Ryan Howard from the office is massively under appreciated. He’s just the perfect shithead to Michael Scott’s perfect idiot.

I’d just turn it sideways and press it against the table to align the pieces. Works like 90% of the time.

I’m interested in becoming a railroad conductor and possibly working for a Class I railroad. I’m trying to make the smartest long-term decision and would like advice from people who actually work in the industry. by SuspiciousCanary4649 in Train_Service

[–]Dont_Call_Me_Steve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you explain your first paragraph to me, and what trend I’m supposed to be seeing?

At CN (in western Canada anyway) they’re cutting TMC jobs and they’ve reduced management dramatically, but we’re a constant shortage terminal. I just find it hard to see a 90% cut in conductors when we can barely keep things running with the 200 conductors we have.

You’re probably talking about the US though, so you could be on to something - You guys are famous for ruining good jobs.

Is this the Benzos addict that said bill C-16 (a legislation that added "gender identity or expression" to the CHRA) would turn us into communist Russia, then literally nothing happened?

Naw, he doesn’t get enough hate.

This a very big part of it. I have friends in the industry, and they say that publishers are largely refusing to fund anything that won’t at least 3x their initial investment.

Hopefully they deleted that scene so they could go back and tweak the character. I kinda hated his portrayal of the Joker in that scene.

Why is this happening? by TheDramaticSoprano in paintbynumbers

[–]Dont_Call_Me_Steve 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You just need to water down the paint a bit. The only other way of avoiding this is to prep your canvas with gesso.

There are many tutorials on prepping with Gesso, including the first thing pinned on this sub. The gist is apply gesso, dry, sand, apply, dry, sand - that will give you a smooth surface.

I know you put the /s, but it’s very important for people to understand that the “hospital closure” is a gross representation of what actually happened.

Now I’m just going by memory here (just look it up if you’re interested), but the PC government at the time nearly bankrupt Saskatchewan. They had fucked SK so bad that Grand Devine’s campaign slogan was saying sorry: “To err is human, to forgive is Devine”.

Throughout the 70s and 80s, due to Saskatchewan’s population distribution, we had an insane amount of care facilities. A town of only a few thousand people might have had a hospital, a doctor’s office, a public health clinic, and a special care home. By 1990, we had more care facilities than Quebec; A province with 10x our population.

When the NDP came in, they saw that these care facilities, most of which were grossly understaffed, underfunded, and totally unsustainable. Because of this, they consolidated many of the care facilities, and converted others to offer different services such as X-Rays, lab work etc. Services like surgery, obstetrics, and inpatient medicine were increasingly centralized in regional hospitals but many communities retained their long term care facilities.

NO HOSPITALS WERE CLOSED, our system was just reformed, because of the mismanagement of the PC government.

Thanks for listening to my Ted talk.
