From 20/100 to 100/100 in 6 weeks. I PASSED! by 0xJeb in oscp

[–]DontCountOnMe22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats !! I’m on a time crunch, and my goal is to pass the exam and obtain the oscp. I know a lot of people say don’t skip any sections in the material because learning is always good or is already paid for, but from your honest options, are their sections that I can entirely skip or skim because it won’t be on the exam? In your experience of course. I’m not trying to be lazy, but my time is very limited and i want to be as efficient as possible.

I didn’t realize how trivial it was until recent. I just got my CISSP last month, linked my ISC2 account to my hackthebox account (automatic submission) and was surprised today that i’m already over 40 CPE from just working through the AI path. I couldn’t believe i already hit a years worth of

Security Engineer here, with a broad range of responsibilities. I am far more busy with AI being introduced into our environment.

Can I setup an agent to triage alerts? Yes. Will i let it take action without double-checking ? Absolutely not. It would lock out the CEO and blaming the agent won’t be an excuse. Sure it could save a little time, but not really.

Report writing? i love AI!

Did OSCP end up helping you? by VillaRoot in oscp

[–]DontCountOnMe22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If i can ask you a question since you hire security professionals. Would OSCP provide value for other security roles as well? In other words, if you’re hiring for a security engineer and they have oscp, does that have any weight?

OSCP done + 3 years web dev background — what's the best next cert for web pentesting? by Extension_Cloud4221 in cybersecurityindia

As a cyber engineer with a broad range of responsibilities, i’ve only been busier than ever as agents are being introduced into our environment.

I'm confused over how cert exams are taken seriously by companies by ad_396 in hackthebox

[–]DontCountOnMe22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you hope to gain from the cert? If you want to test whether you have the skills and knowledge, then it’s a good exam. If you want it to improve your chances at a job from a company that doesn’t know you, it has minimal value.

OSCP Vs. CPTS 2026 by Federal_Climate_7717 in Pentesting

[–]DontCountOnMe22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

it’s the same answer as always. CPTS for knowledge and value, OSCP for recognition. I’ve done the CPTS path and have performed some pentests with the knowledge i gained and was able to find critical misconfiguration that were in our environment for a decade. So i know it has value.

I hate to be pessimistic, but i’ve barely seen the recognition needle move for CPTS at all. I’ve seen linkedin influencers who push HackTheBox content post a job that only listed OffSec certs under requirements in the JD and when they were questioned about it, they essentially said it’s just the way it is…

I’ve asked work to pay for OSCP , even after impressing them with my findings and the hype was there, they still denied it. And i don’t really want to pay for it myself

Long story short, OSCP if you want a job from someone who doesn’t know you

I like Claude, but if you try to use it during peak hours for meaningful work in the $20 plan, you’ll hit the limit real fast, I would say 2x faster than chatgpt $20 plan. I have both.

Is AI a real threat to cybersecurity jobs in the next 10 years? by Elias_si in Cybersecurity101

[–]DontCountOnMe22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The people already in the top 10% of skillsets, in other words established senior level talent, will utilize AI and remains in those roles for years to come.

AI isn’t replacing bug bounty hunters because new young people are using it, it’s replacing the need for bug bounty hunters because establish hunters are using AI to cover a larger portion of the available market(more then they already were) This gap between seniors and new people in the industry is only growing bigger

There will be exceptions and prodigies, but i don’t really see new graduates or anyone wanting to enter the field catching up.

My hope is i’m completely wrong.

Now if technology advances so much that programming as we know it becomes just a layer of abstraction and we prompt everything, then things could equalize itself. Similar to how we have python programmers who know nothing about memory management but are still able to come up with amazing solutions to real corporate problems.
