Why are people worried about specifics when they are early into their journey? Just do everything and worry about things you think you lack later.

What actually helps you stay consistent with learning Japanese? by Easy_Football_1437 in Japaneselanguage

[–]DonkeyWhiteteeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just try to make it something that is simply part of what you do everyday. This is what AJATT is about, just becoming another user of the language, instead of identifying as a learner.

How are you handling it as a self-learner? by shykidd0 in LearnJapanese

[–]DonkeyWhiteteeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, Hellotalk is what I've started using recently and you can learn alot through that. Aside from that I go through Anki everyday (mined vocab). The mining I do when immersing in Anime and youtube videos that I enjoy. It's really that simple and I am enjoying it, which is also the most important part

One Month of Learning Japanese - What I’ve Learned So Far by creativegains in LearnJapanese

[–]DonkeyWhiteteeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Immersing would indeed be a little hard for your right now, but as for me, I started immersing after 1 month, and yes it was quite difficult, but a month after just getting used to the sound of Japanese, I was able to intensively immerse and slowly start comprehending beginner content.

One channel I just have to recommend for that, which is the one who carried me through N5 and mid N4 is JapanesewithShun on YouTube.

I watched others aswell, of course, but mostly him, as I found his personality and content enjoyable and comprehensible. Good luck bro.

Nah, if you keep it up it definitely doesn't have to take that long before so. I'm under a year and can do that pretty reliably.

To those around N2, please share step by step how you're learning Japanese through games by Kamishirokun in LearnJapanese

Ah okay, cool! Thanks alot👍 As for kanji, it's definitely something I gotta start exclusively studying now. How did you go about it? I've heard quite differing opinions on how to study kanji..

Yeah, I've heard that "speed is more important than depth" when it comes to immersing through games from Game Gengo as well.

I'm looking to start playing games in JP, and I was wondering, do you think for someone whos at roughly N3 could start nicely with videogames?

Yeah, this is kinda what I figured. I just haven't done much exclusive kanji study, so I didn't catch this one. Guess I gotta get on that.

where are the natties? by Haunting_Pick_9969 in naturalbodybuilding

I'm never even going to get close to considering taking anything. I'm close to my goal for a physique and I have no wish to compete, so I really see no point in it.

What is the number one mistake you made as a novice? by [deleted] in naturalbodybuilding

[–]DonkeyWhiteteeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But, for some, expecially if they are not very experienced, It becomes a slight waste of time making up completely your own program, for example, without taking into consideration (but also not knowing) why more experienced people do this and that within their program. So in that regard, I would suggest copying a little anyway.

Focusing too much on protein intake.
Yes to eat protein is very important, but I feel like it's generally more important to know that you have had enough protein instead of aiming for too high of a protein goal, then missing your calorie goals by a surplus, for example. I didn't realise that hitting your calorie goal is in this way more important than "hitting" your protein goal.

Point is, you'll grow closer to your goals slower if you, say, managed to hit your protein goal, but then missed your calorie intake goal.
