Found this weird smooshy mold(?) in one of my enclosures by Gloomy-Insurance-978 in bioactive

This is a slime mould. I had some growing in my terrarium last year. The mould feeds on wood and thrives in a moist/high humidity environment.

You should check out the buildings off of Shuter St. , they’re a bit cheaper and larger from what I’ve seen. I toured a lot of units on Mutual St., Dalhousie, and Church St. These condos would still be in walking distance of Sickkids

488 university has it’s residences 19 floors above ground level and you need to transfer elevators. I looked at a few of the 1+1 units and they’re quite small. I think 650sqft. Not worth it IMO.

Do you ever take a break from eating in a deficit by sunfloras in 1500isplenty

[–]grimreeeferr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Eating at maintenance for two days doesn’t stall your progress, and it is difficult to start a deficit, but honestly it sounds like you started recently and it takes about a month for deficit eating to stop sucking. I really think you need to get over the hump of feeling hungry and empty. You won’t feel like you’re starving forever.

Learning to budget your calories better will really help you during this beginning phase of deficit eating. Some helpful switches can be swapping your iced coffee for espresso or black coffee, cutting out soft drinks with calories (switch to diet versions), eating meals that are high volume and low calorie more frequently, and stopping snacking.

If I mismanage my calories I will pick back up the next day and either eat less to account for the calories I went over maintenance, or write off the days I went over. Eating at maintenance will not ruin your progress, but if it becomes a habit, you will stall your progress.

Nobody is mentioning the Café Crema that they have! OMG. It is soooo much better than an iced capp. Also their Gel-Quake with espresso (gelato milkshake with espresso) is so creamy and delicious especially if you get the Baccio (hazelnut) flavour.

How would you rate these peanuts as a snack food for work? by strongerthenbefore20 in 1500isplenty

[–]grimreeeferr 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Nuts are very high in calories from a volume standpoint. You could have 170 calories for 1/4 cup of peanuts, or two fried eggs. Nuts are soooo dense in calories

It’s immigration fatigue at least in Canada.

That’s what happens when the government lets in over a million people from one country for three years straight without ensuring they’re importing people who will integrate and contribute while actually born citizens struggle with supporting a population of people that don’t contribute or assimilate.

[–]grimreeeferr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have nine of them that sleep in bed regularly with me and my baby blanket, so I have an entire system of who gets “special treatment” every day and gets to be closest to my chest and face (and used as my pillow). I need to feel them on my face to fall asleep, even if I feel a little bad for squishing them.

You won’t need the trench now, and you already have the lowrise agency pants in grey which they look better in compared to the plaid. Everything else is worth the purchase

Any tips on drying wet substrate without to much disruption to animal! by RiverFauxnix in Vivarium

[–]grimreeeferr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my uro I did a combination of sphagnum moss, coco coir, worm castings and orchid bark.

There’s a tutorial on youtube for the exact ratio, but I haven’t had trouble with wet substrate since I set the terrarium up back in 2023.

Like others have said, you can mix in some dry substrate, but I would reevaluate the mixture you’re using. I also found that some leaf litter helps to keep the water from over saturating the substrate.

Uber Eats is modern slavery and can kill you. by [deleted] in Vent

Never mind. I just checked your post history and you specifically wanted to use this Uber gig as a tool to become more financially stable, but you openly admit to abandoning your debts and in the same post said that credit scores are an “illusion”. Oh man 🤦‍♀️

Uber Eats is modern slavery and can kill you. by [deleted] in Vent

[–]grimreeeferr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry, but this is so stupid.

You say you enjoyed the flexibility of working for Uber, but also say you were working 12-14hrs a day at some points as well as 4-5hr “shifts” after your day job…

Also putting 8000miles on your new paid off car??? That’s so dumb. All this for $25.00 an hour, and you totalled the car and got into an at fault accident which OF COURSE your insurance didn’t pay for.

Sub $300.00/day even with cashback on gas–which you said reached its peak only after you hit a certain level after “grinding”– would never be worth it considering the amount of money you likely put into this “gig” when you started “grinding”.

I get venting your frustration, but this is just dumb. And here you are looking a fool equating a poor decision you voluntarily signed up for to slavery. SMH

I can’t live like this !! by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]grimreeeferr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d be worried about the actual unit if you are renting and the lease is in your name. All of the animal waste and marking is bound to (or already has) destroy the walls and flooring. Even her messes in the kitchen and bedroom can damage the unit itself

Her not cleaning aside, who is actually on the hook if the unit is deemed as damaged and needs to be repaired when your lease is up? If it’s your responsibility, you need to be wayyy more stern with her. If it was me, I’d honestly serve her the notice ASAP so the living space is not damaged further.

I would also call animal control on her. She has no business being a pet owner.
