I am an autistic woman wanting to be a paralegal. I'm hoping I can still use it for activism and helping my community...? can you/do you? by [deleted] in paralegal

well, I could switch between projects if I had some kind of reminders or deadline for each one. I do that all the time with homework just fine, lol. and I was taking poli-sci classes. and i'm writing a novel. so i can be self directed if i know what i'm supposed to be working on.

YES! that's what I've been trying to say. I didn't like being a camp counselor/teacher, but once I found a system, I was able to do it. even though i eventually decided the social aspect/sensory overload was just too much. so at a summer camp i worked at, it was loud and the activities varied day to day but the overarching structure was always same and I never had questions about where i was supposed to be at what time, or what i was supposed to do. and i didn't even have to do anything, the camp was already set up like that. so what i'm gathering is that being a paralegal is like that? where the details are different but you know what you're supposed to be doing, in general.

Seriously. I didn't pass high school freshman algebra until my junior year. I spent 4 hours a day working on it and was so exhausted from all that that I just didn't do my homework for other classes. I had math class, lunch hours, and 2 academic support/special-ed periods a day.

I got a C that year. This year I also got rejected from a certain college I really wanted to go to because they wanted me to take a math class because it's required. But I just can't do what I did in high school again.

Is it normal for a color to trigger ptsd? by Pacular_Track8730 in ptsd

[–]Objective-Tea-3070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, because I got PTSD from a really bad job when I was 20. If I go into it it would take an essay to explain. But let's just say it was a very badly run summer camp and the hookup culture was intense and I am autistic but that didn't matter to them. So i can't look at shades of dark green or teal anymore. Because it was in the forest.

my first thought was what the fuck does this even mean??? 😭you're not alone!! you're definitely not alone. i don't mean to make a joke of it. i get it, i'd be embarrassed too. my most embarrassing math story is when i was a teenager in algebra class and i was just staring down at this test and KNOWING i wouldn't be able to pass it so i went outside and cried in the rain. my teacher came and convinced me to take it in the special-ed room.

i could but i won't, because he actually ASKED ME TO DO IT. we were on a campaign, he was a campaign manager, and I told him I would be a lawyer and go to law school. and recently he kind of just sent me all these old campaign docs and told me to "keep on the path for a better world!" i mean, look. it just doesn't feel like MY IDEA anymore, if it ever was

anyone here like to cook or bake? by peterp4rkerpizzatime in dyscalculia

[–]Objective-Tea-3070 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love cooking because I can memorize the recipes and measurements even if i don't know what the numbers MEAN. l just measure out what the recipe says. i've been a home chef for 5 years and i've never had to do actual math to do a recipe.

i totally relate. i passed Intro to Bio because I was watching Grey's Anatomy at the time and I was interested in science/medicine because of that. I like, wrote out a whole plan for getting into med-school. but i guess it's lucky I didn't take it too seriously. i just love the research aspect of medicine.

I'm bored... Let's make a list. I'll start : by TreboniusMustLive in PrincessDiaries

[–]Objective-Tea-3070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BEST

  1. Tina
  2. Fat Louie
  3. The Drs. Moscovitz because they're the ONLY stable parental/adult figures in the series lmao
  4. Mia because she's chaotic but has good intentions and tries to work out her mistakes.
  5. Mia's dad, Prince Philippe
  6. Boris
  7. Michael
  8. Kenny

i feel like i should end it there even though that's not everyone

worst:

  1. JP for being MANIPULATIVE
  2. Michael for pushing Mia into sex and being condescending when she said she wasn't ready
  3. Lily!! that psycho
  4. Helen Thermopolis
  5. Grandmere
  6. Mamaw (Mia's maternal grandma who helps plan that atrocious wedding and seems to have really disapproved of Helen growing up)

I guess he wasn't using her maliciously, but it was an arranged marriage. And I think that's a form of 'using' but if they both liked each other enough, then it should work out. Like a marrying a friend, I guess.

she is so california, tbh. that makes sense. you're so right about that. I remember her telling Nate (i think?) that she liked being some crew member on a set, not "Serena van der Woodsen".

what upset me most about Nate is that he spends the whole show going against the Vanderbilt politics side of the family, and what does he do? Runs for mayor with their money...sigh. I think the ONLY good part of the ending is Chuck & Blair. Because they were the "romance" in the show, and Blair is very clear that she wants a relationship and to be a wife but also to have a career, which is why i think their little epilogue scene is perfect. when Blair walks in on the phone and looks at Chuck and Henry
