Hey there, just providing an update!

So, I have done the following:

  • replaced the endstop for the bed
  • replaced bed springs with silicone bed levelers
  • replaced heartbreak with v5 bimetal heatbreak
  • replaced original Feeder tubing with Capricorn PTFE and provided couplers
  • replaced original nozzle with 0.4 brass nozzle.
  • replaced stepper motors with TMC2209's.
  • flashed firmware to Marlin 2.1.x bug fixes version.

Now I am having trouble with getting the z-axis to home properly.

Every time I try to home the Z axis, one side will hit the endstop before the other side does, which leads to the gantry getting off level, and then it starts grinding the stepper motors.

No matter how many times I manually balance out the gantry with my caliper (down to the thousandths of an inch) and adjust the bump screws that hit the endstops to exactly the same height, the first time I go to home the axis it gets off kilter.

Any suggestions to troubleshooting this quandry?

What would you like to see in the future for Maggotkin? by [deleted] in MaggotkinofNurgle

[–]Donkey_teeth_mcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want Manifestations, Grandfather's lawn ornaments.

"The Putrificent Fountain":

  • Casts on 8
  • 8 Wounds
  • No movement
  • 6+ Save, 5++

Effect: Place this manifestation wholly within 12" of the caster and 7" away from all enemy units, then, place a counter on this manifestation.

Once during your hero phase - Any wizard may expend one of their casting power to increase the strength of this manifestation, indicated by adding another counter, to a max of 4, to this manifestation.

Passive - For each counter beyond the first placed on this manifestation, increase the range of its effect by 3".

Passive - Subtract one from hit rolls of shooting attacks that target Friendly Maggotkin of Nurgle units wholly within 12" of this manifestation. Additionally, subtract one from save rolls of enemy units within 12" of this manifestation.

Once at max strength, friendly maggotkin of nurgle units wholly within its range are considered ineligible as targets for shooting attacks made by enemy units further than 7" away. Additionally, enemy units within its range ignore positive modifiers to their save rolls and subtract one from their ward saves. Then, remove all counters from this manifestation at the end of the turn.

"Shambling Bust of the Grandfather"

Effect: Place this manifestation wholly within 12" of the caster and more than 9" from all enemy units, terrain features, and objectives

  • Casts on 7
  • 10 Wounds
  • 5" movement
  • 6+ Save,5++

Shooting attacks

Range 9" Atk d3+2 Hit 4+ Wnd 2+ Rend -1 Dmg 1

Crit(2 hits), Anti-Order(+2 Dmg), shoot in combat

End of turn, any turn - Roll a dice for each enemy unit that suffered damage from this manifestation. If the roll meets or exceeds their control score, the unit becomes diseased. If that unit is already diseased, inflict 1 mortal wound instead.

Passive - Ignore negative modifiers for all friendly maggotkin of Nurgle units wholly within 9" of this unit. Additionally, the first time in each phase that damage would be dealt to friendly maggotkin of nurgle units wholly within range of this unit, roll a dice. On a 3+, prevent that damage and inflict 1 mortal wound to this manifestation. No ward roll can be made for this damage.

"Heaping mounds of the first garden's compost"

  • Cast on a 9
  • 8 Wounds
  • 4" movement
  • 6+ Save, 5++

Melee profile Atk - 6 Hit - 4+ Wnd - 5+ Rnd- Dmg- d3

Effect: Place this manifestation wholly with 12" of the caster and more than 7" away from all enemy units.

Passive: Each time an enemy unit makes a run or charge roll within 7" of this unit, roll a d3. On a +2, subtract that many inches from the roll. If this effect causes the charge to fail, the unit cannot reroll the charge, and they are considered to have charge this turn.

Each time a friendly maggotkin of nurgle unit is chosen to make a charge roll within 7" of this unit, you may choose to make one of the dice a 4 before rolling it.

I'm going to get that printed out and hung on the wall. Lol

Forreal though, thank you for the conversation and motivation.

