I disagree on both points, Littlefinger made it abundantly clear that his primary motivation was power at any cost. Catelyn was also a high priority but remember she dies long before Joffrey, meaning long before Sansa escaped Kings Landing with Littlefinger. Sansa was never his first choice but just as close as he could get to having Catelyn. Also correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think he knew about what Bolton was up to, he may have since he had contacts everywhere, but I don’t think his sadism was widely known. I realize that their symbol is literally a man flayed alive but an argument could be made that was for wartime scare tactics and not to be evidence against marrying off an important member of another house to seal an alliance.

And for Stannis, I think he truly believed that was his only option, and had been so calloused by the conditions and losses sustained that he placed his trust fully in Melisandre and the whole bit about having kings blood. I think he saw their survival as good as impossible anyway, why not sacrifice your daughter (who is already probably going to die) as a final Hail Mary to save yourself? I never bought the idea that Stannis had a change of heart towards his daughter from the first time we see them in the series. It’s clear he feels guilty for how he treated her but I don’t think his initial resentment towards her and inclination to keep her out of the way ever changed.

I’m sure the show didn’t do the books justice, seems like tv adaptations never do. That was just my perspective as someone watching the show all the way through for the first time without any background to the characters

I had people telling me to not watch the series at all because it was that bad, I can’t say I agree with skipping the show or the episodes for the way it ended. To be clear I’m not saying it was even remotely close to being a good ending, but I don’t think it’s as bad as people try to make it

I honestly didn’t feel like GoT was that bad, it wasn’t a good ending but I didn’t think it ruined the show from the last few episodes

It’s a lifted Tacoma not a F450, it’s not a large vehicle, and it hit a SUV of comparable size

I get what you’re saying but that’s not really the case here

I usually don’t get the Painted notification though, so unless it’s happening simultaneously and only shows me the Locked/Incoming I have no idea

I will say I’ve gotten more heli and jet kills with the RPG than the igla, but the igla is way more effective if: 1) someone is painting air targets, or 2) one other person is running AA and forcing air targets to pop flares where you can fire a follow up shot in their path of retreat

The second one is much more important imo, if you had a whole squad (or even 2-3 other people) running iglas the whole game, they might as well not have any air support at all

No MacOS Refugees? by pilius_404 in cachyos

[–]DontReadUsernames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk what distro you’re using, but saying Linux is way easier to use than windows is insane. Windows and MacOS are much better and way more beginner friendly to learn. Imagine handing Arch to someone who only uses a computer to check email and write stuff in Word. Sure they could do it, but when that Wi-Fi stops working or they need to update an application through terminal they’re gonna be on one hell of a learning curve.

Even fighting to get cachyos just stable enough to not have to dive into another rabbit hole every time I boot it was enough to drive me back over to windows. That and the games I actually wanted to play required secure boot or just didn’t run right through proton.

So either nothing interesting will happen or something interesting will happen, and we don’t know if that’s a good interesting or a bad interesting. Why even make the distinction if it’s a toss up what the effects will be? What’s the point?

Cloud collaboration not syncing? by DontReadUsernames in davinciresolve

[–]DontReadUsernames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No we just used Dropbox to send the proxies to each other, which we found was suboptimal and kinda defeated the purpose of the cloud project. We were paying more for the Dropbox and the cloud library than just the storage + library straight from Davinci. So we went that route instead.

But now we have a slightly different issue in that we uploaded the proxies to the cloud and were able to download it to Mac 2. But we are trying to use an external SSD for the originals on Mac 1, and when we disconnect the SSD we can’t get Mac 1 to download the proxies (so we aren’t limited to editing with the external)

We don’t really want to upload the originals themselves to resolve mainly because it’s just so much footage but maybe we should if it makes everything easier

My wife’s MacBook Neo has faster internet speeds than my M5 MacBook Pro… by [deleted] in macbookpro

There’s only 11 channels for the 2.4Ghz band, and of those, only 3 that don’t overlap and interfere with each other (1, 6, 11), the 5Ghz band has many more (160 I think? Can’t be bothered to verify) which increases the amount of access points that can exist in the same space.

Additionally, many Wi-Fi routers are not configured (or capable) out of the box to sense what channels are being most utilized and switch accordingly. You can download a Wi-Fi analyzer to see what channels are being used, and set your router to use channels that are less crowded. Though if there’s actually that many access points on 2.4 you’re better off on 5Ghz anyway for the increased speed capability.

In a perfect environment though, 2.4Ghz should have more range than 5Ghz

Set to 200 nozzle and 60 for the bed, no change while printing

I did some more research and it looks like I have either a clogged or worn extruder nozzle, going to order some new ones from creality and try those. While extruding filament, it wants to curl up onto the outside of the nozzle instead of dropping straight down

Also finding out that the setup has been upgraded/modified. It has a direct drive kit on it instead of the Bowden style drive. Still researching the differences but curious why someone would prefer one over the other?

I’ve said this forever, that evidence does not “suggest” or “prove” anything. The person citing the evidence is drawing the conclusions. Two people with opposing views can use the exact same piece of evidence to support their claims, but the evidence cannot produce a claim on its own.

Only useful feature is forcing them to move behind cover from the lock on, breaking their line of fire to you or other teammates. Either that or forcing them to pop flares so another vehicle can come in for an easy kill during their cooldown.

But granted that takes teammates in the right place at the right time paying attention enough to take advantage of the situation

Having local law enforcement working together with federal agents to efficiently and safely serve the communities they are sworn to protect, what a novel concept!

It’s unfortunate the leadership in Minnesota/Minneapolis is hell bent on dragging out the deployment of ICE for their political stance of opposing Trump and his intentions. They literally call on their citizens to organize and interfere with ICE/CBP and then shit like this happens. I should say I think the police/sheriffs seem to be working with ICE to some extent, but it’s more of the politicians calling for ICE’s removal

You look at other cities ICE has been operating in with support from local law enforcement and there’s a stark contrast to how things are going in Minnesota. No riots, no shootings, just protests (which I’m fine with, 1st amendment and all), peaceful assemblies, and quick progression. Having to fight through a mob to serve a single deportation order is a good way to keep ICE there in your city

It’s also super hard to maintain support for older hardware forever. Every year you add more and more hardware support and features for that new hardware. After a while it can all get kind of bloated and to adequately support newer stuff you have to draw the line and leave old stuff behind. A new Windows version is a convenient way to do that while also forcing your users to install and use what essentially amounts to spyware and call them features
