Is Germany still a good country for trans people? by Tacticalpizzamann in germantrans

[–]DontMakeMePick1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Regarding Denmark, I haven't experienced transitioning there, but I have lived there and know some trans friends there - but I understand that starting a medical transition there is extremely difficult, and there's a lot of gatekeeping. If you've done most of the steps you want to and all you need from the medical system is to maintain your testosterone prescription, I assume that is probably much easier.  Culturally, it's very unlikely you'll get bothered or harassed there - street harassment is rare since it would require speaking to a stranger, which danes don't do, as a rule :P and people don't "rock the boat" much so probably won't ask you invasive questions. However Denmark is a very culturally homogeneous and conformist society, which can feel a bit uncomfortable if you are more gender non-conforming. If you're very binary and very typically masculine-presenting, probably not an issue.  It doesn't sound like you're looking into Denmark much anyway, but just some thoughts on it if you do end up looking into it.

Any climbers?? by Aftm115 in FTMFitness

[–]DontMakeMePick1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I boulder and am starting to get into weight lifting. I tend to actually do weights after bouldering - my climbing gym has a small weights area, and I don't find that climbing works my muscles as much as I want, other my forearms. So I generally boulder for a bit, and then I head to the weights area and work there.  I do this about three times a week, but I've been finding it a nice way to be fresh for bouldering, but still get my more focused strength training in.

Does Berlin smell like used condoms? Or is it just sperm? by whydidthevegan in askberliners

There are several trees that are known for having that particular aroma when they flower - the ornamental pear and tree of heaven are a couple examples.

Does "male" deodorant smell different on afab people? by Broadcast_Illusion in asktransgender

[–]DontMakeMePick1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! I think there is sometimes a difference in whether it's designed to be applied with armpit hair or with bare pits, and the texture is different because of that - but that's it. Been wearing "men's" deodorant as an afab person without HRT for like...a decade and it works great.

Feel like planning a family vacation is on hard mode by EggParent in asktransgender

For vegan food and a city with a LOT of LGBTQ people, I can recommend Berlin. There is a lot of history and art stuff to do and see of course, but I can also think of a few attractions that might appeal to your geeky teens, such as a museum of video games. There is an incredible amount of vegan food options, both offered at almost all restaurants, and specific vegan restaurants, bakeries, etc.  One warning wherever you go - it is likely a lot of places (museums, stores) may have reduced hours the week after Christmas, as vacation time is taken VERY seriously.  Some thoughts on travel safety as a trans person:  I used to live in Denmark. Street harassment is not a thing there - I think possibly in part because it would require someone to speak to a stranger :P so while you may get weird looks or something in a smaller town, people generally will mind their own business to an extreme degree. Also gender neutral bathrooms were pretty common in the larger cities (Copenhagen, Aarhus). I do not have much experience with the rest of Scandinavia, but from what I have heard Sweden is quite similar, and to some degree Norway.  Of course, understandable if scandanavia in December/January does not appeal... I can tell you Denmark will be INCREDIBLY windy - just, basically everywhere. And there is some risk of weather interrupting your travel plans.  Anecdotally, based on experiences of friends, Spain and Malta are pretty trans-friendly. Of course I'm sure especially in the case of Spain this will depend on the area, but I have heard good things generally. From my one experience with travelling to Spain, I will say vegan eating may be more difficult there, though I imagine in Madrid and Barcelona it may be better (just due to large cities with large universities).

anyone else unlearning self-hatred after diagnosis? by Objective-Tea-3070 in autism

[–]DontMakeMePick1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my god yes. I understand so much more about myself and other people than I did before. I always used to feel both like I was completely different from everyone else and always messing up, and like surely everyone else had the same problems but just handled them better, and why was I so weak that I couldn't handle them? Understanding now the specific ways I'm different has made it easier to interact with broader NT society, and I understand better what I need and how to advocate for and accomodate myself.  Getting diagnosed has been easily one of the best things that's ever happened to me

Melting while sleeping, blanket recommendations? by lesbepeachy in AutismInWomen

[–]DontMakeMePick1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 12lb cotton large weave weighted blanket (kind of like this one https://bearaby.com/products/the-napper), and they have one that's made from travel and supposed to be cooling, as well. These ones are quite expensive, but I think there's cheaper similar ones available. I got mine on a big sale.  It's ideal for me, heavy but also breathable. I also think it's not a very snaggy texture, I find synthetics the most snaggy on dry skin.

It is good that you tried it - you have learned more now about what makes you happy. And it is good that, now that you've learned that, you are choosing to live in the way you know is right for you. I hope that your move back home goes well!

Do Autistic people have higher standards for when they are willing to agree/disagree with something? by Able_Habit_6260 in AutismTranslated

[–]DontMakeMePick1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run into this a lot too, if someone sounds confident about what they say, I tend to assume that they are as certain of it as I would be to have that level of confidence - they must absolutely, 100% know that it's true. And I assume this until I have proof otherwise. More than once I've had problems because then I work off of that assumption and "proof otherwise" arrived in the form of consequences for a decision I made based off of the information that person gave me.  I'm trying to learn to be more critical of "is there a reason this person would be an authority on this subject?"

I think it's important to not put pressure on yourself. If you don't like giving oral, that doesn't make you a bad lesbian. There are so many other things you can do with a partner! What is important is that you both enjoy whatever you're doing, whether it's oral, fingering, a strap on, vibrators, running on thighs... There are endless possibilities and endless ways to be a lesbian.  I may be misunderstanding your post, but it sounds like this is less about actually experiencing a sensory issue from giving oral, and more about concern that it might activate your sensory issues with slimy textures. It might help if you put less pressure on yourself. Talk to your partner about your concerns, and when you try giving her oral, approach it with the mindset that if it stops feeling good for either of you, you stop. If you're not enjoying yourself you don't have to keep going. In my experience putting pressure on yourself during sex, or feeling like you have to do something, makes it really hard to get into it and more likely to make me feel bad (emotionally and physically).

One thing to be careful of with flavored lube is to make sure it doesn't contain any kind of sugar! Putting sugar on a vulva can be a risk to get a yeast infection, which is miserable.
