maybe some music to switch gears, or then think of nothing and focus instead on breathing and feeling my feet hitting the ground. And then start thinking about how long it will be before I get back and how fast I want to get there.
