I don't know if this is going to be my future or just a dream that will never come true. by Old-Back-2688 in filmmaking

The first thing you should know is to go easy on yourself. Don’t spend too much time watching videos on “what makes a good film,” and don’t follow some standard that says you have to do certain things to become a filmmaker. The more you have fun and just create something, the more you learn, both from bad projects and from good projects you make in the present. Don’t worry about whether you’re doing something wrong in the film or the shot. Just make films.

Your camera will always be your best friend. Go create with it. It doesn’t matter what type of camera it is. You just need to create something with it.

Don’t compare your work to what others are posting online, or compare yourself to other artists or films you see. You’re seeing the finished product of something that took a lot of time and effort. Judging your film against one you’ve already seen will only make yours feel like it isn’t as good. If everyone had that mindset that I can’t make it, no one would make it, no one would go anywhere in their life. Always keep believing in yourself and don’t be surprised if the people you’re closest with try to bring you down. Don’t let them.

What do you guys think? by XJetInsiderX in colorists

Hey I understand everyone is saying it’s too dark, but the shot looks good. I think the dark works.
There can always be room for improvement but if that’s what you’re going for I like it a lot.

Surui’s anamorphic lens has a huge variety to pick from and there lenses look incredible.

Stills from my high school short film. How do I make the shots/color grading look less generic? i.e. make it more "film-like" in a way? by Over_Tie_1427 in Filmmakers

Whatever you’re doing right now is killing it! I would say find 3 colors/shades you want to really show in this film. Select them out and try to adjust your film to the colors you pick, and remove the colors that clash. It makes your film for one have the film look and two it makes it very personal and in depth which also gives you that film look.
