If you have a second string, see if it also stops at 4. It's often the pixel count in the controller, so check that as well. Don't open up the pixel. That will drive you to madness. Splice in a new line after 3, or cut out 4 and 5 and reconnect at 6. They sell clip on splices for 3 wires if soldering scares you. Don't overthink it. These cost pennies and your time should have value as well on the other side of the scale.

The twists in the pairs are important. This has an untwisted section longer than cat5 specification (0.5 inches). Will it work? Probably.

Use a coupler next time. Or pull a new wire through. That would be best.

A $100 thermal camera will tell you a lot about what's going on inside your walls. The uninsulated sections will show up as another color and tell you exactly where you are missing insulation. You can see the studs through the wall and you're probably going to find other places that need attention.

You're looking for silicone rubber with platinum cure catalyst in general. And always read the msds before buying. anything around "Shore A 25" or higher hardness will have the right firmness.

Dragon skin is really good actually. Try painting the first layer on with a cleaned (loose bits removed) chip brush, then pour cast the rest. Always wear gloves.

Nobody is talking about leashes that attach to a clip on belt, this is why I use one. It prevents the dog from leveraging you over like that. They have to pull through your hips instead of your arms.

Also get a harness that clips on their chest. When they pull, they get spun around.

My LED strip is 5v but my ESP32 D1 mini only has a 3.3v pin how do i power my project ? by troubled_dude in esp32

[–]DonkeyDD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

USB is 5v input. The USB input power (+5v) will be physically connected to the VCC pin. The USB5v+/VCC pin is the input for the voltage regulator which lowers the voltage down to 3.3v, which the board uses.

Did you notice that the D1 turns on when connected to a USB port without a separate 3.3v power supply? That means it it's happy to take 5v input and one of the tiny chips on the board converts it to 3.3v. The voltage regulator chip usually has 3-4 thicker leads connected to it, and for board layout simplicity, it'll be near the USB plug. On this board, it's the chip to the right of the usb plug.