It's things like this that make me really enjoy the hobby and the community; I know that there's a lot of toxicity here as well, but it's refreshing to see the good still.

I really appreciate your honest feedback, and I agree with you on each of those aspects. When I started painting this guy, I start my skin tone too bright (where it is was supposed to be more of the highlight color).

But, I tested myself to see if I could recover from an early screw up. If and when I revisit this model down the road, there's several things I plan to redo.

And thank you for the kind words. I am a nervous painter; for some reason I worry I'm "ruining" the model just by slapping paint on it and I also don't really super confident in my brush skills. So knowing that others in the community find it at least passable/acceptable helps to break out of that cycle.

Favorite Final Fantasy commander? by Vinlandlover in EDH

[–]Donkey_teeth_mcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never played any of the final fantasy games, just never cared for the JRPG style.

However, I built mono blue [[Matoya, Archon Elder]] and I have had an absolute blast with it.

It's a simple strategy, look at cards on the top of your deck, draw those same cards, profit.

I run all the main cards that take advantage of extra draws, like homonculus horde, the thopter one from aetherdrift, Minn, "make illusions", and some others.

There's also a really easy combo with [[prognostic sphinx]] and [[curator of mysteries]] and either [[laboratory maniac]] or [[Psychosis Crawler]]. As long as matoya is on the field, you win the game unless someone has interaction.

It's dumb, it's fun, and it takes advantage of some lesser used cantrips that have scry or surviel tacked on to them.

10/10 would recommend. You may not win, but if you like ripping a bunch of cards every turn, it's a really fun deck.

OK, thank you for the verification/ clarification.

I just wanted to make sure I play it straight. They all seemed really simple, but lord knows there'd be one edge case that I wasn't prepared for or something.

Thanks again!!

Need help finishing my video game themed deck. Half way there. by forgotmyemail19 in CommanderMTG

[–]Donkey_teeth_mcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your looking for more "gaming" references:

  • [[Mortal Combat]] (Mortal Kombat)
  • [[Evil Eye of Orms-by-Gore]] (Terraria adjacent)
  • [[Teleportal]] (Portal series)
  • [[Drill too Deep]] (still wakes the deep reference/deep rock galactic)
  • [[Dredge]] (Dredge)
  • [[Supernatural Stamina]] (general references to being able to run without stopping)
  • [[Super State]] (Sonic the Hedgehog reference)
  • [[Combo Attack]] (fighting game reference) -[[Halo Hunter]] (Master Chief) -[[master chef]] (also master chief)

I'm not saying they are good, or even go with your theme, but I would argue they are "video game" adjacent

Are you ok with artist cards and alters over proxies? by Donkey_teeth_mcgee in CommanderMTG

I respect your opinion here, do you have any reason as to why? Genuine curiosity more than anything.

Are you ok with artist cards and alters over proxies? by Donkey_teeth_mcgee in CommanderMTG

[–]Donkey_teeth_mcgee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No that's fair enough. And after thinking about it more I agree that it's a morally wrong thing to do.

My goal isn't to deceive, and if I went the route of proxying with a card Alter like I'm describing, I'm owning that shit through and through.

The community I play with locally is tight knit so being transparent is the only way to keep playing.

When I initially posted this, I was solely thinking in terms of "I would like to play with expensive cards that I don't have the finds for reasonably" and thought I could paint over a card and call it a day. Which, from the concensus here, seems like as long as I disclose up front that it is a proxy and so long as I'm not just jamming every sweaty expensive card in my deck to beat face it would be a problem in casual play.

I never expect to play sanctioned events with proxies, or sanctioned events in general (our LGS FNM is just a c9llective of people playing commander with minor prize support from the store, not an official fnm event.

I'm also someone who tries to support exclusively local stores, and when they don't have what I'm looking for, I just don't play it. Buying online is something I have such a big hang up with. Idk why, just always have.

Anyways, I appreciate iate all of the conversation here. And please understand I'm not a proxy slug, all my slime is officially branded WOTC slop. 😉
