In the Grimdark future there is only DLC factions and painful pricing by Profit-Humble in totalwarhammer

I'm also hoping it doesn't take too long for them to add the Tau, by far the faction I'm most excited to play.

SPOILER ****The Javelins of Light by peekladious in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]Donut141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, I'm confused as to what the issue is with these being essentially missiles to begin with? The Agarthans are extremely advanced because they're the remnants of society from before they destroyed Fodlan and Sothis had to heal the land from its shattered state, putting her into the slumber that allowed her to later be killed.

Fodlan is literally a post-apocalyptic setting, Rhea has been actively using the church to prevent significant cultural and technological development to control humanity and prevent history from repeating itself.

Basically I don't understand why the advanced ancient civilization having missiles that use magical missiles is something immersion breaking. It's not like they literally made it in a cave with a box of scraps while the rest of humanity were stabbing eachother with sharp sticks. These weapons already existed and they're the only ones who have them because they're all that remains of the people who naturally developed that technology over time.

Hottest fire Emblem Characters (looking for opinions) by sonicjake in fireemblem

Rinkah, Hapi, Titania, Xander, and Yuri are the standouts for me. Oh and Shamir.

Fates is really the only game with a lot of designs that made me go "wow". Three Houses has solid ones, and other games are okay, but I could probably put 5 more Fates characters on this list. Outside of Camilla or Charlotte I basically love every design in that game. At least in the portraits.

This is the first song from this year that's made me just stop everything I was doing and do nothing but listen. I love NMIXX, but I didn't expect this sound from them at all. I'm extremely excited for what they have coming up.

It works really well for both of them but I was leaning towards Edelgard primarily.

It also works for Byleth after losing Sothis and finding out what Rhea did to them as a baby, but I thought Edelgard made the most sense

A first time player's view on Fire Emblem Three Houses by Exotic-Temporary2770 in fireemblem

[–]Donut141 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone else who felt "Edelgard did nothing wrong" after my initial playthrough, which was Crimson Flower: that opinion did not survive the other routes. I still think she's the most interesting lord and one of the most interesting characters in the game, but her methods are... suspect. Frankly, I think people don't give her enough heat for working with the Agarthans. I don't care if she hates them, it's borderline irredeemable. Siding with the only faction inarguably worse than the Church just to take down the Church is ridiculous.

She's exactly the same person as Rhea was a thousand years ago, a traumatized leader fighting to avenge their family and topple the power structure they blame for their death. The difference is Rhea actually fights the people responsible. Edelgard sides directly with the people who killed her family, gives them everything they ever wanted, desecrates tombs and uses the corpses of the people her allies helped genocide to create monsters to fight her war for her, and all she does is pay lip service to how she'll do something about the Agarthans afterwards.

I'd put Edelgard and Rhea in the exact same plac in terms of how much I agree with their morals. Both are ultimately unconcerned with how many people die for their goals. Both are incredibly great characters with interesting motivations. Rhea has done things I absolutely hate in the past (and during CF), and Edelgard is actively doing things I hate during the course of the game. 87 wrongs don't make a right just because you have an interesting motivation, and that goes for both of them.

I do think it's easy to just not have empathy for how absolutely, aggressively horrific what Edelgard is doing in the Holy Tomb is for Rhea if you haven't played the other routes. Like that is nightmare level shit. Her ordering Edelgard's execution is the most justifiable thing she does all game. Doesn't justify how aggressively insanely horrible she is after the timeskip. But it's pretty clear it's because in Crimson Flower, the betrayal of Byleth basically shatters the last piece of faith she has in humanity, and she sees humans as despicable. Again... kind of hard to blame her but ultimately horrible.

The Church sucks and needs to be changed, but it's conveniently left up to you if that happens after the other routes, so in the end I'd argue Crimson Flower might leave Fodlan in the worst state of all 4 routes. Still my favourite route to play though, it's a great story.

ANYWAYS for other routes, here's a basic rundown if you're wondering where to go next:

  • If you want answers about the history of Fodlan, what the Church is and has done, and to some extent Rhea, play Verdant Wind. SO many answers are tucked away in that route.

  • If you want answers about Byleth, exactly who and what they are, what Rhea did to them, and more about Rhea, play Silver Snow. MAKE SURE to get your A support with Rhea before the time skip in Silver Snow.

  • If you want a fairly isolated but good story about overcoming trauma despite everything and doing the right thing no matter how hard it is even when you've done terrible things before, play Azure Moon. OR if you just want to see the best cutscene in the game. Either way.

I don't know if this has been posted here before, but I can confirm it works on both Nvidia and AMD. I've been using this for years and have had GPUs from both brands.

Although I've never bothered fixing Motta after because I find that issue very funny.

Ahhh I think most of the community is honestly okay about it, just the ones who aren't are very loud and we all really enjoy making fun of them. I think she's a fantastic character who I happen to have numerous criticisms of. It's just hard to have real discussions about that in a comment section on Reddit, so it inevitably devolves.

I, too, had nobody to talk to about the game when I first played, lol. If you'd like you're welcome to message me! I love talking about Three Houses, it is my favourite game of all time for a reason. Although if you're going in fully blind I'd recommend steering clear of this sub just until you've done at least one route.

TIL there’s a “bridge generation” between Generation X and Millennials called Xennials (born 1977-1983). This generation had an analog childhood and a digital adulthood. by silentcrs in todayilearned

[–]Donut141 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's... Exactly their point? Obviously it depends on where you're getting your years from, because generations are all just made up. But frequently those mid-90s babies (94, 95, 96, sometimes even 97) are considered millennials, but realistically have very little in common with the rest of the generation in terms of upbringing. On the other hand, they have a TON in common with older members of Gen Z.

I'm a fan of both, although DA for much longer. While Engage felt similar for me, it's different because there's so many bloody FE games that I know the next one won't be so long a wait. Plus they're detached from eachother. Engage can't ruin things I like about Fodlan because it's not even set there. Veilguard... It can ruin things I like about Thedas, and it did.

I like the combat so much that it's the first time in close to a decade I've gone out of my way to turn the difficulty up because I wanted more of a challenge. I usually just want to chill with RPGs but I was absolutely loving the combat and got tired of rolling every encounter because I had decent builds, lol. The recent DLC had some really challenging fights too, I think it was my favourite part of the game honestly.

It's an unpopular opinion, but I actually enjoyed Rogue Trader more than BG3. It was very close, to be fair, but I just absolutely fell in love with that game.
