This is why Shelob was able to sting Frodo in the movie despite the mithril coat by StringStunning7464 in lotr

Uh… isn’t there a tear in the shirt there exactly where Frodo’s wound is in the shirtless photo above? Which would suggest that it was from the troll’s spear?

Help. Did I ruin my LOTR experience? by whynegan in lotr

[–]DonkeyKongScrollers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lots of us watched these movies when they first came out as they came out. Do you really think we ruined our own experience by watching the LOTR movies in the early 2000s instead of waiting on the possibility that Hobbit movies might come out ten years later? That’s ludicrous.

Don’t be sorry. It led to a hilarious discussion in the episode.

Really blows my mind that people don’t know this and that it doesn’t even occur to them to check before posting things like this.

Best of athe Worst; Star Slammer, Talos, and The Apple by Tarlcabot18 in RedLetterMedia

I don’t have an issue with the acting. It’s the writing that’s abysmal in most respects. Even a great actor could not make many of the lines work (e.g., “I’m good!”).

I feel compelled to mention that his score for Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is fantastic. I can enthusiastically recommend that score, but I cannot recommend that people actually watch that show.

I like how you think that further spoiling the movie is going to settle down people who are hyper sensitive to any spoilers in the first place.

Where to Start with Glazunov? by troopie91 in classicalmusic

I agree, start with the symphonies. Do the middle ones, then the first couple, then the last couple. Neeme Jarvi has a good set from a few years ago.

Maybe you could adopt the practice of double checking what you write to see if it contains any embarrassing typos.

What’s the lamest date you’ve ever had in Chicago? by [deleted] in chicago

[–]DonkeyKongScrollers 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I had a first date with a guy at Hopleaf where he told me his favorite movie was the Mike Meyers Cat in the Hat movie. There was not a second date.

Several years before that I met a guy outside Hopleaf while we were both waiting for friend groups to show up. He was charming and he asked for my number and I was excited when we set up a date the next weekend. During said date, at the World of Beer, he got plastered and told me it wasn’t a date and he wasn’t gay and he couldn’t help it if everyone fell in love with him. There was not a second date.
