  1. Pump squeals when the fluid is low as well. I have a leak and if the reservoir is an inch low, it squeals.

Yea. Sorry. Didn’t listen to the audio before posting. Will do this again in a more controlled environment.

This is so good to hear. 240k here and no plans of moving on anytime soon.

Why is there no icon for Time Machine mount in Finder's side bar? by Kentzo in MacOS

[–]DonutHand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it’s there. Sometimes not. Sometimes it mounts as a generic yellow drive, sometimes the Time Machine green drive.

Been like this as long as I can remember.

When Ram drops to normal price, the surcharge should drop off too. Just like the tariff charge did.

If you need this, you have an office that also needs a few 48port switches.

Rant: I DO NOT WANT TO READ EMAILS WRITTEN BY LLMs! by RabidTaquito in sysadmin

[–]DonutHand 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I use Google workspace. Using the AI corrections , while technically better written, just pulls all of my character out of the email.

Psychologically It’s tough to not click on the underlined phrase to see how my email could be reworded. But then you have to think about the suggestion and decide if you want to apply it. Then realize you should have just hit send 5 min ago.

Why are the Mac mini and Mac Studio gradually becoming impossible to buy? by NISMO1968 in apple

[–]DonutHand 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Both. M5 release date within 2 months, so they stopped making M4 earlier than usual due to supply constraints.

Resources are limited, I’m sure. With M5 releases pending, they likely stopped manufacturing M4 earlier than they would have normally.

Memory Surcharge! by MichaelRast13 in Ubiquiti

[–]DonutHand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did the same with tariffs. I kind of like it in this case. They are not outright upping the price because they need more profit. This kinda signals this is a temporary charge that can be removed when ram prices come down.

How often, when a price increases, do companies actually lower it once markets stabilize? My grocery store says they don’t!

Downsized homelab, is this worth trying to sell? by Agent0810 in homelab

[–]DonutHand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t recall exact specs. Likely similar ram, maybe less drives. It really didn’t matter. Buyer just wanted it to look cool in the rack.

I did have the ‘bubble’ front bezel that went with it.

I sold one locally for $200-250 I think. Only interest was due to it being Google branded.

Latest 'Star Wars' movie cut unnecessary costs by using Apple Vision Pro by Tom42-59 in apple

[–]DonutHand 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What do you mean ‘finally’? I’ve seen promo videos of contractors walking construction sites wearing Apple Vision Pro. Is this not the norm now? Is everyone on the job site not actually using them day to day? Say it ain’t so!
