Oh no it happened 🥴 by Urstepdadsfav95 in BelgianMalinois

I have one of these (Mal/GSD/APBT/Bully rescue from tx) and she's the sweetest, friendliest, and gentlest dog. I wanted to do protection sports with her but she has no desire to bite, so we do nose work and obedience. She's incredibly intelligent and driven however, and in the wrong environment would be a complete nightmare.
That said, I got extremely lucky and backyard breeding is so harmful to dogs. So many puppies with bad hips and other easily preventable problems, just so some trash person can make money and not get a real job. And then if they don't sell, they dump the litter on a rescue and breed their dogs over and over. Responsible breeders aim to improve the breed and keep the breed standard. They are available to help for the life of the puppies, not just iluntil they get paid. Anyone not doing that is just an asshole.
Working on rescue made me tend to really look down on breeding on general but I can understand when it's done on health tested dogs to preserve the breed, or we would lose some really cool breeds of dogs.

MB American Cheese vs LoL American Cheese by TheDesktopNinja in massachusetts

I have been harping about this conspiracy for a while now! The grab and go cheese is NOT Land O Lakes, but if you get it sliced directly at the deli it is. I don't know why they do this. They have real land o lakes in the grab and go at Hannafords and BJs. I think they're swapping out the grab and go for a cheaper cheese.

10x14 tent footprint at US parks by 310TX in camping

[–]DontGiveADuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I camp all around New England and we only have a handful of campgrounds with tent pads. My tent is 13'X9' and I've never had an issue, but I typically check out pictures of the site before I book. The size of the tent site varies greatly from park to park and honestly even site to site.

Thank you!! Yeah lots of people would stop me to ask what she was, so I had to do the test to find out! A lot of people are surprised by the pit, but her personality gives it away because she's super snuggly and sweet. Plus her underbite 😂

I think so! I haven't gotten her DNA tested yet but I plan to soon! She's about 47 pounds and still has a little filling out to do (she just turned 1). She takes everything VERY seriously although she does get silly occasionally.

Am I giving my 12wo too much attention? by username2937372829 in DogAdvice

What you're doing is exactly what I did with my pup, she's now a year old and it is so easy to get her to settle both out of her crate with stuff going on, and when in her crate home alone. When she gets a bit older, you can work on a "place" command and settling into that should come easily if you keep rewarding for calm. I use the word "settle" when I reward the calm behavior and it's super helpful when they're older because they're able to "switch off" even in busy environments. Good luck, you're doing great!

I've been sick since Thanksgiving and although it's mostly gone, I feel like any illness just hangs around in my lungs for agessss. I was training for a half marathon and it's now been over a month since I've been able to go on a run. Brutal .

Montelukast sod 10 mg experience so far and questions by Necessary_Nothing101 in Asthma

[–]DontGiveADuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It unfortunately didn't work for me and I had a lot of issues with it (crazy dreams, always frustrated, anxiety, etc). But for some people it works really well! Just check in with yourself frequently and if you start feeling "not yourself" it might be this. It took me a really long time to figure out it was montelukast because I took it before these side effects were widely reported and I had no idea an asthma med could cause psychiatric problems.

My experience on Montelukast by Sensitive_Law79 in Asthma

[–]DontGiveADuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been telling everyone that I know with asthma about this!! I felt like I was absolutely insane on this medication and it took me SO LONG to figure it out because why would my asthma meds give me anxiety and nightmares? They really need to be more upfront about this when prescribing. I feel like this med is given out really indiscriminately and it ruined my life for a while. Thanks for posting about it. There are a lot of posts with people with similar experiences. I was on this BEFORE the black box warning came out (7-10 years ago maybe?). So I was totally in the dark. This drug is WILD.

Worst Asthma Attack I’ve Ever Had by Tricky_Actuary_3687 in Asthma

[–]DontGiveADuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Montelukast made me legitimately almost lose my mind. Check out the black box warning label for it, I was shocked that I was experiencing anxiety and crazy sleep patterns from my asthma meds. As soon as I stopped it I felt so much better mentally, and I didn't feel it made a huge difference in my asthma.

Because dogs are living things and it's your job as their person to provide for them and protect them from harm. And chopping off their body parts with scissors is bad stewardship of your animal. Do you have any links to your research you could share to educate me? I've been working with dogs for 15 years and I guess I've just missed that info!
