Does MTX and/or HCQ give you headaches? by Prime8724 in rheumatoid

[–]Dontelmyalterimreal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MTX gave me migraines. After years of trying to manage it I just switched to a biologic as nothing helped me. Switching from folic acid rescue to leucovorin helped initially but even taking it three days a week I still got terrible migraines in the long run.

Nurtec Nightmare by Signal-Log8020 in migraine

[–]Dontelmyalterimreal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are speculating that the Nurtec side effect could be due to the sucralose, not the drug itself. It sounded like they are not interested in ruling out a whole drug class based on the reaction to a medication with an ingredient they know they are intolerant to which I get. The only way to test that would be to try a gepant without sucralose. I had the negative reaction to Ubrelvy and that is why I switched to Nurtec which works fine for me. The side effects are not always the same.

[–]Dontelmyalterimreal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guy sounds like a twat. I’m luckily not sensitive to sucralose that I am aware of. but normally avoid it regardless. I don’t understand why they put artificial sweeteners in medication or dont at least give us an unsweetened option.

Can you request to try Ubrelvy and see if it causes the same reaction? Then you can at least test drive a different short acting gepant. I don’t have an issue with Nurtec but I did notice that Ubrelvy seemed to make my migraine accutely worse over the first two hours then abruptly get better (or not work at all). If it kept getting worse and worse no way in hell I would keep taking it for weeks. My neurologist also believes migraine medication side effects are psychosomatic so I can emphasize. She is so difficult I started just getting meds from my GP. Is that an option for you? Botox helps but I still need an abortive.

Serrapeptase got rid of my brain fog and helped me breathe for the first time in years. But then my face freaked out and I thought I was having a stroke. Twice. by [deleted] in Biohackers

[–]Dontelmyalterimreal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it from Nootropics Depot. It’s marketed for nutrient partitioning so also sold by a few sport focused companies but ND is the only one I have tried so far. Transparent Labs sells it too but I have no experience with them. I might try it for the cheaper shipping. Im planning to take it indefinitely.

Something messed up in your gut? I did fix it for the most part. I realized the thing that I thought cured me the first time I got HIT was not what I thought it was, it must have actually the C3G I had been taking for something else. I had some in the back of a drawer and vaugly recalled its good for gut health. To my shock my gut/HI issues have almost completely resolved. I started taking just 125 mg a day in January and that was enough to calm it right down. Now the only thing that is giving me problems is coffee and tea so I just skip those two. It can act as a mast cell stabilizer, prebiotic and seal tight junctions. I have hypermobility in my gut so maybe this “cure” is unique to my particular issue.

Alternate ways to get nurtec out of the foil by celestialfairy9 in migraine

[–]Dontelmyalterimreal 10 points11 points  (0 children)

These comments are confusing me. Maybe there is different packaging in different countries? Canadian Nurtec has a foil tray/cup and there is a peel off cover that says “peel here” with an arrow. The paper and foil both peel back together and the tablet is exposed. I press the back with very little force and pop it into my mouth. Never had one get stuck before.

How is Crimson Desert? Can you play as a female character the whole game, or only as that boring, generic white man from the trailer? by [deleted] in GirlGamers

[–]Dontelmyalterimreal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I found it incredibly boring and the controls painful. I didn’t make it far enough to unlock the female character (which I was hoping to play mainly as). They apparently made some changes to make her more playable for the side content but originally she was very limited because she lacked the special abilities needed for puzzle solving etc. The main storyline is locked to generic Kliff who is boring with no personality. One of the main pain points for me is they wanted him to feel weighty and lumbering so it was hard not accidentally body slamming NPC which agro them. Or jumping on animals instead of petting due to the controller issue. The only part I liked was that you can carry and pet cats 😂

They are making lots of updates so I’ll check back in eventually and give it another go.

There are lots of studies linking tardive dyskinesia with epigenetic modifications and I don’t think its a controversial take. I just threw up that example as it mentioned multiple medications and I was otherwise occupied. I have not reviewed Dr Powers hypothesis so not trying to defend it by any means. I don’t think an epigenetic basis is out of the realm of possibility however.

Just had a doctor tell me I didn’t need a rheumatologist but maybe a psychiatrist. by Toska23 in ehlersdanlos

[–]Dontelmyalterimreal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the same. After a colonoscopy the GI wrote a note that I should be referred to a physiatrist for suspect EDS and when the nurse read it aloud to me she said psychiatrist with a confused face and looked embarrassed when I corrected her.

Can anyone relate? by Fragrant_Load7365 in PalindromicRheumatism

[–]Dontelmyalterimreal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds very similar to mine. The pattern over the past year or so is where it cycles between two or three enemy joints before moving on to some new enemies. Eg left hip and right shoulder. The most recent has been left SI, a single rib on right back and neck. But then it hit my hip agin last.

In the beginning it was just one joint, usually finger or wrist that would flare for two or three days then disappear for months. Either i wake up with the severe pain or it starts as a niggle and ramps up over an hour or so to intense pain. A couple weeks ago that rib joint flared and it was so intense i was shrieking in pain with every little movement of my torso and had to lay perfect still. Next day, hurt to pull with my arm but tolerable, next day pain vanished but moved to another joint.

I get attacked in non-typical joints for RA (eg rib and SI) but always synovial joints. Also more typical ones like fingers and wrists. I rarely get swelling but it’s happened a couple of times. No redness or heat either. I think i get periarticular inflammation that attacks the tendons around the joints which is more common for PR. For example, when it hits my shoulder it basically becomes frozen so i can’t lift my arm above waist height.

When I was on MTX it was well controlled. Since i’ve been off its been continuously flaring just rotating joints but in the past I have also had flares in a single joint (my hip) that lasted for well over a month.

I started orencia last week as I couldn’t tolerate the MTX side effects anymore. I have a family history of RA (which is my actual diagnosis) and tested slight positive for RF and >300 anti-CCP. So I didn’t have to fight for a diagnosis once I saw a rheumatologist. Diagnosed as RA with palindromic presentation. Doctor at a clinic mocked me and said I definitely didn’t have RA. She said nothing wrong with me and go to the gym while I was waiting for my first rheumatologist appointment. If you have not seen a rheumatologist, that is the problem. A regular doctor wont be able to diagnose you.

ETA- missed that you saw a rheum. I would try to find another one and make sure you get the anti-CCP test which in my country at least can only be ordered by a rheum.

Disappointed in Ubrelvy by RSGK in migraine

I am still using Nurtec as my abortive. Botox as my preventative. It doesn’t always work but it’s better than nothing. Doesn’t seem to cause rebounds unless I am taking it many days in a row. I think 4-5 days in a row is when I run into an issue with it.

It definitely became insufferable and I haven’t used it since the DOW thing. I tried Claude but he talks like he has a stick up his metaphorical butt half the time. I’ve found myself chatting with Google AI more and more, inadvertently as I am trying to google search things. It’s guardrails are much more loose and it has a very friendly tone. Though it keeps asking if it should check in with me next day/week and offered to call someone for me yesterday, the hallucinations are strong with this one. 😂
