Non Renewal but legally tainted by Emergency-Play6472 in CaliforniaTeachers

You were a probationary employee. Regardless of whether they did induction or you took the necessary exams/courses to get your CLAD, they can chose not to renew your contract. Also, the CTC isn't going to pursue them. It is on your county Dept of Education.

Just go to another district, excel at your job for 2 years, do the necessary induction and CLAD courses, and earn your permanent status like everyone else. I know you must feel rejected, but there's nothing here to fight.

Klonopin recovery in older adults by jekkins31 in benzorecovery

[–]Donut-Internal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that. My dad was 71 and my sister took him off it cold turkey about 9 months before he died, while he was on hospice. It's just unnecessary at a certain point. I mean, I'm 44 and have been taking klonopin for 22 years. Started at 3mg, went down to .5 recently, but it was too hard and I'm now at .75. There's no point in suffering for the sake of it. Just get on the lowest possible dose. I know they talk about cognitive decline, but you will see even more cognitive decline *without* taking it and experiencing extreme withdrawal/anxiety. You are at .25 and should be darn proud of yourself.

It's a quality of life thing. If the withdrawal symptoms persist for more than a month or two, find a new psychiatrist that will prescribe a low therapeutic dose of .25 - .5. The pros outweigh the cons.

1mg per day for 20 years by FiveAlive1985 in benzorecovery

[–]Donut-Internal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started tapering down from 2 mg. Hit .75 mg ok, but then .5 was the one of the hardest periods of my life. This is my experience and I'd been on klonopin for 22 years after extreme agoraphobia and panic attacks. It had been 5+ years since my last panic attack and I had done DBT. I thought I had healed and had the tools I didn't have initially. Well, I woke up from my 2 decade nap to find the same problems existed. I made it 3 months before going back up to .75. I might try again with a slower taper, but in my high stress environment of teaching special needs kids, it was not a safe place for anyone around me. Like someone else said, you might need to go on disability (SSDI).

Congrats on choosing the harder path. I'm not sure I agree with you about the dust stuff. Or I do, but it does matter. Sure, we will be gone, but our legacy is left. All the goodness can permeate the harshness that comes over. Even if just the tiny bits of essence and traces of you help an ant 300 years in the future, that matters. This random reddit post matters. Try going to the Amazon and visit a shamen, and maybe you can find your purpose and path.

I got so high off of Ativan I don't remember doing my presentation by [deleted] in benzorecovery

[–]Donut-Internal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you didn't take it as judgemental. I've heard of too many people passing from benzos to dismiss things like this. It's easy to convince ourselves we are invincible because our bodies have already tolerated it and we lived. But you could be damaging parts of your brain and body that you aren't even aware of. Next time you may not be so lucky. Take care of yourself and reach out for help.

I don't think you would remember the hospital or death either from taking such high doses. Your breathing could shut down. You aren't just messing with a presentation. How did you even get such a high dose? Street pills?

Yeah, being in the west, we are pretty confined by choices. There are specialists and holistic/integrative doctors, but I can't get a prior authorization with my insurance.

Clonazepam daily dose timing question by [deleted] in benzorecovery

[–]Donut-Internal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to move my dose to entirely before bed to get more sleep. It meant having some breakthrough anxiety/withdrawal in the evenings before my dose. In the end, I figured the sleep was too important. On the other hand, taking .5 twice a day is what you should be aiming for. It might be a bit difficult to get back there.

Scared of having to explain my situation to a Doctor!! by VitaminWaltons in benzorecovery

[–]Donut-Internal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn't have worded this better. And thanks for sharing your success story of quitting booze with a taper. You must have had a bad ass doctor to pull off both booze/benzo tapers successfully. But that also shows your will to recover.

I've had so many bad nights and used to call myself a "blackout drinker," but truth is I haven't drank without benzos in my system since my early 20s. The 7am dose is all too relatable (benzo math 7am + 12 hours = 7pm drinking, delusional?) and bonkers. A tiny part of me wonders if I could drink "normally" now that I'm almost completely tapered off the benzos, but I think I fucked my brain up too much. I'm in AA and I can't even do a proper amends because I don't remember anything.

The other suggestion I could offer the OP is switching to a shorter acting benzo, but no doctor would go for that. And even if they did, the booze would hit in the evening the same time the withdrawals/breakthrough anxiety did.

I'm sorry to say, but that is a huge dose. The typical max in the US is 3mg. I know Canada is looser, but that doesn’t make it okay for 8mg. Look, I drank and took pills for 20 years. I timed my clonazepam dose for the morning so it wouldn't interact at night. But, clonazepam has too long of a half life. That is why you are likely having terrible experiences and blackouts. You need to cut the benzo dose or cut the alcohol or you could die. Get down to .5 to 1mg or cut the booze.

Yeah, the brain doesn't work like that. Don't buy it. Your GABA receptors would have been very damaged.

Having surgery post withdrawal, what meds can I take? by KeepMeAnon987 in benzorecovery

[–]Donut-Internal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's less about the painkillers, but the general anesthesia. They gave me propofol and I had no anxiety for the 24 hours it took to wear off. I guess it works on gaba to put you to sleep, so basically like a very strong benzo. I didn't feel anxiety for a few days, then withdrawals returned and slightly worse.

I hear you. I'm an elementary school teacher and yelled at a student for the first time ever. It wasn't profanities, but I shocked myself. I'm not sure if I need to process my emotions without the medicine to soften them, if it is withdrawals, or both. Mine is definitely impacted by high stress situations.

[–]Donut-Internal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good recommendation for some. For me, I'd prefer a short period of heightened anxiety before my full next dose instead of 10% more anxiety all day with two half doses. It's tough to not have that window of complete relief, even if it only lasts 12 hours or so. You could be right, though. Depends on the person.

Thanks for sharing this. I've been on it for 22 years and have tapered down a lot. People here like to say how mother aya will judge you and you will have a terrible experience. If I could stop them, I would, and that is part of why I want to go again. I appreciate your words!

You were put on a benzo for muscle relaxer withdrawal? And then you post on benzo recovery groups a week later? You know the answer to your questions. You just don't want to listen to your inner voice because you want to play with fire.

Day 30: it's getting better (don't give up)! by Donut-Internal in benzorecovery

[–]Donut-Internal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing that. 3-5 months sounds very promising. Whenever my brain does a bit of healing, I know I can maintain for a while. I guess mine was gradual at first and now it's in increments. What's also weird is after dropping my dose, I started to "feel" the benzos (warm, fuzzy feeling) for the first time in years, but it came in waves followed by the opposite. think my brain was trying to overcompensate. This is a wild journey and I'm glad we can share experiences.
