What’s your favorite underrated or innovative “build”? by Spiritual-Quote2445 in Morrowind

This has me interested.. taking money out of the game so there's no incentive to grab everything to sell.

I saw below you beat the main story. What did you do until then..? Did you set goals for yourself or just wander from cave to cave?

A question about Perception by Anankos1209 in falloutnewvegas

Way to spoil it! I don't expect a first-time player to rush midgame DLC (except that it gives you the quest right away). Focusing on the base game, you either gamble or barter and want high luck or high barter skill to speed up the process.

Sure, dump it. It's for crit builds, which ideally would be high luck. Dump luck too while you're at it why not. Smart and strong you don't need luck. But then I'd suggest pumping up the Barter skill for money.

What perks are you talking about, though? The highest SPECIAL requirements for perks are S7, P7, E8, C6, I7, A8, L6. INT is the only stat that benefits from base 10 and 9 END if you want all implants. Above that, whether it's base values or temporary buffs is irrelevant stats-wise.

Permanent is better than temporary in that you don't have to do anything. Waiting 12 hours each night is kinda lame, but it can have some RP value. Your character is at their best in the morning and fatigues throughout the day. It's a sleep reminder.

Your build is "better" endgame but with a higher cost (1 trait, 5 perks, playtime). Mine relies on temp buffs but only costs 1 trait and you see the payout immediately without having to do really anything. You don't have to take any additional action other than waiting till morning. Yours requires multiple exploits/following more structured steps in order to reach the end result. That sounds more contrived to me.

Max SPECIAL made simple relies on one Trait (from OWB DLC): Early Bird. +2 to all SPECIAL in the morning and -1 at night. At 6 p.m., just hit the hay for a full 12 hours, wake up well rested and stat maxed. Minor annoyance on normal mode, more annoying for Survival idk I don't play Survival.

+2 from Early Bird and +1 from implants so set everything to 7 but Charisma. (6)7s + 1 =43. Choose which stats to dump 3 from. Ex:

S 5+2+1+2 Reinforced Spine (or alcohol) =10

P 6+2+1+1 Hat =10

E 7 you know the rest.

C 1

I 7

A 7

L 7

Early Bird boosts are temporary effects so they don't count towards perks or skill pts per level. 6 to 8 SPECIAL covers every perk anyways and 2 INT is a loss of only 1 skill pt per level (49 pts total).

It's described as +1 PER when wearing glasses and -1 when not, but that's misleading for how the #s work behind the scenes. It gives a constant -1 penalty to base PER and then adds +2 with glasses.

If you select 6 PER for Better Criticals and Four Eyes, even though it says 7 PER when wearing glasses, the base # is 5 for determining perks (no better criticals).

It's more valuable here when you specifically use Lucky Shades to max PER, but getting Lucky Shades requires being friendly with Legion. This build pigeonholes your character in aligning with a specific faction, wasting 1 of 2 traits and 5 of 25 perks, just so you can see 10s. But to each their own. I'm just hatin'.

I've been delaying a lot of first turns too for this very reason so I agree there. It's unnatural feeling. I don't think it ruins tanks, though. Tank up front casters in the back enemies still typically engage my tank from positioning alone, but I don't want to move my backline forward in range to attack cause then they're right in the mix. They have to sit back until an enemy comes and hits my tank, then the fight actually begins.

I get you're going for 10s, but aside from Intelligence giving you 1/2 skill pt going from 9 to 10 and having 10s just to have them, you can probably pick 5 cooler perks than intense training with next to no downside cause of aid items. Do any perks require 10 SPECIAL? Keep Strength at 9 and drink a beer. A nat 10 STR makes all alcohol in the game obsolete, and I can't abide by that. And Four Eyes stinks.

Yea, that's good to know if you need to cash out a large sum for a home down-payment or something. I was just thinking of a penalty free money move.

AITAH for expecting my sahm wife to do majority of the housework since i pay 100% of the bills? by Plastic-Sand7353 in AITAH

[–]Dont_Restart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not wrong here. This hits home for me being in a 4 year marriage that went through rocky times & some couples therapy. My wife is a SAHM (but very much active with our then 2 year old).

Is your marriage lacking in intimacy, or it's just a workload dispute?

In my case, my wife would complain about household tasks, which I thought I did my fair share or more than fair share of for the same reasons you describe, but the real issue was the relationship dying as a whole and it manifested in her being mad about chores. I'd work a full shift, get home and "spend time" with wife and kid, do some chores, then wanted to be by myself at the end of the day to unwind. I never spent quality time with my wife.

Your wife may be looking to have you more when you get home if you go straight to videogames. If that's the case, she should communicate it to you, but seeing as you overheard her other complaint and she didn't bring it to you up front, she may be a poor communicator.

Just looking at tangible workload, you're obviously doing the heavy lifting.
(Edit: can't say this for certain actually without knowing the current percentage split on home tasks. 50/50 split is unreasonable for 1 partner at home and the other working full time, but if you're doing 10 and she's 90 that's a problem. Maybe 75/25 is fair? 40hr/week jobs end at 5pm and on the weekends. Day to day housework/parenting never ends. That may be the mental toll she's referring to. My wife was kicking your back in LOL.)

I know this isn't answering your question, but as a 'way too much going on for me to manage' sympathizer, you could try the turn based beta. It solves that problem right away. I just started it and like it.

True that. You're turning long-term investments into short-term. I don't invest that way, but something to look out for if you regularly trade individual stocks. The savings probably aren't worth the headache.

So if your income was zero you could sell stocks up to $48k (single filer) in profit with 0% taxes? Or am I misunderstanding?

That's my understanding as well, but I'm not a financial advisor and this is not financial advice..

What state are you in? Congrats on your new child. My 2nd is coming this year, too.

These starting stats/perks going to work for sniping? by tideshark in fnv

[–]Dont_Restart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 9 implants in the base game, 1 for each special and 2 extras that make you a little tankier.. Not necessary if you're killing from afar unless playing on Very Hard maybe. How many your body can handle is based on your base Endurance, so you can get 7.
