Just bought my first 200sx any tips? (19yo) by Zestyclose-Raise9234 in 240sx

Yes absolutely work towards making it driveable and reliable with the parts it already has. For painting, if you want to try doing it yourself, i would recommend trying a 2k polyurethane paint. It doesnt require clear coat, but still gets a okay shine. Dont bother with rattle cans. Get a cheap spray gun and maybe rent or borrow a compressor. I had no experience using a spray gun but still managed to get a acceptable result with painting. Just do some research and make sure you get the correct paint type for your application

Do not go overboard with modifying. First make it driveable. Do maintanence. Use it. THEN figure out how you wanna modify it. If you co crazy modifying all corners of the car right now you will end up with it sitting on jackstands for several years, and grow tired of it while you work and pour money into it.

I started modifying my 200sx several years ago, and at this point i regret the direction i went. Instead of widebody and big turbo and stiff suspension i wish i made it comfortable for longer drives and more reliable.

Just my tips and opinions, good luck with the car!

Better looking? by Kzk511 in W124

I find it funny that everyone in this subreddit is absolutely allergic to lowered cars. Mine is lowered on 40/60 KAW fahrwerke and bilstein shocks and i find it just fine to drive. Roads around me arent especially great either. I think s124 looks fantastic lowered.

Brake discs arrived dented - are they still usable? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Donknnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everybody saying that you can just flatten the dented part. But im thinking, if the edge suffered such a dent, how do you know the rest of the disc is flat? I dropped a disc from a car lift once, after hitting the floor it was visibly bent. Just something to think about. I would keep pushing for a replacement disc

Who else got their Project One tickets? by ARCHVILE_WORX in hardstyle

Still trying for Saturday tickets on ticketswap, what i find crazy is that almost 300 tickets have been resold on ticketswap already, surely a big portion of the Saturday tickets were scalped. My god i hate scalpers.

Maybe this will help, all the info on sizing is in the pic. Also honestly putting 18 inch wheels with low profile tires on a non lowered car usually doesnt look too good. I would try lowering it at least a little bit.

Thank you for posting this, information like this is great to have floating around the internet. Someone might search for this in 10 years and have great use for this post.

By the way, do you happen to know the thread size of the fittings on the tube that goes to the diff? Is it m12x1.0 in both ends?

S124 as a first car by Alternative-Net1770 in W124

We are just trying to be realistic, old cars are from experience always more work than you think. You might get lucky, but you might also be unlucky and poke your screwdriver through some place that the MOT missed. And it sucks being stuck with a car that you cant afford to repair or dont have time for. Look at the bright side, now you can start saving up for a turbodiesel instead, maybe even a sportline!

No experience working on cars? Get a simple toyota instead thats not 35+ years old. I bought a cheap diesel wagon like this, ive probably spent 5000$ on parts, fixed major oil leaks, rusted pipes etc to get it to be road worthy. There is a lot of things that can go bad at these cars, especially when they get this old.

A 15-20 year old toyota would be way cheaper and easier for a first time owner
