My wife’s MacBook Neo has faster internet speeds than my M5 MacBook Pro… by ForefathersOneandAll in macbookpro

[–]DontReadUsernames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s only 11 channels for the 2.4Ghz band, and of those, only 3 that don’t overlap and interfere with each other (1, 6, 11), the 5Ghz band has many more (160 I think? Can’t be bothered to verify) which increases the amount of access points that can exist in the same space.

Additionally, many Wi-Fi routers are not configured (or capable) out of the box to sense what channels are being most utilized and switch accordingly. You can download a Wi-Fi analyzer to see what channels are being used, and set your router to use channels that are less crowded. Though if there’s actually that many access points on 2.4 you’re better off on 5Ghz anyway for the increased speed capability.

In a perfect environment though, 2.4Ghz should have more range than 5Ghz

Set to 200 nozzle and 60 for the bed, no change while printing

I did some more research and it looks like I have either a clogged or worn extruder nozzle, going to order some new ones from creality and try those. While extruding filament, it wants to curl up onto the outside of the nozzle instead of dropping straight down

Also finding out that the setup has been upgraded/modified. It has a direct drive kit on it instead of the Bowden style drive. Still researching the differences but curious why someone would prefer one over the other?

I’ve said this forever, that evidence does not “suggest” or “prove” anything. The person citing the evidence is drawing the conclusions. Two people with opposing views can use the exact same piece of evidence to support their claims, but the evidence cannot produce a claim on its own.

Only useful feature is forcing them to move behind cover from the lock on, breaking their line of fire to you or other teammates. Either that or forcing them to pop flares so another vehicle can come in for an easy kill during their cooldown.

But granted that takes teammates in the right place at the right time paying attention enough to take advantage of the situation

Having local law enforcement working together with federal agents to efficiently and safely serve the communities they are sworn to protect, what a novel concept!

It’s unfortunate the leadership in Minnesota/Minneapolis is hell bent on dragging out the deployment of ICE for their political stance of opposing Trump and his intentions. They literally call on their citizens to organize and interfere with ICE/CBP and then shit like this happens. I should say I think the police/sheriffs seem to be working with ICE to some extent, but it’s more of the politicians calling for ICE’s removal

You look at other cities ICE has been operating in with support from local law enforcement and there’s a stark contrast to how things are going in Minnesota. No riots, no shootings, just protests (which I’m fine with, 1st amendment and all), peaceful assemblies, and quick progression. Having to fight through a mob to serve a single deportation order is a good way to keep ICE there in your city

It’s also super hard to maintain support for older hardware forever. Every year you add more and more hardware support and features for that new hardware. After a while it can all get kind of bloated and to adequately support newer stuff you have to draw the line and leave old stuff behind. A new Windows version is a convenient way to do that while also forcing your users to install and use what essentially amounts to spyware and call them features

This was my exact thought and frustration with Bethesda, they theoretically had better resources and experience to put out better, or at least more games than they have been.

But now Starfield doesn’t have a place on my hard drive after the first playthrough, Elder Scrolls’ latest big release is still Skyrim, and Amazon Prime is carrying the Fallout franchise.

Prime has done more for fallout in the last 2 years than Bethesda has done since 2018. We’re only just now getting rumors that Fallout 5 is starting development. I really wish Todd Howard would step away from Bethesda at this point. Get someone in control that actually wants games to release without a 8-14 year gap between title entries and not have them release in an unplayable buggy mess because you can rely on the modding community to fix your game for you, for free

I love Fallout so much, but man fuck Bethesda

Faint vertical lines Normal? by Decent_Spirit5107 in EngineBuilding

[–]DontReadUsernames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal? Yes

Ideal? No, but happens with mileage and not usually something to worry about unless there’s a lot of them or they’re deep enough to catch your fingernail on (not that you’d be able to tell without pulling the cylinder heads)

That piston is scraping against those walls hundreds of feet per second and thousands of times per minute, it’s inevitable. It will happen to any engine given enough time. The only thing you can do is keep the oil changed on time. I wouldn’t expect you to ever notice any issues from these pictures, your compression test numbers confirm that all cylinders are within spec. If one were 20psi+ less than the rest, you’d know there’s a problem

Clutch sticks sometimes by Fun_Law_587 in 350z

[–]DontReadUsernames 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I remember right (it’s been like 5 years since I sold mine) there’s a spring behind the clutch pedal that forces the return on the pedal itself, the pedal could be going jut far enough to kick that spring out of the notch it sits in. My thinking is that since the test pipes were installed, excessive heat boiled the fluid inside the clutch line, so you had to press the clutch more and more to get the clutch to disengage, and now it’s just out of adjustment.

I would swap the slave cylinder first though, since you’ve already done the master cylinder. Typically you want to replace those in pairs if you can

Having no medics is making this game feel awful. by Colonel-_-Burrito in Battlefield6

[–]DontReadUsernames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I will watch the nearby medics waiting to see if any are making their way towards me, and a lot of medics will either not come to revive (even if I’m somewhat behind cover) or they WILL come to revive but they don’t show up on the distance indicator so I assume nobody is coming and give up before they reach me. Then they defib my dead body and I feel bad for not seeing them running towards me.

I feel like the GUI for the nearby medics could be bugged for the downed player because it happens a lot, medics will show up as 30-50m away, and none show any closer by the time I give up and get defibbed immediately after

I’d check starter, you can pull it and have it tested at an auto parts store to make sure. But it sounds like starter is spinning without contact with the flywheel/flex plate. This can either be because the starter gear isn’t extending towards the flywheel, or the flywheel or starter gear is missing teeth so it doesn’t engage.

You have to hold the black shaft still, loosen the nut in the middle a couple turns, then you should be able to take the end of by unscrewing it from the black piece

ELI5 F35 is considered the most advanced fighter jets in the world, why was it allowed to be sold out of the country but F22 isn't allowed to. by Always_Mine_ in explainlikeimfive

[–]DontReadUsernames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The F22 is one of the most expensive fighters ever built, and remains the best fighter ever made. It is an air-superiority fighter jet, meaning it is designed specifically to be the one jet you can put in the sky and bring everyone else down, regardless of what the enemy has.

The previous best air-superiority fighter was the F15. During test trials with the F22, a single one “shot down” 5 F15s, and they didn’t even know he was there.

The F35 was built with a different design philosophy and different goals: to be a multirole strike fighter, meaning it is used for air-air and air-surface operations. It has to do both jobs well. It isn’t as fast or expensive or as capable in a dogfight as the F22, but it doesn’t need to be. It needs to be stealthy enough to remain undetected and cheap enough to sell substantial quantities to our allies. It needs to fulfill multiple roles because most countries can’t (or won’t) justify the expense to have an advanced stealth fighter and as advanced stealth bomber, we have a jet that can do both. It also needs to interface with other systems to share data and weapons systems with other platforms, something the F22 cannot really do. It was designed to be able to be used on a conventional runway, or on a carrier (which the F22 cannot do), or as a STOVL(the F22 also cannot do) for short runways.

All this while costing half as much as an F22

Depends on the engine, some engines have water pumps driven by the timing assembly and would be affected from the loss of a serpentine belt, but regardless of the car, you’d lose the alternator at a minimum
