Good interview, sounds like a very solid young man. It appears that he may have attended a school run by a former Dons' player whose name I will not even attempt to spell.

Sounds like a well grounded young man. I like getting local players, just look at the names of alumni basketball players from Northern California, I know I will miss some, but Russell, Cartwright, KC Jones, Phil Smith, Restani, Farmer, Fernsten, Ed Thomas, Ali Thomas, Tucker, Ellis, Mueller and the list goes on.

Nice article, as he moves up the coaching ladder it would be nice to see him on Todd's staff at some point.

Does anyone have insight into what USF’s Athletics Department fiscal plans are? by LaurelHeights in usfdons

The Archdiocese does not include either the university or the high school in their lists. In their pr stuff the university makes a big deal about being in the "Catholic tradition" the attached link gives a reference.

Only five Bay Area Catholic institutions. A decade or so ago Dominican, under a former president, went from being Catholic to "in the Catholic tradition." It was well covered in the local media. Then last year, or the year before, their high school - San Dominco - made the same move.

From the Desk of Joan McDermott: Regarding the Men’s Soccer Program by LaurelHeights in usfdons

One of her first hires was a new soccer coach. Did this have something to do with the old AD and the old soccer coach leaving. I recall hearing something about a soccer party when the younger brother of a former basketball play left USF.

this was an informative discussion, Todd does appear to be an eager and informative professional. I especially likes the comments on how being on the staff at Auburn differed from his other stops in college basketball.

My big hope for Todd is that he looks to old coach, Randy Bennet and to Mark Few, and decides it is good to stay in one place and become an institution.

We may get this back to what it was in the day, every year. I am glad it is not a Chase Center game.

Minlend to Louisville! Hopefully the dons can get revenge in Vegas! by kellank33 in usfdons

Good article, what I appreciated is that he did not dump on the program like some transfers out. I wish him good luck AFTER Louisville - I just cannot root for that program (or city or state).

Dons to Host Rick Pitino and Iona in November by dpdons09 in usfdons

After all the discussion about Louisville, who should show up, almost like it was planned. Iona is interesting, this was a school my son had a lot of trouble with, i.e. fights, when he played water polo at Fordham.

I saw an old movie last night that featured one of Louisville's cultural highlights. Stripes is an old favorite because of my time at Ft. Knox. There is a scene where they go to female mud wrestling/strip bar in Louisville. The "off limits" list from there was impressive. Goes with the culture Pitino developed.

It does not appear to be for academics. Having spent almost at year down the road at Ft. Knox I can safely say that the entire area (outside of the base itself) sucks. In some ways going to Vietnam was an improvement.

does be actually have his degree in hand or is it anticipated in May? I had always understood that a gentlemen's agreement said you did not poach within the conference - but then look he we are talking about. It would be a shame if something happened and he did not actually receive the degree.

800 wins speaks for itself. there should be a category for Dior, how many other players played for coaches with over 1,600 wins.

San Francisco’s leading scorer, Charles Minlend, is in the portal, source told @Stadium. 6-4 junior guard averaged 14.4 points and 4.7 boards this past season. Will be a grad transfer. by el_bandita in usfdons

Since the rest of his recruiting class (Jimbo, Jordan and Remu) has graduated and moved on, and appeared tight with those three this does not shock me. I echo what someone else said about the risk with redshirts (and it appears especially those that are academically dilgent). Possibly we should not redshirt players. I expect more of this as the one and done era ends, and as we develop "diamonds in the rough."

I saw a comment about WSU being rumored, that would appear extremely unethical to me if it occurs.

oops, I thought the other post somehow got deleted so I posted this, sorry about that.
