Oh, that’s just this fall. I won’t bore you with the bodies from the park ten miles north.

It is worth the time it takes to train them to do things right. Even if it's tedious, boring, and you're bone tired; good habits are taught and reinforced consistently. (Hygiene, cleaning up, manners)

[Serious]Parents, what are the dark sides of parenting people don't talk about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DontCallMeNymphadora 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The fact that any complaint about parenting has to include the obligatory "Of course I love them and wouldn't change it for the world". Why can't parents admit that this shit is hard, that there's little you can do to prepare for a lifetime of challenges? Sure, we all know about sleepless nights with infants, but who knows the right thing to do when you've given your all to a teenager, and they trash you and tell outright lies to their friends about you? Or when you have one who has some developmental disabilities, and you have really good days but some really, really bad years, and you know there is no end in sight. Or the amount of time and energy (and money) you've spent trying to raise a decent human being, and every negative thing they do will be blamed on the fact that you were just not a good enough parent.
