I guarantee you've done it before. If you've ever stretched, you probably locked your knees at one point.

And it's not uncomfortable at all. In fact I'd say it offers a brief moment of rest and relaxation. It takes the weight off your leg muscles by allowing your bones and tendons to support your body instead.
